An excellent, traditional restaurant which is a joy to visit. Linen tablecloths and napkins, even hand towels in the toilets. Service is friendly and attentive without being overbearing. But of course the best of all is the food. We had the Friday evening set menu. All the dishes were a bit different from the usual. All the starters we had were excellent. So were the mains, particularly the Mercer Pie, an individual portion of steak and mushroom in its own pie dish with a side of peas and baby carrots. Two of us had the hot desserts but the two men were too full and opted for mixed ice cream. Nobody was disappointed. Included were a bottle of Prosecco and one of Malbec between the four of us. For this we paid £28 plus service. Excellent value.

Reliable good service and food. Note however that I booked on Open Table but they didn’t see my booking as said they had delisted so didn’t see it. Luckily they had room but this seems strange.

The food was fantastic, I haven’t been here for a few years and had forgotten just how good it is! The staff very friendly and attentive. This is not the buzziest of places a bit business in nature but still a lovely experience!

Old Fashioned, City dinning room. Good central location in heart of business district. Friendly, efficient service. Good quality food and selection. Decor a little tired, but decent atmosphere. Mainly good for business meetings, dinner.

Apart from us being the only women diners in the restaurant, this was a good meal. The service seemed a bit amateur at first (dropped butter dishes and someone bringing over the wrong order) but soon found its stride and the food was good. Nice old City atmos with big round tables and high ceilings. It has seen better days but we were happy with the experience.
