The Melting Pot - Greenville Ratings and Reviews
Everything was great! Except... There was one waiter that found an apparent connection with the occupants of a table very near my table. He was very out spoken (loud), carrying on about video games. My wife and I wouldn't mind it, but he was very loud. We could barely hear the customer speaking, but could clearly hear him. It got to the point that I looked over at two other tables and we both made eye contact and we kind of shrugged our shoulders and raised our eye brows.
The wait staff was excellent in attention to detail, filling us in on the menu, options, etc. The only negative is during the main entree, the water vapor coming from the Fondue Pot was blown into my face making for an uncomfortable dining experience....the venting system wasn't helpful.
New server - very slow service. The flow of the meal was interrupted when our server went missing. The manager doesn’t seem to be as responsive or friendly as he should be. I would say this is abnormal except that this same scenario happened last week when I had a birthday dinner with a friend. Same problems then. Food was good but ambience and service were lacking.
We were excited to dine here before going to enjoy a show at the Peace Center. However we were quickly disappointed. Upon being seated our server started with our first 2 courses. However she never returned to start our third course. After sitting for 20 minutes after finishing our first 2 courses without ever seeing her, she finally stopped by to ask how we were doing. We explained that we've been sitting and waiting for 20 minutes for her after finishing our first 2 courses. She immediately was rude and stated she had other tables to take care of that had 2 children. Upon her being rude to us, we decided we just wanted to leave. We sat for well over an hour and only had 2 courses served at the same time. The manager did comp our meal and apologized. Our waitress was extremely rude, we were a taken back at her response. We have always loved dining here in the past but this experience makes us second guess coming back.
It is normally one of my favorite places to go without kids. Went on ladies night with 2 friends, our waitress was brand new. Ladies night is super busy and hectic, not a night for new help. We were there for over 3 hours. My order kept getting messed up. She was very nice but not how I wanted to spend a week night with work the next morning. The food was great as always.
Server was very patient and knowledgeable.....however the food was awful! Roughly $45 a person for gray meat and tasteless cheese sauce with dry bread! Didn't even make it to dessert because I was beyond ready to be done with the food! It's beyond me how this place has been in business for so long.
We love the Melting Pot, but this was our first time at this location and it didn't disappoint. We took our 94 year old Aunt so she could experience this unique dining style. She absolutely loved it and ate every single bite. In fact she was scraping the chocolate out of the pot at the end of the meal. I love the flavors and how quiet it is to dine.
We are long time Greenville residents but had never gone to Melting Pot before, so we decided to try it during Restaurant Week. We're glad we went for the experience but we we weren't that impressed. Possibly it was just the Restaurant Week set menu but at this time we probably won't go back for a full meal. Starting with the positive: (1) the best part of the evening was our server, Ally. She made the visit much more enjoyable than if we had not had her. (2) relaxing meal, we never felt rushed. (3) decor was nice. Now the negatives: (1) even with just a few people in our seating area, it was somewhat noisy, I imagine if they were busy it would have been very loud. (2) The steak was very tuff. (3) We didn't care for trying to cook our meats in the broth. They would look done on the outside but when cut would be raw on the inside, so we kept needing to cook the steak and chicken over and over. (4) We felt it was over priced for the quality of the food.
In fairness, maybe we're just not fondue people. If you do decide to go, ask to be seated in Ally's section. She'll improve the whole experience.
It was my first time visiting The Melting Pot and I was not disappointed! The food was very delicious and the service was really great ! Plus it was restaurant week in Greenville SC and the price was lower but well worth the money spent! I’m going back there again for Valentine’s Day with my fiancé
There was a small wait, but it was worth it. The food is always wonderful. The restaurant has a nice intimate atmosphere. I do miss the timers that they provided in the past. It really made the experience a little easier. I love going with friends so that they can have this great experience. It is not a quick bite, but it will fill you up if you have time to go through and cook each course. Make sure you plan to be there a while and enjoy every minute!
It was our first time going to the restaurant. It just so happened to be restaurant week as well. It was fairly easy to make a reservation on the night before our date. We made reservations for 8:30, Saturday. Wait time to be seated for an 8:30 reservation was off. Front staff definitely didn’t seem happy nor were they good with time management. I believe the customers waiting could’ve been seated sooner had staff not walked away or just stood around aimlessly. However our server, Tim help turn things around. He was very detailed and gave great suggestions. You could tell he was tired but it didn’t stop him from giving us a great experience. Food was good. Definitely make sure you have spare time on your hands when attending.
I took my daughter for a Mommy/Daughter date night. She's always heard me rave about the Melting Pot, so when given the choice to pick where we'd go, this was her first choice. We had a fabulous time, wonderful fondue, and great service. Our server was so sweet to my daughter. We're excited to make this a more regular experience!
I reserved a party of 4 and said that we were celebrating our oldest daughters bday in Greenville SC melting pot. That you understand when you have a party of 5 that gratuity is adding but my 3 year old didn’t even eat that’s y I reserved a party of 4 even tho we had 5 counting my 3 year old. We have been going to the melting pot for about 10 years and never had such horrible service with a waiter (Charlisa). She hardly talked to us. Never checked on us but to bring out food. And then didn't talk. She had an attitude and seemed to be annoyed by our presence. We wouldn't mind the gratuity being added and we always tip well but she definitely didn't deserve 10% much less 20%. Then when I went to the manager Jonathan on duty and told him he said it didn’t matter how old they where you had 5 people. And we drive an hour to go eat the 2 sometimes 3 times a month.
The Melting Pot never disappoints. Great night, great service. The server was friendly and always brought us more of the extras that we wanted. We chose to celebrate New Years a day early because we didn't like the set menu for New Year's Eve so we got to eat our favorites and extend the celebration.
My friend and I always look for fabulous options for dining out. We don't have the opportunity often to enjoy each others company without children, however this night was exceptional. Our server, Reed, went out of his way to explain all of our options, his wit was astounding, and he was "Johnny on the spot" when it came to drinks, food, and yummies! I would highly recommend the Melting Pot to any of my friends, and would request Reed in my future visits!!!!
This was the fifth time I've taken my two children to The Melting Pot. Normally we go for their birthdays, but this time we decided to go on Christmas Eve. I was really surprised at the level of service and the quality of the food--and not in a good way. This restaurant is pricy, but in the past it has been worth it to splurge. It makes them feel special to go to such a "fancy" place. This time, however, I definitely felt a little let down.
Our server was less than enthusiastic when she greeted us. I kind of felt like we were putting her out by being there. The cheese fondue was excellent, but I was surprised at the quality of the items to dip into it. The "granny smith apples" were actually golden delicious, and weren't nearly as compatible with the cheese. There was just a smattering of cauliflower and carrots, and a HUGE bowl of bread. It was fine, but I took note that things were underwhelming.
I look forward to the salad course, because I love that California Salad. My salad had Iceberg lettuce in it. I was shocked they even allowed iceberg in the place. The bitter lettuce was not compatible with the sweet dressing and pecans. I picked it out and placed it on the side.
The entrees were fine. The vegetables were very scarce, and the bullion was so spicy it made the broccoli inedible, but the meats were fine.
The chocolate was superb, and the dippers were plentiful, even if the number of strawberries decrease each time we visit. Our server even brought us more bananas when we asked for them.
All in all, the visit was fine, but when I'm paying $160 for a meal, I'd rather not just get "fine." I'll be back, but if things continue to decline, eventually I'll stop coming. I also noted that the prices had increased since the last time we'd been there. That was okay, and I didn't mind paying a few more dollars, but to combine a price increase with a decrease in the quality of the food and service was definitely disappointing.
