The Melting Pot - Greenville
I made a reservation for 2 a day early because I knew it would take awhile to get in. It took over 30 minutes to be seated. The host actually was mainly our waitress. When the waiter finally came to our table an hour later, he was very strange and weird. He made fun of my life and asked if my boyfriend was high and then said "I wish I was" it was very uncomfortable. We paid over 100 dollars just to be asked rude questions by our server.
From walking in and having making a reservation more than a week in advcance at 630 but being told there were 3 other people ahead of us, so it would still be a long wait.... To being sat at a 1 booth table facing a wall that the table with heating element was broken and hitting our legs. To being told “let’s walk around and see if we can find another table”. To a menu with brown burnt food all over it. A skillet with someone’s left over cheese and hair on it. Huge chunks of celery on the floor by our table. Our first pot for the cheese with no water in it burning on our heating element choking us from the smell of a burning element, and our waitress no where to be found. Thank god it was a Groupon I had purchased to pay for our meal or we would have completely walked out and not paid a dime. The worst service and attention to detail I have ever experienced at a restaurant before. Especially for a place where full price it would have cost almost $100 for 2 people where you have to cook all of your food? Portion size was SO small also. Just so disappointed in my wasted money and ruining a birthday dinner for my husband. We will never return and have shared our terrible experience with tons of others.
Hostess was very snooty.....waiter was very nice, late in bringing check
I have been going to the Melting Pot for over 15 years... I have been to the one in Greenville specifically at least 6 times and each time I see a decline.. Problems I had were the restaurant itself is not as clean as it should be (food in the seats, all over the floor, sticky table), the bathroom stalls were out of toilet paper and the sink sprayed water all over me, but the most surprising part to me is the severs now wear jeans!? As far as our last experience goes-server seemed very busy/ distracted and kept complaining about all he had going on, we had to wait over 20 minutes to get a round of drinks...and then our card was charged for almost $30 more than our bill was! The food however, was excellent as usual. For years this has been our "fancy date night place" but after this last experience I do not think we will return to this specific Melting Pot. Very disappointing for me because this has been my favorite restaurant since I was young..
I love the melting pot and go several times a month. However, our service was probably the worst experience we’ve had. Jacob was our sever and he’s a nice guy, but not a great server. He was preoccupied very forgetful and I had to go look for him several times because he forgot everything I asked for. I still tipped him 20 percent but that’s just how I am. I’m not a mean person, but he didn’t deserve it and If he treats all his customers like us, Then he won’t make much because not everyone tips like I do when the service isn’t good.
Melting Pot never disappoints! Wonderful for date night,
This place was absolutely amazing! Great food and very accommodating, knowledgeable, and friendly staff! I would go here a thousand times! My new favorite place!
We waited for a ridiculous amount of time to be served. Several times I had to go get someone to find our server. Very frustrating when you go out for a special meal only to be disappointed
Love this place! Food is wonderful! Especially the chocolate fondues!
We spent over 3 hours at the restaurant waiting and waiting for each course. I’m not sure if it is suppose to be that slow or what. But that’s not a really good way to keep customers. We sat down at 6pm left at 9pm! It was ridiculous but food was decent. Not worth the price at all! I’ve heard from others the same thing, they take too long to bring out food that you are making yourself. It’s not like they are cooking it.
First time my family has been to this restaurant. We were very excited. First arrived early for our reservations and had to wait (which is fine). Got seated and did not get greeted for 15-20 minutes and then waited another 10 minutes for our waters. Ordered and waitress was knowledgeable and helpful. Clearly short staffed as she was in a BIG hurry when she got to make our cheese dip for our appetizer. We literally finished cheese fondue and waited another 10 minutes before salads arrived. Finished those off and another wait between courses. Meat arrived and honestly was delicious. We had poor POOR service but I feel it was not the server BUT the fact they didn’t have enough staff that evening. The associate waiter saved our waitresses tail as she filled our waters and such consistently. After dinner we ordered dessert and it was as AMAZING as the meats!! Loved it. So delicious. Bill was $225 therefore making the tip $30. I was hesitant to tip as well bc of our wait. From time we got to our table to leaving the restaurant we spent 2.5 hours there. A bit long and subpar attention for a $250 for four. We may try again soon as the food was delicious!!! Complaining some to prepare for the wait but my husband and I agree it was almost totally worth it.
We've always enjoyed our time having dinner and this time was no exception. We were running late due to traffic and I made a call to them, they held our table. We had an inexperienced waitress, however we were served in a timely manner. We enjoyed our time, and will return.
Had a great time.
We loved our dinner at the Melting Pot Saturday night. We had been to Switzerland in the Spring and had fondue and the Melting Pot was so much better. We went for a family dinner and it was a lovely experience. We were there two hours and it flew by. The food was excellent and our server was attentive and accommodating. We will definitely be returning and will recommend to friends.
Paid for a package that I had to call to receive all that was included. It seemed like it was all thrown together and we were inconvenience the staff.
Great service! Great food!
Make sure you listen to cooking times!
We had fun, our server Charlisa (I think thats how you spell it) she was amazing!! She had an insane table & it took my table of 6, 3 hours to finish all the way. The other table was a party of 12 who was very difficult. She asked a manager to help us out & he could have not cared less. We will be back but honestly only if we get Charlisa & we will make sure it won't take 3 hours next time.
The food, service and environment were really good. The price on the other hand was not consistent with other restaurants in the area. I felt the cost was very high for the food quality and dining experience. For this reason, I would be tentative on whether I would recommend The Melting Pot.
Our daughter is turning 13 and had wanted to go to the Melting Pot to celebrate. It has been years since my husband and I have been. Very fun evening!
Service was pretty slow, but the food was good, as usual
My expierence at the melting pot was nothing short of amazing! Our waiter Rodney was outstanding and by far the best waiter I’ve ever dined with!
I really enjoyed the complete experience. Our server was great. Be prepared for a 2 hour experience and really enjoy yourself a lovetini is a must have as well as the baked potatoes cheddar fondue.
Staff was excellent. Very kind and accommodating about food allergy.
Great place to give a try. Me or my boyfriend has ever been to a place like that and i must say we enjoyed ourselves
I have always loved this place and looked forward to going. However, our experience this time was nothing short of a nightmare. They don't seem to have their act together. Even though we had a reservation, we still had to wait for a table. When brought to the table, we saw they were not very busy. The staff was new and not sure how to work our burner. I wish they had just moved us to another table that they were familiar how to operate it, but they didn't want to. They actually at first couldn't find the knob to turn on the burner. Then they pointed it out but needed my husband from his seat to turn it on for them. To add to that, shortly after we were seated, they put a loud screaming toddler right beside us which defeats our efforts to get out away from our kids, but that is not the restaurant's fault. When we ordered our meals, we were told they were out of what I wanted to order. Then, 30 minutes AFTER ordering our food, we found out what I ordered wasn't included in the "choice of three" and there would be an additional 12 dollar charge. Then, the food took over an hour to come out...and it was raw...so not sure why. After our food came out it was whisked away quickly, because it was the wrong order. Then we got our correct raw food and we began to cook and eat. We didn't know that the burner wasn't set hot enough to cook, and my husband nearly choked on the steak he thought he had cooked long enough. It was stuck in his throat but thankfully he recovered in the bathroom, but it was nevertheless super scary. He was very loud hacking and coughing and the staff was completely oblivious to this. When we told him of the scare, they offered us free chocolate. We turned it down. I will say that the bar manager is super nice and he comped our bill. He was sincerely very sorry. Really, all of the people are very nice that work there. I just feel the organization has sadly gone down hill. Hope they improve soon.
The Melting Pot specializes in fondues, both beef and cheese, as well as dessert fondues. I am a purist, and my date and I found that sharing a cheese fondue, going to a salad, and then moving to a beef fondue was plenty of food for us. In fact, the MP will give you vegetables, different breads, entree choices and fondue desserts that in my book are not necessary. The wine flight we shared was excellent and ample; if we'd had two flights, it would have been too much. So, go and try the MP, but be ready for a lot of food, unless you order conservatively, which I am glad we did.
Different type of restaurant. Food was fresh. Service was great.
Food was good and of quality. Service was good as well.
Seating is somewhat uncomfortable and far from table, they could use an updated decor - the fondue control box on several tables was hanging from the wire though... however, great restaurant, portions are perfect, and again everything is fresh, tasteful and really delicious!
First time here, amazing service and food!!
Friend visiting from France
Disappointing menu changes.
Everything was great except for the booth we sat in. Very uncomfortable! You could barely move around which meant you had no room to sit comfortably or stretch out to eat. The table itself was so small that we had to make a puzzle to fit the plates. Other than that our server was awesome and the food was delicious!
Birthday dinner! Food and service were excellent
Great experience as always. My favorite restaurant for sure.
It all started with the moment we walked in the door.
The hostess was obviously in a horrible mood and the slander she used, talking to and about her co-workers was remarkably unprofessional. Not only did we wait an absurd amount of time to be seated, 15 minutes before reservation, seated 15 minutes after but we got to here the manner of rudeness of the following three couples and parties that came in. As someone who eats out at fine dining and higher end restaurants on average (2) times a week, the service, staff and atmosphere was just a disappointing experience. The best part about the entire night was the “training” waiter who attempted to do things right, and by that I mean, the waiter who was suppose to be training her, again very unprofessional, using “pet talk” and words “sweeties” and “what do you want”. I’m sorry but please do not call me and my wife sweeties or use such words as demanding as that. When we asked for the wine menu, she forgot to actually bring our wine and cocktails. When my wife asked to explain something, the waiter proceeded to take the menu out of her hand and say just pick three or four of these, that’s all. I clearly knew more about the menu and what was in the food than the waiter, when asking about the vegetable dish and tofu I was told “it is not good, I think it’s soy and tofu” ok thanks for the help. The manager or general manager needs to actually train and monitor the employees and customer service satisfaction. We will not be back to this location, I can’t believe the experience as we have been to 4+ other venues of this brand with no issues.
The service was extremely slow and our waiter was rude. He was short with with us several times when we asked him questions about the menu.
My husband and I enjoyed a date night out at the Melting Pot. This was his first visit and my second. He was worried we would have to pull through a drive-thru on the way, but was pleasantly surprised at how filling it actually was. I tried to tell him. Our waitress was very pleasant and helpful. We will visit again.
The service and food are always wonderful. It’s one of my favorite places in Greenville.
We loved our first experience with The Melting Pot in Greenville, SC. The food was delicious and left us feeling full. We will definitely be coming back- Especially when they introduce their grill options in the next month! Our favorite part of the whole dinner was the dessert- Dark & Dulce Chocolate Fondue! I would recommend this place to anyone and it is a great place to celebrate special occasions. Our one-year anniversary date to The Melting Pot will forever be a cherished memory!
Food and Service was really good. Server was very courteous and helpful.
