   I cannot tell you how disappointed we were with this experience, in no way is it worth the price. From the moment we stepped into the hotel the service was awful (given wrong directions and ignored by staff), service during the afternoon tea was awful too with long wait times to be served and had to ask repeatedly for water to be refilled etc. The food is so subpar - stale bread, rolled omelette was green/brown in the middle which is extremely unappetising, fingerprint dents all over the sandwiches. The most upsetting thing was the atmosphere, or lack of, should I say - we felt like we couldn’t speak above a whisper because it was so silent and awkward in there. There was a couple genuinely trying to leave soon after they’d sat down, to which they were told they couldn’t leave without paying full price even though they hadn’t been served anything yet resulting in the girlfriend crying because she didn’t want to be there. This was a birthday gift and the whole experience was horrific. Do not book this!!!

   10/10 experience! Green tea scone was outstanding and creative. Scones were baked upon order. Nice presentation of the afternoon tea. Tea choices are sophisticated. Good service too.

   Afternoon tea was very good. A welcome change to English High Tea staples.. Option to try multiple different Japanese teas at no extra cost. Was able to swap out an unwanted item for another. Service friendly although we had to clear the tiny table ourselves at the request of the waiter to make room for the food platter. He also dropped one of the cakes and didn't notice until I pointed out For a 5 star Japanese hotel in surprised and a little disappointed that they can't seem to attract Japanese staff. It would have made the experience more authentic and delivered with traditional etiquette.

   A fantastic afternoon tea! Delicious food served in a beautiful Japanese inspired room. Valentina was very friendly and helpful, always ready to top up our tea. Fantastic experience; I'll be back!

   The advert for the afternoon tea did not come close to the actual meal. And you could only replenish the 2 sashimi ONCE. The desserts were delicious and the scones were served warm. Tea selection was alright too. I would have been embarrassed if I had to bring a date here for the afternoon tea as the picture did not do it justice. A little disappointed actually.

   Delicious and something a bit different. Staff were very friendly and helpful and even gave me a container to takeaway my remaining scone that I couldn’t manage.

   The afternoon tea was tasty, simple but interesting twist on a classic. A complimentary plate of treats for the birthday guest was a nice touch. The service left something to be desired. I'd sent an email a couple of weeks before our booking to find out whether we would be able to order cocktails from the bar during our tea or if we could move to the bar afterwards - no response. When we were seated I enquired again, the server acknowledged my query but seemed to ignore it. We chose our first teas and the saké pairing flight for one of us, the server asked if we'd like all the saké brought together so that our party could share and try them all (particularly as we were keen to try their cocktails too). We were brought our little cups of tea, saké and food, all lovely but we were left quite some time before we were able to order our next tea, I think we were all finished with most of the food by the time we had our second round of tea and were quickly served our remaining sake one after the other during our scones (it seems we were each getting a saké flight.) We asked whether we could order cocktails again and the server said they'd check when the bar was opening, not until long after we were leaving unfortunately. There were a couple of other moments throughout our visit where we felt misunderstood by the staff who would acknowledge our comments/requests but didn't respond how we'd expect so overall left feeling a little odd and disappointed.

   I don’t often leave reviews however I felt this was appropriate, I have food allergies and sometimes it’s daunting going out to eat. The team at Malt Lounge looked after me and my guess exceptionally and nothing as too much trouble. There was a lovely young lady looking after whose name I can’t remember however she was incredible and she made sure that we were looked after, she was a new member of your team, she really is an asset.

    The Koto Japanese Afternoon Tea experience is superb. Have been to traditional Cream Tea experiences but this beats them all. Intimate room. Fantastic to experience the sublime Koto music. The Koto playing is a very unique one. Most definitely recommend. The food was excellent especially the savoury bites. Would have preferred more savoury. Too many sweet bites hence the 4* rating. Will go again for sure.
