Taco Tuesday was pretty good . Food was better than expected . Service a little slow but overall I would go back .
Went for Taco Tuesday. Band playing was excellent. Buffet was good, lots of choices. Service was very slow, they need to improve in that area.
Love the chicken tortilla soup5.
The food was good. I enjoyed my smoked turkey pesto sandwich, once I got used to the strength of the pesto, and my companion enjoyed the tortilla soup and grilled cheese appetizers. It was a little on the pricey side for lunch but not outrageous. Our server was pleasantly dressed and made up. There is a time and place for strong self-expression, but, in my opinion, not when you are acting in a service capacity. She was pleasant and visited often enough to care for our needs without being intrusive. My sole actual complaint was the volume and content of the music, which interfered with our ability to hold a comfortable conversation. I wish I could give a strong dope slap up side the head of whoever thought music should be played everywhere. My preference: background music should be instrumental and in the background.
Whatever issues they might have had when they first opened are now long gone. The food was really good—especially the small plates. The vibe is super fun, high ceilings, lots of light, big bar, cool decor. We especially loved the service—Emily(?) was really attentive and fun and even hand decorated a birthday cake for us. This place is exactly what its trying to be, which is a fun place to go after work, eat good chow with pals and wait out the traffic.
Interesting ambiance though a bit noisy. Menu had adequate choices and food was delicious. Service was unusual. When I finished my appetizer I left my fork on the small plate. When the server came to clean up she took the plate and asked if I wanted to keep my fork or wanted a new fork. When I asked for a new fork, instead of bringing a new fork she brought me a whole set of silverware wrapped in a new napkin. Seemed strange that she even asked if I wanted a new fork or wanted to keep using my old one.
Excruciating slow service. Took 10 minutes before waitstaff acknowledged us. We had the all you can eat Sunday brunch which was not worth the money, especially since you had to pay an additional $25 for the Bloody Mary or mimosa bar.
Excellent overall experience! Enjoyed the food, the ambience and the movie theater!
Terrible service and food was not good. We had dinner reservations for two. We waited 15 minutes before our drink order was taken by our server who hasn’t even stopped by our table since we sat down.
We ordered several dishes to try:
Truffle fries - undercooked
Brussel sprouts - greasy
Butternut squash soup - good and was happy with soup
Ahi poke bowl - hard bits of rice throughout the dish, too much soy sauce on the rice, and not enough ahi
Kids cheeseburger & fries - simple kids dish. Daughter was not happy with her burger and fries and even said, “1 star mommy.”
We have never left a bad review. We do date night on Fridays/Saturdays and this must have been the worst experience we’ve ever had. The restaurant was not too busy when we were there on an early Friday evening. The Lot needs better trained servers or more servers, if they’re overwhelmed with the tables they have. Food and cooks needs to be re-evaluated by management.
We went out Tuesday so it was Taco Tuesday night. They had Mexican music playing and it seemed like a hot spot. Every drink and dish we ordered was excellent. & probably worth the price. The service was good however our waitress probably had too many tables to serve everyone probably. All said it was great & we will be back. So cool to slip in to the movie after dinner🤗
There are clearly still some launch pains, but the potential is there.
I had good hopes in coming in to this place based on looks. But, this place is incredibly slow and basic customers needs are forgotten like; having silverware, or having a glass of water on the table. A simple drink took more than 15 minutes, and calling anyone’s attention is near impossible. The troublesome part is that I inquired to the waitering staff about these issues, and they were very aware of them. In fact, we even got an answer stating management doesn’t seem committed to solve this problem. That’s puzzling. If you are in the business of customer experience/hospitality immediate attention to these issues should be your highest priority. I’m shocked the staff has this perception of their own management. What’s to say about how they value their paying customers...
Have been coming to the Lot since it opened but yesterday was very poor service and ordinary meals for breakfast at 0930
New and inattentive wait staff , food was slow and not as nice as it had been
Pretty embarrassing as we had brought friends with us
Had dinner with a friend at The Lot. Truffle fries were great. Filet was cooked perfectly and the espresso martini was excellent. The only issue was the time it took to get our drinks (so we solved that by buying a bottle of wine). Pinot Noir wine selection needs expanding. Overall a good experience
Love the energy at “The Lot”, whether for dinner or for dinner and a movie. Good noise level, good vibe.
Food is excellent.
Service is okay. It’s my second time eating there and it appears as though they need more staff. The staff is great but just not enough of them ultimately impacting service.
Waited over 40 minutes for our food and when it arrived it was cold. The server said they were having issues with the cooks. They comped our food, but it was a bad experience.
First off, I understand this is a new-ish establishment, and I had already been twice before (in December & early January), encountering just some minor service issues then but nothing I thought wouldn't iron itself out once the place was fully up & running. Fast forward to a very disappointing Valentine's Day dinner, with our reservation made well in advance. We encountered:
1.) major hostess incompetence (trying to seat us at the worst high table - corner right by movie theater entrance, door draft, foot traffic, super brightly lit, very un-Valentine - despite a nearly empty restaurant area). When I said we would like to have a nice dinner at a regular table, she looked extremely put out, dragged us back through the place, frantically looking and then seating us right by the bar at a corner table next to the service entrance. We weren't really happy with that but thought oh well; had I known beforehand that the (nicely decorated) restaurant section would remain at best half filled throughout the evening, I would have insisted on being seated over in that section.
2.) The bar area itself was really noisy, mostly due to the music being too loud for a decent conversation, so people had to yack at each other.
3.) Major service timing issues: although our waitress was ok (but mainly dealt with our drinks), food was brought out by a myriad of other staff without seeming concern for timing! One of us got their main course so well ahead of the other that we ended up not actually eating together. So disappointing and along with seating, a major damper on the evening!
4.) Pricing: food and drinks, although good (not great) were too expensive for what you get; the dessert was so tiny it was a joke we kept laughing about into the next day.
5.) Speaking of the next day: receiving a $20 hit on my credit card along with a "sorry you missed your dinner" email from opentable topped it off. Did I mention hostess incompetence?! Turns out I was sorry I DIDN'T miss my dinner!
It was too loud to talk. We asked for the music to be turned down, but I doubt it happened. Our waitperson was not very good.
The restaurant was at ~50% capacity ( about half of the tables were occupied), but the service was excruciatingly slow. They featured a prix fixe, and the fish was very dry.
I made my reservation on open table and there was no mention of having a credit card hold my spot, or they would change me a $20 cancellation fee. They called me the day before asking for my credit card number to hold my spot. What if I didn’t answer?
I saw a movie after and the the waiter service seemed appropriate, and was good for me, although they guy next to me didn’t get his food- not my complaint though.
It was all very rough, and it seemed they opened a month before all the staff was in place and properly trained.
The LOT is still new and they're trying to get the operations under control. The first time I went there, I was ok with subpar service while all the servers were being trained. Two months later, servers still running around without a real plan and several managers are overseeing the floor and all they're doing is putting more pressure on the servers instead of really managing. The lamb shank I had tasted low quality and the seabags my wife had was overcooked and very dry. We had flag down our tired server multiple times for silverware, napkins, water, ordering more food, and the check. We also sat around quite a while before the food arrived.
I really hope they get better at service and food because I really like the ambiance, the theater and the setting. I will give one more try in a month.
My husband and I enjoyed our first dining experience at The Lot. The food we had, hamburger and chicken schnitzel was tasty. Chicken dish could have been warmer. Service was excellent, and the restaurant is a lovely, open, contemporary setting. Nice concept, restaurant and movie theater connected!
Service was slow and disorganized. Food just ok. Nothing special here. Ok in a pinch but wouldn’t make a special trip here.
This is my second time eating at the loft. Food was delicious and Service was very good, prices are a little on the higher side.
The dinner was great we enjoyed it very much and we loved the threatre.
They Still have a lot to work through to get their operations running smoothly. I made a lunch reservation through open table, I got there on time, and was told our name was not on their list and they were completely booked and could not accommodate us. The manager, who seemed very new to the role, came and said that he could not accommodate us because they were completely booked and they were supposed to notify OpenTable to not take any more reservations but they failed to do so. He was not apologetic he was just ready to turn us around and send us home. I took it upon myself to coach this young man. I explain to him that when the establishment messes up they will have to do everything possible to accommodate the customer and not tell them there’s nothing they can do. Long story short he found us seats in the theater, turned his attitude around, became a very relatable manager all of a sudden, and we enjoyed our lunch. Not sure if the fact that I said I’d like to say hi to the owner, who happened to be visiting that day had anything to do with it :-) but whatever the case he turned it around and the service was pretty pleasant after that.
Service very slow. Asked for soup before my dates meal and salad with meal. Everything came out together. Asked for water and had to ask a second time.
Friendly staff! Great food and wonderful service!
The waitress was rude. She never came by to check on us and when I asked about watching the movie she said it was too late since we were already eating our meal. This was my first time here and I will definitely never go back. I just wanted to watch a movie and eat my food. Should of just went somewhere different in San Francisco! They have 3 similar dinning theatres there and I’ve never been treated this displeasing.
Here's the thing... I'm willing to give the restaurant at THE LOT a bit of a pass, since it is relatively new. Overall, I like the place! The atmosphere is great and the food is good. The bar is really cool and it's a great place to watch a game. However, for the price, I would expect better service. Specifically, I would expect a friendlier server and less wait time. Maybe they are still working on that. Time will tell. ;)
Love the idea of the Lot. All this was tarnished when the Ladies Reatroom was a complete disaster! Every stall had no paper and it was filthy - I could see by other people’s faces they thought the same thing - why would we think the back of your kitchen was in control? We expect more when we pay $20 for a movie ticket. This night my husband and I spent $300 on a dinner and a movie. You’d better get this under control or it will be a short life the the Lot in this part of the Bay.
We waited 45 minutes before the food arrived my chicken was very dry, but mashed potatoes were good . My husband’s French fries potatoes were totally cold. After the food was delivered we did not see the waitress until we were done with our food. We ordered dessert, but after 30 minutes we had to leave to go to the theater, so we left without having dessert. Had ask to have the dessert charges removed from our bill. The theater was great. They need to get their act together and maybe hire more people. The place was full. We arrived at 7 and left at 8:45. I will wait before returning any time soon.
An expansive upbeat place to eat. The food items we ordered were good, although some were a bit overpriced; however, at least, they were satisfying. Drinks, specifically the wine, are definitely overpriced. Most were $16 a glass. Thought twice abut ordering a glass and ended up not doing so. I would definitely go again, but just have to be smart about your selections.
Great food, timely and polite service, good ambiance.
A much improved experience from my first visit for lunch. Much more efficient service and a shorter and more reasonable time from order to food delivery.
Fun venue, flavorless food. We celebrated my son’s birthday with a movie and dinner to follow. The theaters are awesome! The restaurant greeter and waitstaff were really friendly and attentive, but the food left a lot to be desired. I know this place is new and they’re probably working out some kinks, but when an 11 year old calls the food “bland”, you know it lacks flavor. We ordered appetizers and our main dishes from the main menu (not kids menu) and all of it was blah. Kids ordered sushi rolls (which neither finished, and normally they scarf down rolls), I had pasta and hubby had soup and salmon. All of it boring. No one even wanted dessert. We will likely try this place again, because I really want it to be yummy and it’s a neat venue and I’ll give it another chance because of that. Hope the chef considers adding more seasoning and/or flavor into the food.
The food was good but the service was terrible on so many accounts. Unfortunately we left to go see our movie and I didn't look at my receipt until the next day. I then realized I was charged for a full entree we never ordered. I contacted the restaurant to let them know how disappointed we were and they said a manager would call and never did.
Our dining experience was very poor - basic food order wrong (cold soup/ingredients missing) and very unconcerned server resulted in our skipping the planned movie and going elsewhere!
Quality of service needs significant improvement. Third visit and no difference in overall experience from first time.
This was my 2nd trip to The LOT. The 1st time was with a large group (18 of us in total) and was 2-3 weeks ago. My overall impressions of The LOT have not changed much in that the food (we tried some new items from the menu) was still good, the drinks (when you could get them) were also good and the actual movie experience was 5-star. My wife and I had a great time watching the movie and having drinks/snacks served to our seats. Where The LOT is still a LONG WAYS from being anywhere near expectations is on the "Service" front in the Bar/Dining area. We were seated timely (we had a reservation for 6pm on a Friday), yet they did not check us in correctly so I received an email from Open Table about bailing/pulling a no show on my reservation which I brought to the attention of the manager. Once seated, they took our 1st drink order timely but it took nearly 15 minutes to get the drinks and we never saw that waitress again until we were paying. We had to flag down the drink waiter to place our food order and I had to go to the bar and stand there for over 10 minutes before the folks seated at the bar asked what I wanted and said "THEY" would flag down a bartender so I could order a drink!! Are you kidding me?!?!? If not for the great atmosphere and amazing movie experience, the service alone would cause people to never come back. That said, we get it. It's new. They need time to figure some stuff out. They just need to hurry because either THE LOT figures this part of their business out or they are going to lose a lot of customers to the other businesses in City Center once they start opening up.
