A traditional pub serving contemporary English food in the heart of Fitzrovia. The Lore is composed of The Pub on the ground floor, The Kitchen on the first floor and Private room with bar on the top floor.

All of our food is freshly prepared each day by Head Chef Ali Borer and his brigade in the Lore kitchen on the first floor. Our menus have been created especially to reflect the seasons, and for when ingredients are at their very best.
Our popular Sunday lunches are traditional roasts, slow-cooked with delicious trimmings.

THE PUB
A copper and pewter topped bar serving a range of beers, including our very own Gritchie brews, premium spirits, cocktails and selected wines. The walls are adorned with eclectic and original artwork.

THE KITCHEN
Open plan but still intimate. Experience the sight and sound of our open kitchen with the Chefs cooking on our bespoke, charcoal fuelled oven and char-grill.

THE PRIVATE ROOM
A wonderful private room with private bar on its own floor.

    Great ambience, excellent food and service. The only gripe I have is portion sizes are tiny... exceptionally small, specially considering the prices. So, not great value unfortunately.

    We had booked in for Fathers Day lunch as my husband loved this pub - and even though I confirmed the booking on Saturday - they apparently called on Sunday morning but left no message to say there was a technical issue so the pub was closed. We travelled from West London with two young children to find it shut then had to look for somewhere else for lunch on Fathers Day with a hungry 6 year old and 1 year old.

    Great pub full of character and charm. The Angels Lore lager is very good! Very friendly and attentive staff from the door all the way through to the restaurant. Had good craic with ‘Mr.Fantastic’ who worked in the restaurant. Great food at a decent price, fantastic wine too! An unexpected complimentary birthday treat in the form of a pudding and some drinks offered by the barman downstairs! Blown away, amazing experience.

    Two of us had the ribeye steak, and nearly half of the cut strips were 100% fat, which essentially left 125g of meat for £30. The cabbage side dish was a bit odd and there was only one vegetarian option as a main. Overall not what we expected, especially for the price range.

    First, I am a big fan of Guy Ritchie, so can be a bit biased. My second visit here, and again everything was perfect. I was a bit disappointed, because the menu has changed and I could not get one dish from the first visit. But every single dish I have tried was perfect

    Had a Sunday lunch here and hands down the best roast I've had in years. The staff were attentive but not overbearing, the food was fantastic and the wine was great too.

    Acoustics in restaurants upstairs are really bad. The reverberation is severe. Shame. It takes from the evening.

    Staff were amazing! No other way to put very kind polite and welcoming and always wanting to do more. Well the food is next level I took my family for my fathers 50th all 6 of us left the pub full and expressing how it was the best roast any of us have had!

    Our reservation was on the first floor. Loved the wooden floors and tables. The waiter was very friendly and went out of his way to accommodate us. He brought us three different beers to try and choose from. He decanted our wine and even brought special glasses for it, although it was not one of the most expensive wines on the list (just an old one). I'm vegan, so I got a vegan version of their asparagus dish which was amazing!!! Everything we had was great. And good portions. The only thing I'd have loved is for the volume of the music to be higher, as it was more like background music. (I love music, so maybe it's just me)

    I was really looking forward to going here after great reviews and recommendations. I’m afraid it wasn’t quite what I was expecting, it was very busy so we had to wait almost half an hour for our table which ordinarily we don’t mind doing. However, we were then rushed to a order and eat because the kitchen was closing (it was 6pm), this ruined the experience to be honest as we were unable to relax. Then at 8pm we were told to leave because they were closing, we still had drinks to finish. I understand they close early but it wasn’t our fault that everything was so late. Ultimately, this place is known for their Sunday roast, so they need to keep the kitchen and the bar open until later so you can actually enjoy the experience.

    Our first time here; the location suited as we were going to the theatre in Bloomsbury afterwards. A good old fashioned style pub with a warm welcome, fabulous service and great food. The first floor dining room was buzzy and very loud! ...a tad pricey though for a roast dinner - £29! It was good, but expensive working out at £80 each for three course and drinks.

    An outstanding “battle cruiser” in the beautiful city. I’d say this is the perfect pub, terrific Gritchie ales downstairs - Michelin star level food upstairs. The look and ambience is spot on but the most impressive thing is the staff. They are knowledgeable, fun and generous with their time. We had Martha who is superb at her job. It really doesn’t matter that it’s owned by one of the finest English directors of his generation - The Lore is simply one of the best pubs in London…

    Wonderful meal, the food was truly outstanding. Warm and friendly staff, especially our delightful waitress Isabelle. Would highly recommend the roast dinner, and the salted caramel doughnuts were divine! Great to find somewhere that offers good traditional food with a modern twist.
