About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Charming
  • Good for groups
A traditional pub serving contemporary English food in the heart of Fitzrovia. The Lore is composed of The Pub on the ground floor, The Kitchen on the first floor and Private room with bar on the top floor.

All of our food is freshly prepared by Head Chef Michal Kaszuba and his brigade in the Lore kitchen on the first floor. Our menus have been created especially to reflect the seasons, when ingredients are at their very best.
Our legendary Sunday roast is slow-cooked with delicious trimmings.

THE PUB
A copper and pewter topped bar serving a range of beers, including our very own Gritchie brews, premium spirits, cocktails and selected wines. The walls are adorned with eclectic and original artwork.

THE KITCHEN
Open plan but still intimate. Experience the sight and sound of our open kitchen with the Chefs cooking on our bespoke, charcoal fuelled oven and char-grill.

THE PRIVATE ROOM
A wonderful private room with private bar on its own floor.

My partner and I loved our visit to Lore of the Land. The food was excellent and service was great. It is a little bit on the expensive side for a “pub” but for a special occasion (which was our reason for visiting) it is definitely worth it. Will definitely be visiting again and will recommend to our friends and family.

The food was outstanding. The cod collar and lamb were cooked to perfection. Not a showstopper but our starters arrived before our drinks, so if any improvements can be made, would suggest there to be a better coordination between the bar and kitchen.

We heard the hype so booked the Sunday roast for our adult son’s birthday (we booked 10 months in advance ) The reason they have such a big waiting list is because the dining area is small. The food was very nice (the beef fatty and disappointing) but the rest was lovely The price is reasonable for London and the service is and ambience was very good I’d go again but it wasn’t worth the 10 month wait in my opinion

Sunday roast is worthy of making a booking 1 year in advance at midnight. Lamb was was tender and tasty. The mint sauce was probably the best I've ever had. The pork was juicy with a great crust. The venison tartare was flavorful and balanced. I will book again and look forward to trying other dishes.

After waiting a year for our visit we weren't disappointed. Staff were attentive and very friendly. Food was fantastic only downside was a member of our family is gluten intolerant and wasn't able to have any starter that he would of liked but because of this we asked if he could have extra meat with his roast which they were happy to do. We then ventured to the bar to make the most of our afternoon. It was a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon! Trying to get booked in again for next year but proving very difficult.

Hi, we had a wonderful time at Lore of the Land The staff were lovely. The bread and wild garlic butter was amazing and we had plenty of olives. A roast roast lamb and roast beef were both brilliant and the roasties are to die for and so is the Yorkshire pudding. We had the bone marrow which was very nice and the puddings were indulgent Will definitely go again
