Food and view are amazing. The noise level from the bar onto the patio where we were having our romantic Valentines experience was so loud we could barely speak and hear one another. The staff tried Ti jeep the doors closed once they noticed but it was constantly left open and gave the feeling of being in a sports bar, not a 5 star dining experience. The management should give some thought to this!

Was really excited to have dinner with a view of the ocean. Other than the breadbasket, the meal was unremarkable. The breadbasket is great--lots of choices that all taste great. Started with oysters, which were shucked abysmally. More than half of them had shell chunks that were unpleasant to find in your mouth, and they were very tiny oysters. The scallop-greens-bacon entree was nice, large scallops cooked properly. The sea bass, which isn't the thickest fish to begin with, was the thinnest piece, over cooked and dry. The wine steward offered a nice, off-menu chablis. Otherwise, service was acceptable, albeit indifferent. Ambiance issue--the heaters outside emit a high pitch noise. It didn't bother me much--I wanted to be warm--but it bothered others outside, who kept asking for heaters to be turned off. So I was freezing cold. Thank goodness for a view and bread. Unfortunately, I would not return based on this experience.

Overpriced and very limited menu. Bad service. Restaurant and hotel was dated. Doesn’t compare to Monarch Beach Resort - go there instead.

We were very disappointed with our experience at The Loft restaurant in The Montage. We have been going to that restaurant for years - but last night it appears things have changed. We were offered to select a wine from the wine list of their other more formal restaurant. Then they told us they only had one copy of that wine list in the restaurant and it was in use by another guest at the moment. 20 minutes later the wine list was brought to us. We had to wait another 20 minutes to have the wine brought to our table. We were there over 45 minutes before our order was taken. I don’t know if there has been a change in the management of the restaurant - but things were noticeably different. Such a shame. It will be awhile before we ever go back.
