The Loft at Montage Laguna Beach
Book your next event with us
We took our son and daughter in law for dinner after learning that we were about to become grandparents for the first time. Laguna Beach has many fine choices. We’ve been to most! We’ve dined at the Loft for other meals and knew dining outside while watching the sunset would be perfect.
The restaurant did not disappoint.
Love the food , the view, tha service was excellent, Juan our waiter was very lind with us..we were celeymy mom birthday and. Rough tus a beautiful cake.. very grateful for all the attentions that we received.
Our waitress, Estella was professional, knowledgeable, pleasant.
The food and drink were very good.
The view was wonderful and always is
Excellent Sunday brunch at The Loft. Service was on point. Great views of the Pacific from either inside or outside. Valet parking was a little backed up but they were hustling to get everyone accommodated. Great place to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Place is always on point. It’s expensive but it’s worth it.
No one told me it was bistro hour when i booked. Not even when they called to confirm. I went to have valentine's day lunch with my husband and enjoy the view, montage is his favourite spot to relax. But it was a terrible meal, the dip was horrible and the caesar salad was mediocre. We went out of the restaurant, paying a lot of money while we ate nothing.
3 1/2 stars really. 5 star location and view, 3 stars for the bare bones lunch menu, something like 10 items to choose from, about 5 appetizers and 5 sandwiches. A $28 burger confirms you are paying for the view and the Laguna experience. It’s a magnificent place. We had the fried calamari because there wasn’t much else on the appetizer side that seemed worthwhile. I split a burger with my girlfriend not to save money but because the other right side of menu offerings like the club sandwich seemed to lack any creativity. And at that price you shouldn’t feel so limited.
Afterwards we went upstairs to the main lobby bar. Beautiful sunset and vibe. Great place to hang out as the evening set in with a piano player setting the mood. People are both dressed up and coastal casual.
Service was 4ish stars. The server in the lobby bar didn’t bring water on first request and had to be asked again after she brought our drinks. Other resorts I’ve visited in OC show a little more attention. Perfectly friendly but maybe just more casual. I did enjoy the pace though - not hurried. You could hang all afternoon as we did with a 3 pm lunch reservation staying til 8:00 pm. Almost like staying at the resort itself. You really forget that the world is going on out in the rest of OC.
I am local and took my girlfriend for Valentine’s Day. Very nice. It’s a bit like visiting Disneyland. You don’t go for the food, you go for the experience.
Love this place but at times the staff (blonde hostess) can be quite snooty. Giving you a dirty look when you request a different table at an EMPTY restaurant. Glad her attitude didn’t spoil my evening as this place is a gem.
That was hands down the best restaurant I have ever went to. The fillet minion and the customer service was top notch! I went there for my 1 year anniversary and I got a free cake and had my parking ticket paid for free (15$ ticket). The view is also breathtaking. If you are taking your girl make sure it’s at sunset ;) I recommend this place to everyone.
Food and service was great.
Spencer was our server and was absolutely delightful, attentive and knowledgeable on both the dining and wine menu's! A fabulous meal and wonderful ambience. Thank you so much.
As usual, our overall experience was superb. Our waiter was less than experienced though. He told us he had only worked there 6 months, and it really showed. We had long wait times between drinks, food, desserts and waiting for the bill. Other than that, it was superb.
Felt like we were in “an old folks home” to quote a local who loves the hotel but not this restaurant and she was right! The other restaurants are nicer. The food at Loft wasn’t special or that tasty. Just blah. The interior design is so depressing. Staff is fabulous so i feel badly for them but avoid this place and go off site or eat in the other two restaurants.
I loved the table by the balcony overlooking the ocean but I was disappointed when the waitress told me that we could only order from the brunch menu. I had invited a friend to celebrate her birthday Sunday, the idea was to have a quiet girl’s getaway lunch by the coast, but instead, we ended up ordering an omelette at 2:00 pm.
Very disappointing, specially because two tables next to us were having lunch. I have been to the LOFT many times but this is the first time I felt cheated & disappointed. With so many wonderful restaurants by coast, next time I’ll probably pick another one for Sunday lunch
Friends came up from San Diego and living in Laguna Beach, I wanted them to enjoy breakfast with a view. They had never been to Laguna or The Montage, so I wanted them to have an Amazing experience and they did. They LOVED It. Thank You for the Great Service and Friendly Staff. It was Perfect!
2 out of the 4 guests wish thee NY steak with coffee rub was back on the menu. The gluten free cheese rolls were amazing as was the other entrees. The Loft offers it all - excellent service, ambiance and consistently excellent quality food.
I love going to the Loft - it makes a regular get together so much more special. When my sisters come to visit from the “frozen tundra” otherwise known as Minnesota, they usually want to go to the beach to look upon the ocean and dream of sunnier days. The Loft is one of the best places to do that.
I will say this is the first tine I have noticed it wasn’t as special. Nothing too major and I would definitely not not go again (sorry - double negative) but just small things that had never happened before. It was mostly service related - I think they might have had employee turnover or were training newbees.
The waiter was ok but maybe nervous? He kept putting his hand on the back of my chair and leaning on it while taking my sisters order - it was odd. I even think he was jiggling his foot against my chair. Again - not a huge deal - except really dislike when people that - just a thing for me.
There were a few other things but so small I can’t recall.
I will say the food was as good as always and that is pretty damn awesome. Overall a very nice experience
Food and service were over the top amazing! The chef’s creations and pairings are excellent!
The Loft menu has changed
The Hamachi appetizer was oily with no flavor, we sent it back
The Sea Bass was ok but the portion was small and so thin you couldn't separate it from the skin
The creme brûlée was runny
I wouldn't go back to the Loft for dinner
It’s our younger daughter’s birthday dinner destination for at least 7 years now. This last dinner was the best we’ve had so far; though the cheese bread that we absolutely love tasted a little old or not fresh. The birthday cheesecake was good not as good a d as exiting as they’ve prepared in the past though. Wish Patrick was available as our server; he’d seen my daughter grow.
We had brunch with friends and celebrated a birthday. Food was delicious and service was outstanding. Would definitely return.
Avocado toast was sad at best. Certainly not high end. Pancakes were amazing though.
Great food and service as usual!
Very nice atmosphere and service! The oysters were incredible as was the entire menu
Food - excellent
Service - no comment for this visit
We are local and like to have breakfast here on occasion and enjoy the spectacular view. The property is wonderful and makes more a nice morning walk.
It was awesome. Beautiful view. Good bottle of champagne. Yummy breakfast. We celebrated a birthday and Christmas among friends.
Extremely poor service. The hostess failed to provide us with either a wine list or a cocktail menu when we were seated. We were at our table more than 15 minutes before we were greeted by our server. Once we were finally able to place a drink order, it took another 20 minutes for the drinks to arrive. Our meals were “fine,” but nothing special. Given the prices charged and the reputation of the venue, the experience was very disappointing.
Amazing service and terrific food.
The Loft is situated inside a fancy hotel Montage. When I made the reservation with Open Table two weeks in advance, the only time slot available was 4:45pm, much earlier than our usual dinner time, but I took it because I was curious about the restaurant. I made a reservation for four for Christmas Day, without realizing that it has a fixed three-course menu @95 each. Cancelation has to be done 72 hours ahead of time, or they would charge us the full amount even if we don't eat there. So we went there right on time. But the hostess wanted to seat us on the outside patio (on a cold windy day), and kept assuring us that the gas lamp would keep us warm. I complained about having made the reservation in advance and not getting seated inside the formal dining hall. Eventually the manager offered to treat my husband and me to a drink at the bar, while we waited for a table. We waited over an hour to be seated inside the dining hall, but felt angered by their overbooking practice. While we dined, there were quite a few empty tables, so we didn't understand why we were placed on the outside patio. The food was okay, but no Michelin quality, and the mandatory 20% service fees put the bill close to $600. This was a very bad dining experience and we will never go back to the Loft or any other restaurant at Montage.
Great experience everytime I dine at the Loft. Service is excellent, view is spectacular and the food is top notch. Highly recommend this place, especially if you want to impress out of town guests.
The food was delicious and the view spectacular. I do not like the parking fees. We should not have to pay to valet if you are dining here.
Amazing view. Great food and service
Gorgeous views and great service.
Christmas lunch—a once a year treat
Dinner was fabulous. Excellent views, service and food!
Really great Thanksgiving set menus. The food quality was amazing. I thought it was a tad over priced but overall very happy with the total experience.
Outstanding service, food, and presentation. This was a very special experience.
Went here for Thanksgiving Dinner and it was fantastic. The food and service was wonderful. Although we couldn't book a room at the Montage over the holiday, we were fortunate to dine here. I would highly recommend it!
