I recommend making reservations. The food was really good, service was great. It was a little loud for me and I think the prices are too high but overall good experience.
Seems to have gone down hill since out last visit in 2018. The food was decent but not great and they were out of king crab which meant many of the menu items were not fully available. We were disappointed and felt like it turned into a real “tourist trap”. Oh well, live and learn.
Hello, As you know, a lot has changed changed in the world since 2018 and we're working our hardest to adjust with the availability of the market. We know it can be frustrating when we are out of a product, but not everything is available to us when we order it and is largly out of our hands. We ask for patience and understanding, thank you.
Good food and service. Always busy. Difficult to be seated w/o reservation.
Our second "special" meal at the Lobster Trap, both were "the best of the best". The food and drink are extremely well prepared, well served and just delicious. The seafood is incredibly fresh!
Omg!!!! Amazing seafood! The oysters were fresh and clean, all of the lobster we had was cooked to perfection. This is a place I will come back to again.
We were able to get all of our favorite things: lobster bisque, oysters, lobster roll, lobster Mac and cheese!!!
Excellent food and service. We enjoy the Trap when we visit Asheville.
Problems getting seated at our reservation time, even though we had stopped by in person and had confirmed by text.
We apologize about the issue getting seated for your reservation and are working on a couple of kinks to make the process more seamless. Thank you.
We were very disappointed in our meals. Both orders of mussels were sent back, the lobster and shrimp were both over-cooked, and the salads mediocre. The lobster bisque and key lime pie were the best part of our meals.
Our apologies that you were not happy with your meals. We will discuss with kitchen and work on making sure everything going out is consistent. Thanks for the feedback.
Fantastic service and wonderful food. Will return again.
Great food and David was a fantastic server!
It’s a must for every visit to Asheville.
Love the fact that we can make a reservation on Open Table!
We were here for our anniversary, and the service was extraordinary. Maggie waited on us and made our night fun and very enjoyable. Despite the restaurant being really busy, our food came out quickly, hot and delicious. Other people working made sure our table was clear quickly after we had finished our courses. We will be back!
We had a reservation and arrived 10 minutes early and table was not ready, which is understandable however we tried to get a drink at the bar and were told we could only get one if we sat at the bar..?? What? Shuffled back to stand waiting at entrance at door. When seated, server was very busy but for sure trying to accommodate all her tables! Lobster roll, seafood sampler, shrimp and oysters were amazing! Skip the lobster Mac and cheese though.
If you love lobster, then this is the place to be. The lobster price is very reasonable. Lots of different options of lobsters on the menu. (lots of other great options too.) I would come here everyday if I could. I had the steamed lobster and I was in heaven.
Birthday. We have eaten here many times before and always enjoy it. The food is good and the staff is always pleasant. Our waitress was fun, professional and definitely on top of things. Enjoy the relaxing laid back atmosphere.
All was great. It was extremely cold in the restaurant which made me want to leave quickly. I was also very unhappy with my waiters mask that looked like is belonged at a KISS concert. He was a good waiter though.
We were in town dropping our kids off at camp.
Lots of lobsta choices with or without other seafood. Reasonably priced for lobsta.
Honestly we have never had a bad meal at the Trap. The food was fantastic! The service fantastic! Absolutely one of the best restaurants in Asheville hands down!
The food was amazing. A little pricey but that’s to be expected for seafood in the mountains. Lol
I heard it was a must while in Asheville and we were not let down! Will definitely be back!
Awesome food and drinks. Can’t go wrong with the Shrimp and Grits!!!
We were visiting Asheville for an anniversary getaway and our kids gave us a gift certificate for dinner at The Lobster Trap. We had a wonderful time and the food was great. Our waiter was wonderful and very attentive. He said it was his first night working there. We had lobster bisque, baked oysters and whole grilled lobsters. Each course was better than the last. I highly recommend a trip to this restaurant.
Other guests were sat near us with REALLY strong perfume/cologne on and made enjoying our dinner hard bc every bite tasted like their fragrance.
Would have been to have socially distanced tables
We really can't do anything about the strength of guests perfume/ cologne.
We had a wonderful experience celebrating our anniversary! The food was delicious and the service was excellent!
Outstanding! Maine lobster, Alaskan King Crab Legs, Lobster Newburg all over the top delicious. This is a definite do-over and a can’t miss in Asheville!
Great, speedy and friendly service. Awesome food. Great live music.
The food was overpriced and small quantities for the price amount. We were looking forward to going there for weeks and we’re very disappointed. The oysters in the Rockefeller were really small. They tasted good, but just small. Our main entree had so little food and we paid $76 just for that plate. The food needed more seasoning. I would recommend other places especially with the cost of this one.
If you like seafood this is the place. Service and food was great!!! Also parking downtown in the city is only $5.00. Cant beat it.
Food was great as well as service. Waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and made some great suggestions. We had grilled lobster, clams and shrimp, all great!!
Food was absolutely delicious, best lobster I've had in my life. Maple bacon wrapped scallops were amazing and melted in your mouth. Mom loved her birthday dinner and we had a great time!
Great food with large serving sizes. Grilled Lobster was excellent.
The Lobster Trap has been our go to place for our Anniversary and we love our King Crab and Lobster selections! We had a great server and the entire staff is helpful and friendly! They made our celebration special and memorable! Thanks!
We really enjoyed the seafood stack. Got to taste 6 different seafood and all were delicious and very fresh
This was the second time we ate at the Lobster Trap, and had similar experiences both times. The servers were great and very attentive with a goal to make the meal a great experience. I had the 1 lb Alaskan King Crab Legs ($50) and my wife had the Lobster Newburg. We were celebrating our 48th wedding anniversary and wanted everything to be special, but it wasn't. The crab legs were not sweet like they should have been and the shells were soft (couldn't use a nut cracker to crack them - they only bent under pressure). The drawn butter didn't taste like butter. The wine list was scant and overall the cost of alcohol was pricey. I have had better crab legs at many different restaurants, and the price was a lot less. The atmosphere is noisy and not very appealing. My wife said her newburg was good and had lots of lobster meat. I do not plan to go back there.
First time customer. service was on point. Bacon wrapped scallops app is a must get option. Lobster rolls were filled with generous portion. You can get “overstuffed” portion of lobster filling also. Prices are reasonable for the quality and portion size. The overall experience was fantastic and should be a must go to place during Asheville visit!
We had a wonderful waiter. Our food was delicious also. It was a very nice experience.
The cioppino was very watery, rather than soupy. The bread pudding was very custardy, versus bready, which I like for a change.
Shrimp and grits and lobster was outstanding. The service was perfect. Highly recommend!
