We were visiting South Bend for the first time and went to The Lauber for dinner - it was excellent! I had the Surf Duo, my husband had the Pot Roast Sliders and my son had the Plain Jane Pizza - all were delicious. Our server was attentive and fun. We sat outside on a gorgeous night - such a nice experience. Wish The Lauber was closer to my home. I want to complement the management & wait staff. There was a problem with my son's pizza, our server came out and told us before the food came out that his pizza would be a couple of minutes later and sincerely apologized. He kept us informed on how long it would be (which we appreciated) and then offered us free dessert for the inconvenience. Classy & professional. I've been to other restaurants that don't bother to tell you why the wait is so long and bring the food out so late - like when I've gotten an appetizer after my entree. Again, we had a great experience at The Lauber and I'll go back if I'm back in town.

In town for an overnight stop, and our daughter is vegan so we reserved a spot at the Lauber--what a great find! Nice beer selection, really good pizza and salad bowls. Overall, a wonderful experience! We will definitely return.

They handled my large group wonderfully, and we loved all the food and drinks. Was loud inside, but we were able to sit outside- the front patio was hot, and still a little loud, but overall, The Lauber was a fantastic choice! Thank you!

Food & service were excellent! Way too noisy inside-horrible acoustics. Ears ringing even after leaving. Couldn’t carry on a conversation. Would go back but only when dining outside.

Kitchen was slow even though they weren't that busy. Forgot my wife's order. We weren't in a rush but it was a little over the top how long it took. Great food. Server did a really good job too.

The night we had dinner was the time the electricity went out. It was dark and hot inside. Pizzas arrived late. My plate was lukewarm, however delicious. I would go there again.

The food was okay. The rigatoni was the best dish by far. The server did not seem interested in being there and they also charged $2.50 extra for a kids milk even though it said drink included. When we asked the server about it when we got the bill she told us that milk didn’t count. This should be communicated upfront or noted on the menu.

I am not a fan of piped-in music that someone else has chosen. The waiter was cooperative about turning it down a bit but I wish The Lauber would not presume to know patrons' musical tastes.

Service was great and food was good. A rain shower had just blown through, so we had to sit inside, which was VERY loud. — Higher exposed ceilings and very few soft surfaces allow the noise level to elevate quickly; we had a difficult time carrying on a conversation as we had to almost shout to hear each other.

We eat at The Lauber often. We each ordered something different. As usual, the chicken rigatoni was superb. The salads are always plentiful and delicious. We ordered the cheesy bread appetizer for the first time, and it was fantastic. The pot roast sliders are always a favorite too. Our server was properly attentive, and we had a great time. We were inside, but there were lots of people outside, enjoying the live music and the warm weather.

I'd been to The Lauber multiple times before and always get the Prime Melt. It has always been excellent until last week. The meat was dried out and had zero flavor. It was as if they purchased a cheap beef substitute and tried to pass it off as prime rib. Not only that, I was given the bottom scraps of french fries, all hard and dried out. I couldn't even eat my meal. Very disappointed in a place that I had always loved.

We shared the Beet salad. It was excellent two kinds of beets, goat cheese, mandarin oranges, lettuce and pistachios. Topped off with poppy seed dressing. We the had the Butcher Town pizza. It was also delicious. We really enjoyed the food and our waiter Tony was great too.
