The Lakehouse at Deer Creek has been named Utah's most unique dining experience. The restaurant features acclaimed Chef Tamara Stanger's locally focused "Utah Heritage Cuisine" in the incomparable setting of the shores of Deer Creek, with breathtaking shoreside views of the Deer Creek Reservoir and Mount Timpanogos.

The Lakehouse is open year-round and offers a seasonal menu focused on the bounty of our local farmers and ranchers, as well as unique ingredients foraged by Chef Tamara herself. We have a beautiful upstairs bar, a large indoor dining area with a mountain cabin vibe, and one of the largest outdoor patios in the state.

The Lakehouse is a multisensory experience. Even the beautiful drive through the canyons coming from Utah County, Salt Lake, or Park City plays into the overall experience. We pride ourselves in supporting local businesses and showcasing the incredible meat, produce, liquors, and beers the state of Utah has to offer.

Very unique menu with spices and grains I have never tried. Inside the restaurant is beautiful but not one person was inside because the views outside on the deck are amazing. Super casual outside. Would like to return in the winter to feel the inside vibe.

This was an extremely disappointing experience. There were 2 tables on the patio in the 90 minutes we were at this restaurant. They served us our drinks and appetizer and forgot about our food so the table that came 30 minutes after us was getting burger and fries while we still were waiting for cold sandwiches. They had a lot of excuses and alibis and weak apologies for this. Originally, they offer to take $7 off the bill. I protested and ended up paying $85 for a $120 lunch that I didn’t eat and none of us enjoyed. There was simply no excuse for this other than nobody really cared about providing decent service, not the server, the the cook and certainly not the manager.

Great food! It took a while to be served, but the atmosphere was quite pleasant. We dined outdoors and had an umbrella to shade us from the sun. The mocktails were amazing and the food was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend the scones as a starter!

This is the third time we have eaten at The Lakehouse. The staff was very nice and accommodating. We ate outside and enjoyed the views. My main issue was that most of the menu items were heavy food items...definitely not a summer seasonal menu. The prices were quite high. I had the tenderloin steak. It was a bit hard to cut but had nice flavoring. Our friends shared the meat loaf that was served on mashed potatoes and slice bread...not very attractively plated but meat loaf was tasty though. We probably will go back again but not in a hurry.

Definitely would not recommend going to this restaurant unless you call 1st to find out what they have on the menu for the day. We went there specifically for elk and was told that's only on the Winter menu from their website, we we were here in the summer, two days ago. Not only that but they were out of oysters and 3 other main things on their menu. Extremely limited and and not much to choose from for people who who liked land lovers food. Not a very pleasant smell because of the river right there it, was very swampy. In addition to that there were no shades on the window so if you sat by a window you had to shade your eyes while you decided to eat. We only wound up having a drink and a very small appetizer and leaving to go somewhere else.

My husband and I both left and before we got to the car I said, “It was fine, never again” in which he agreed. We spent $200 and we left feeling like we could have gotten better service at a drive-thru. Our waiter, Brandon, was just… not welcoming at all. We just watched him interact with everyone and he just seemed so off-putting, even interrupting his coworkers. One thing to note if you plan on going: there’s no substitutions (according to Brandon “that can’t happen”). Instead of swapping out sides due to dietary restrictions we paid extra for the sides we wanted and then both asked to have the potatoes taken off our plates and still those came with both of our dinners. I will note we both enjoyed the corn dumplings, his wagyu steak, and my bison meatloaf. The restaurant is in a parking lot of a state park with a beach. Take a screenshot of your reservation to avoid issues with spotty cell phone service (this will get you free parking). During the summer, just prepare to drive amongst a full parking lot of boats and cars going multiple directions.

The access to The Lakehouse is through a gate of a state park. Therefore a reservation for the restaurant which you can show at the gate helps to get free access. Outside seating views are stunning and enjoyable. Unfortunately not all appetizers were available, especially the one which we liked. We especially came because of the wild foods, Venison Tenderloin and Bison Meatloaf. The taste of the food was outstanding, but the presentation of the dishes, especially of the meatloaf could be improved. In general we enjoyed the dinner. Thank you!

We were there for lunch. The menu $30-$50? I ordered the lobster roll, it was very good but the lobster was chopped up quite small & served on a great tasting roll...but the roll was only about 4-5 inches long. Side salad was wilted. We had a party of 2, it was almost an hour before we got our food. It wasn't busy in the restaurant when we were there. The server didn't check if we needed more water. Dessert- the crust was overdone.

Excellent food, strange introductory experience. The restaurant description asks for “resort casual” attire, but it’s tucked at the end of a beach where everyone is wearing a dripping wet swimsuit and most of the lot is full of F-150s with boat trailers. Once you get past that weird feeling of not being in the right place and settle in, though, it’s a great dining experience. I will warn you that the cocktails were super weak—it was ok for me because I’m a lightweight, but you might get better bang for your buck ordering wine because I seriously couldn’t tell the difference between my drink and the mocktail my daughter had. Btw they have a selection of mocktails which I think is a nice touch for people who don’t/can’t drink. The menu has a good mix of safety and adventure. Don’t be afraid—nothing tastes weird. Portions were generously sized but not impossible to finish. Save some room for dessert because it’s tasty. We had blueberry pie and some sort of cake with goat cream and they were delicious. We also had a corn pudding which was interesting enough, but we just enjoyed the other two much more.

What a disappointment. We visited in the winter when they opened. They were out of 3 entrees but overall the food was good but service was slow. Decided to give it another try. The food was either underdone or overdone, service was abysmally slow—about 45 minutes of waiting for entrees to arrive and when they came the fish was raw in the middle, the medium rare burger was a charcoal briquet and the pasta was tasteless. The location is beautiful and the restaurant decor is nicely done. I hope they get their act together.

The food and service were just fine although the menu was rather limited and game oriented. The biggest issue is that it lacked any ambience at all. No placemats or table cloths. Not even a paper napkin under your beverage. Few decorations and nothing to tell the story of the history of the place. It almost felt like a pop up that wasn’t legitimately housed in the building, but trespassing. Nothing welcoming or inviting about it, no reason to linger over a cocktail or dessert. Fix that, and the place would be a gem.

Innovative Chef Tamara creates some very happy flavor/texture combos. At a recent visit, the roasted quail (breast) was paired with some braised/roasted radishes. Nice contrasts in flavors and textures, and the quail was so juicy and flavorful. We also tried the Pioneer Pie of the day, which was a bean and cheese chili enrobed in a very short flaky buttery crust. Filling, but so delicious! Brandon, our server, was knowledgeable and friendly. Looking forward to our next visit.

View, marvelous… staff, wonderful and fun… food was great, I’d say about 30% over priced and the Lake House should have people waiting it’s great, but the entire menu is too exotic for Utah and it’s only because Utah is a “meat and potatoes” place. I’ve been in the restaurant business (owned 43 at one time) and with a few simple change ups, the Lake House could keep its uniqueness and jam the place with customers. They have a very creative chef and a wonderful opportunity, they just need to tweak it a bit if they want higher revenue and a sustainable bottom line. We’ll go back. They’re just not getting the word of mouth they so importantly need. My two cents.

It took an hour and 10 minutes to get our appetizer, which wasn’t enough for five people and it was burnt. We were so hungry we didn’t care. Then my children’s food came out first after they were done we got our food. I was told there was roasted apricots on the trout there was nothing on the trout no sauce and it was raw I could’ve sent it back but I didn’t want to at that point I was tired and hungry and just wanted to go home. My sons dinner was cold. I have been there in the past and it was really good but it wasn’t good this time. Sadly disappointed. If the kitchen is backed up then bring tables some complementary bread or something. It was my birthday dinner. My teenage boys fell asleep at the table waiting. It was not a good experience and I hope they get it together because it is beautiful there.
