Whole fried fish is worth every penny. Others dishes were not so great. Service was lacking although we had young kids which the servers helped out with when they got tired/loud. Overall, this place was not busy at all for a Friday night meaning that they are likely not doing so well compared to others in the area....

Okay food and menu selections but nothing special. Food arrived before beverages. Very noisy - better place to grab a beer than to have a pleasant dinner.

A nice place, a very nice meal, the service was excellent. It was our first visit, and we have absolutely no complaints except for the fact that it was a bit noisy, but unfortunately most restaurants are, these days. One party starts speaking loudly, usually after a few drinks, then everybody around them needs to raise their voices to be heard, and pretty soon you have a steady din. The situation wasn't any worse than usual at the Koa Table, and in fact kudos to the hostess, who asked us if we wanted to be seated in the noisy area or the slightly-less-noisy area.

Went to this restaurant when it was called 3 Fat Pigs we enjoyed it a great deal, couldn't wait to get back. Noticed it's name had changed but was hoping for the same great menu, very disappointed it felt like any other convenient tourist restaurant. Nothing to get to excited about. Will not return on our next year visit. Truly Disappointed 😢

We ordered Saimin, the baby back ribs and the fried chicken. The Saimin was super and I substituted prawns for the pork belly - excellent choice. The baby back ribs were very good and fell off the bone. The fried chicken was dry and chewy. Overall a good meal and experience, and will definitely be back next time we are in the island.

Where to start? The most disappointing (and expensive!) meal of our vacation. Menu descriptions are artful however don’t match the reality of what arrives on your plate. Tempura green beans were described as arriving with two aoilis...one plastic container of commercial mayonnaise with a couple of sweet chilies arrived. Pasta aioglio was described as coming with roasted tomatoes. My dish had three HALVES of grape tomatoes. Then there was the service. We were the only diners at 5:30pm. Despite that our entrees arrived while we were still eating our tempura appetizer (delayed because I had to ask for Siracha and mayo to make my own so-called aoli to make up for the sad excuse for a dipping sauce that arrived with the green beans). We told the food runner we wanted to finish the appetizer first and yet our entrees were just deposited on the table. Lastly, I’d let the restaurant know we were there celebrating our second honeymoon. Not a word was said... Poor service, lackluster atmosphere and food that missed the mark. Don’t be sucked in by Chef Ippy’s background or the menu description. It’s an expensive ruse.

The food is eclectic and delicious - the Chinese Pork Belly, Lamb, and NY Strip were excellent. The daily fish special was really good, in the day we went there, with the Sweet Chilli Broccoli giving the meal a unique flavor. Our sever was very personable and provided excellent attention throughout the meal.

I was routing for this to be an undiscovered diamond in the rough, but I agree with previous diners- I expected more: better atmosphere, more innovative culinary effort and higher quality food overall. First impression: Inside the restaurant where most of the tables are located is really plain, low-scale - generic , plain furniture, no real nod to the Hawaiian location-they could also use more outside tables given the setting. As for the food, it was just okay - I had a salad to start which was ho-hum, ribs that were tasty but not particularly noteworthy served with two gigantic mounds of white rice, and creme brûlée which was fine. My companion said his bone marrow appetizer was great and oxtail stew entree was good. From a food competition chef background, I just expected way more. At least it’s a little more budget-friendly than other options on the Kohala Coast, which is good given what you’re getting. Pluses are the hostess and wait staff were welcoming and friendly, but overall service could be better if they learned to do more than just drop the plates and go- follow-up attention with diners should be more consistent at this price point. Overall, it’s a mixed bag- lower your expectations and you’ll probably have a decent experience.

This was our 2nd visit in 2 weeks. 1st time was Great! 2nd time not so good. There was a large table of 12 people & we think the kitchen couldn't cope. Our salads & entrees came out at the same time & our food was NOT hot. We think it had been setting for awhile & they forgot to bring it to us. Really wanted dessert but left due to poor service & feeling totally forgotten. They have good food..when it gets to you in a timely fashion.

We shared the tempura green beans. Good but very greasy. Shard the crab mac & cheese which was very good. Lots of crab! Husband had an excellent hamburger. The baby back ribs were moist & fall off the bones delicious! The chocolate lava cake was to die for. We would skip the appetizers next time. Will definitely be back to try other entrees. This place has good food & good service.

The staff was great and very friendly though not always restaurant professional. We had wine and the restaurant does not seem to keep the wines at a cool or reasonably cool temperature. Plus they sent out the wrong wines. They did correct this but still, beer, wine, non-alcoholic drinks should be the speciality of the bar and known well by the wait staff.

Overall experience was very pleasant. The manager and our server were both super nice and the food was delicious. I got the Siamin which was delicious, my boyfriend got the lasagna and wished he got the ribs (they looked amazing on the table next to us). We were sat outside on the back patio which had beautiful views of a small lake/pond.

Food was really good. The service was good when we could get someone to help - they were obviously short staffed but the team they did have was great. So, a scheduling problem?? We watched another couple nearly walk out but they talked them into sitting back down, but that meant the other tables didn’t get help for 10 more mins because the server spent that whole time appeasing the near-miss. But worth it even with the service issues. Food was so good we came back within 2 days.

The “fresh catch” fish smelled and tasted like it hadn’t been fresh for a few days. The mushroom and pea shoot appetizer has exactly one small pea shoot. It was really just sautéed mushrooms and onion with a lot of soy sauce. Drinks were not strong but tasted ok. Service was fine. Our waitress didn’t charge us for the inedible fish and we went somewhere else, never to return.

Inconsistent is the overall theme. Fried chicken plate was good. Pasta was embarrassingly awful. Fried saimin was flavorful but too sweet and oily. The service was slow and minimal. As locals, we always support homegrown businesses, but this place...no can. It feels bad to say that but the things that made our dinner a disappointment can be fixed and have nothing to do with being local. Hope this manaʻo helps them improve.

We made a reservation on the spur of the moment and they accommodated our party of 9 well. The food was good and reasonably priced for Hawaii. The area we sat was close to the front door and didn’t have much ambiance, and the floors in that area were kind of sticky (should have been cleaner); those would be my only complaints

A group of 6, 4 college-aged girls and 2 parents. Everyone had different entrees, lots of choices, everything was great. Not crowded on a Monday night, but we did make a reservation because of the group size. No special view, it’s in a shopping mall, and the decor was fresh but nothing special. We had a great reasonably priced dinner with great service!

Good flavors and menu concept; however, felt it fell a little flat on execution. I had the foodie saimin, and the broth came out really tasty. But the noodles were a little doughy and the crispy pork belly that came with it was cold and pretty much all fat. My partner got the hipster saimin and added pork belly to it, which they forgot to add. However, after we reminded them and they brought out a fresh side of pork belly, it was delicious -- hot and crispy. So... yeah. Lots of potential, but unless they can tighten things up a little I don't think I'd rush back.

We had three in our party. The restaurant was maybe half full so that doesn’t explain the slow service. It took 10 plus minutes to get our drinks. Our appetizer and salad arrived timely but after that we didn’t see our server for quite awhile. When dinner was finally delivered to our son’s swordfish was good but the short ribs and cheese grits my wife shared were cold. Cold cheese grits are not good. Our meal was not worth the price.
