   Lovely meal with our son and daughter-in-law. They've never been before and absolutely loved it. We were in the garden room. Amazing view and great food!

   Lovely old pub with a new (to me) light and airy annex restaurant as well as outside tables and traditional pub bars. Excellent mix and ambiance. Service was excellent, menu varied and appealing, food and drink all excellent quality. A trifle expensive, but so is everywhere!

   I hate leaving bad reviews and we really love eating here, usually! But unfortunately this Sunday on our anniversary of all days, my roast dinner was ruined by the potatoes. (They were as tuff as old Boots) and the vegetables were cold. I waited patiently for our waitress to walk by to advise her of the problem. Finally she came over to ask if we would like some more drinks. I request some fresh potatoes as well which were delivered, but by now I had been waiting approximately 10 minutes and the rest of my meal was cold too. What made it worse was the replacement potatoes were just as tuff again and inedible! They had clearly been sitting under a heater for ages. Due to this we chose not to have a desert… When presented with the bill, I spoke to a manager who deducted the cost of my meal off. But really this was the least they could do as our anniversary lunch had been ruined and I was starving hungry... We have eaten here a dozen times before and have always received good service and have also left glowing reviews. But would definitely avoid going back here again on a Sunday…

   As ever, we had an excellent meal; three different items off the Saturday lunch menu and all equally enjoyed. I can particularly recommend the Roast Hake. The beer, from the Longman Brewery was very good. The staff were friendly and professional during a very busy time for them. All in all, a really enjoyable lunch to celebrate my wife's birthday.
