Jackdaw or Jac-do in Welsh, is the nickname given to a person born within the castle walls of Conwy town.
The name is taken from the bird which can be found nesting in the walls of the town and castle.

Within the walls of Conwy Castle lies The Jackdaw, a restaurant by Nick Rudge.
Providing a unique Welsh Tasting Menu on Tuesday to Saturday evenings and 'The Nest', a reduced 4 course lunch Tasting Menu on Friday and Saturdays.

The Nest is a 4 course lunch menu priced at £35 per person in The Jackdaw, Conwy. We would love to welcome you on Friday and Saturday lunches between 12pm and 3pm. With delicious food and lots of wonderful wines by the glass, our menu changes very regularly, similarly to The Jackdaw's ethos the menu will change with the seasons around us! A taster for the tasting menu. The menu was limited but every course was just right and we added a cheese course. Portions were perfect and, in reality, a shared cheese board was a little OTT.

We were celebrating a special birthday and we weren’t disappointed. The tasting menu is a delight and kept giving our tastebuds a thrill. Service was respectful, informative but warm and friendly. Our questions about each course was never too much trouble. A lovely place to treat yourselves and made special by the outstanding food and service.

This is a creative, fine dining experience in a simply decorated room, where excellent Welsh ingredients are to the fore, presented in a friendly and relaxed environment.

This is the second time we have dined at The Jackdaw and the experience was even better than before which we had not thought possible. Michelin starred recognition must happen soon. Every aspect of the occasion was superb and we are countering the days before we can return.

I had a lovely evening with friends at the Jack Daw! We were made to feel very welcome and comfortable. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The food was fantastic! What a lovely experience! A little bit on the pricey side but it’s obvious there’s a huge amount of work that goes into preparing the food and everything else! Worth it for a treat!

We visited The Jackdaw in Conwy for the first time yesterday and were thoroughly impressed. Tucked away just a short stroll from the castle walls, this restaurant is an unexpected gem that blends creativity, quality, and warmth in a truly inviting setting. From the moment we stepped in, the atmosphere felt relaxed and welcoming, with friendly staff who struck just the right balance between attentive and unobtrusive. The interior has a refined yet unpretentious feel – modern but still full of character, very much in keeping with its Conwy surroundings. Lunch was a real treat. The menu was imaginative without being fussy, showcasing fresh, seasonal ingredients with flair. Every dish we tried was beautifully presented and thoughtfully prepared. Flavours were well-balanced and portions satisfying without being heavy. It’s clear that a lot of care goes into the cooking here. Service was smooth and friendly throughout – nothing was rushed, and we felt genuinely looked after. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to return before you’ve even finished your meal. For a first visit, The Jackdaw made a wonderful impression. We’re already looking forward to coming back – perhaps for dinner next time to experience more of what this talented kitchen has to offer.

We thoroughly enjoyed our tasting menu at The Jackdaw with a good variety of dishes. Highlights were the Summer Sip with wonderful flavours, and the Roast Pigeon Jelly, Cream of Crab - absolutely divine. Service was knowledgable, friendly and efficient. I highly recommend this restaurant. If I lived nearer to Conwy I would be a regular visitor.
