This was our second visit to an Ivy; the first was in York and had been excellent, and we had been wondering if Edinburgh would live up to our experience of York. We had no reason to doubt as Edinburgh was equally excellent. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were looked after superbly; the food was first class and we would return in a heartbeat …. Well done Team The Ivy 👏👏

Food choice varied and tempting. The dishes were outstanding, delicious flavours and attractive presentation. The waiter, Jason, gets a special mention as the level of service was outstanding; attentive, knowledgeable and personable. We will be back & would highly recommend the Ivy Edinburgh

Food was nice but nothing special. Our waitress was very nice. If you’re looking for a quiet place to eat then this wouldn’t be it. It was quite lively, but not in a bad way and anyway it was a Friday night. Overall, it didn’t live up to our expectations.

Very disappointed with the Christmas decor this year at the Ivy on the square. Compared to a lot of places in Edinburgh it was bleak we were really looking forward to seeing the choice of decor the ivy had this Christmas but was met with a plastic polar bear out side. we had to be asked to be moved from out table which was very draft to the point we had to put our coats on. This was our annual Christmas meal and the ivy didn’t at all delivery on the Christmas spirit. We felt like we were sat at a bog standard restaurant table not the charismatic charming usual ivy reputation. Upstairs lacked atmosphere here! We left the restaurant feeling deflated and not at all in the Christmas spirit. What was suppose to be a fun night left us ready to go back to our hotel hoping for a better night the next night.Only positive the food tasted nice.

Been to the Ivy a few times so we were looking forward to visiting again. However, the service last night was awful. We’d to ask twice for drinks to be delivered. They eventually arrived after the starters had been half eaten. The soufflé starter was uncooked, the main courses had to be looked for by the waiter as they took over 25 minutes to arrived. And when it did, the Brick- chicken was bone dry. We asked for the bill and were left sitting for another 15 minutes until we asked to pay again. At which point the same waitress we had requested the bill from asked US to show her our bill - even though we had never received it. It was all a disappointing shambles I’m afraid.

25 minutes over our time for when we booked the table. Had to ask for drinks. Second drink came wrong. Friends drink got taken away when she handnt finished it. Felt very rushed and had to end up booking a taxi to take us to castle light display we had booked or we would have missed it. Had no time to order desert. Would not go back to the Ivy in Edinburgh.

First table we were given was by the door with constant draught, moved to another table but saw numerous others being given our original table only for them to request to be moved also. Service poor, starters arrived before our wine that we had ordered did, main course then arrived before we had finished starters. Food was average nothing we couldn’t have prepared at home ourselves, very disappointed as we had previously ate at the Ivy in York which was great.

Oh so had a very charming waiter- he was lovely- a cheeky chappy... had lovely starter and main (should be for £50 mind) and then we decided we would just have a coffee rather than dessert ordered coffee and then a manager came over and said 'you've ordered coffee can you drink it at the bar as we need the table', I said no because I couldn't get up on the stools as i am dsiabled. He then said can we bring the bill when we bring the coffee. Yes no problem but 15 mins later we're still waiting for coffee and another manager came over and asked us to vacate the table! I said we ordeeed coffee 15 mins ago and still not here! I said we've come all the way from Peterbrough to have a meal and not a cheap meal and you want us to move and I can't get on the stools. He said the email booking would have said that we get 1hr45m to eat.... I picked up my phone and it was 6.28 and I said well we've got 17 mins left then! He didn't know what to say!! He said I'll sort the bill for you. My coffee came- all OK, mum's came- was cold, Jenny's didn't arrive (not exactly helping themselves here are they) by the time Jen got hers and mum's replaced I'd finished mine. Still waiting for bill.... it finally came with an £18.75 service charge on it. Well you can imagine at this point I was now getting angry... I called the manager over and said if you think I'm paying that you've got another thing coming!! He said I'll take it off.... I wouldn't have paid it if he'd left it on. I've left a scsthing review on trip advisor. It's a shame as couldn't fault our waiter and the food was excellent xx

Most of the food was nice, however, I thought my scallops were undercooked. When I informed the staff, they just said they would say to the chef but no one ever came back to our table. I would have liked to know if they were undercooked or got an apology.

Go every year to this restaurant at Xmas time. We waited 30 minutes to get first drink and that came off our allotted time. A one point a manager came up and rudely told us we only had 30 minutes left as they needed table. I had also made a complaint about the Xmas cocktails. £15 each and first ones were lovely then quality went down hill. I mentioned this to same manager and he said he would speak to bar person. Never came back to us We were also placed in table next to waiting staff area. This went non stop so wasn’t as fun and relaxing as should have been. Never had this type of experience before at the Ivy on the Square

Just a quick word of warning about the special "festive menu". This costs £50 for two courses and includes a Christmas cracker. A lot of the items from this festive menu are in the main menu. For example, crispy duck salad £9.95 and shepherds pie with turkey for £17.50. So, how is the fixed price menu good value? The two dishes here have a combined value of £28. Does that mean the Christmas cracker costs £22!!! That must be some cracker.

Food was amazing however we had a long wait (30 mins)between 1st and main course then as our desert along with minxe pie was put down we were informed we only had 15 mins left at our table. Tea and coffee requests were not taken until after desert was removed. Hardly our fault that there was a delay. Our server was very nice but did think the 12.5% service charge a bit steep and nothing said about leaving it as was.

Table for 2 was far too close to door. Really draughty, mum had to keep her coat on! Apparently no Eggs Benedict on a Friday. No option of lighter bites for a midday booking. Feeling a bit disappointed from our previous visits. Slightly off putting!!!!

The restaurant looked nice, however it was very cold when we were seated. We mentioned to a waiter who said he’d bring a fan heater, it didn’t come. we mentioned again to be told the heating had been broken for a couple of days. We expected a warm and ambient surrounding not having to sit in our boats when paying the prices we paid. Extremely disappointed as this was meant to be a very special meal

Starter and main meals were both luke warm. Chicken was dry. Bottles of cider and beer for the 4 of us were dumped on the end of the table along with pint handled mugs, for ladies. Drinks waiter had no interest and no idea on how to serve customers. Very disappointing experience and food at the Edinburgh Ivy.

We always enjoy our visits to the Ivy on the Square in Edinburgh and we visited there yesterday (30 November 23) It was Jammed packed so it was a good job we booked in advance. The meals that were being served to other customers looked lovely and well presented. We ordered the fish and chips and I had the Chicken brick off of the festive menu and both meal looked delicious when served to us. Unfortunately my chicken was not upto temperature and I had to complain to the waiter. There was not a problem and they replaced it with a freshly made one. I would recommend the Ivy On The Square Edinburgh where the food is great and the service was even better They adjusted my bill as an apology and as a jester of good will shich was really nice of them. I'm looking forward to our next visit.

Our lovely South African waiter was kind, attentive and had great Customer As opposed to his Manager who briefly came to our table to tell us he needed the table in 10-15 minutes. He didn’t say that to the table next to us who were there before us! This was a 70th Birthday treat and my first time at the Ivy. All the Ivy staff - bar one- we’re really Welcoming.

Starters fabulous and service brilliant but main courses didn't quite match up. Salmon delicious, sea bass fine but mussels not the best, steaks very disappointing....not cooked to request and tasteless.

Restaurant was lovely inside. Staff were very accommodating. Found the sirloin steak wanting as it is only served with watercress! for the price I would expect it to come with fries and perhaps some mushrooms. Loved the Ivy chocolate bomb sweet. Think the drink is overpriced.
