If I’m honest there was nothing wrong with the evening. Staff are faultlessly attentive but a little intrusive. I don’t really like being interrupted quite so many times. When my husband ordered the veal and it wasn’t available; we were asked if it’d be ok to wait whilst another portion was defrosted. I’m not an idiot, I know portion and supply control but it was a bit off putting to have it voiced in such a “Weatherspoons” sort of way. My cocktail did not stand up to the hype, the Amore e Oro was a very, very small Martini glass with a raw orange peel slice but was aromatic and ok. The ginger beer is always nice. So he chose steak tartare which was neat and well spiced, my tuna was overcooked for my taste (not that I was asked) but the salad and accompaniments were fresh and tasty. The truffle Parmesan chips were well cooked but lacked luxury being a fairly dry mixed sprinkle. All in all I’ve been wondering for a while if I just go for the loo wallpaper, I do keep giving it a chance but I think there are other dining destinations that deliver ambience and quality for the buck. It’s ok, but not much more than that.

The Ivy is a lovely place with extremely pleasant staff and nice atmosphere. However you are really paying for the name. I could have bought 2 decent bottles of wine for the price of an extortionately priced glass of wine/prosecco. The food was very nice but very small portions and you need to purchase extra sides as generally most mains weren't served with vegetables etc. Again I could have probably bought 6 broccoli for the cost of one portion. I get that they have to pay staff/overheads etc but the bill for 2 of us was over £100 and service charge also added

Fabulous food as always. However it was not easy to get the British Icon menu we had gone for. The waitress said she had just come back from holiday and didn't know anything about it! I looked it up on my mobile to check still available and it was. Really enjoyed it but hope if special deals are offered the staff are kept updated in future.

Lovely high end service with white table cloths and extremely decorative interior design. V comfortable seats and excellent vegetarian and vegan food choices. Plenty of room to have a long relaxed lunch in elevated surroundings. Excellent discreet friendly service at our corner table. I have booked afternoon tea for next month.

Overall a very disappointing visit. I have been to several Ivy restaurants over the years, and always enjoyed the experience. However yesterdays lunch was definitely not up to standard. The service was very slow, with me having to catch the waitress's eye on several occasions to get her attention. We were asked when she finally took our order, if we had any allergies. The friend I was with stated that she had an allergy to fresh, uncooked tomatoes. We ordered a portion of Courgetti fritti to share to start, then both ordered the Ivy Classic Shepherds Pie. The courgetti fritti took about 20 minutes to arrive, and when our plates were eventually taken away we expected our main courses to arrive shortly after. We waited, and waited. In the meantime the tables either side of us filled, and while we waited both tables were served their first and then their main courses. Eventually after about 45minutes the Manager came up to inform us that the kitchen were concerned that, because they use fresh tomatoes in the Shepherds Pie it might not be suitable for my friend. When I asked the Manager why it had taken the kitchen so long to make him aware of their concern, he just apologised for the delay. My friend decided not to chance the Pie, and asked what was the quickest item on the menu as we had been waiting so long. We arrived at the restaurant at 1pm and finally left at 2.50pm. It took nearly two hours for us to be served one canape course and one main course. It was all the more disappointing as my friend had been ill for quite a long period of time, culminating is a heart operation recently, Not only was this her first opportunity to come out for the day, it was also her first time at an Ivy and she had brought me a voucher as a thank you present for my support over the course of her illness. When we got the bill, I was pleased to see that the cost of the Shepherds Pie I had, had been taken off, which I felt was justified under the circumstances

The service we received from the staff was excellent. The food was enjoyable and of good quantity and quality. Two comments. 1. The wine glasses used were not wine glasses but tumblers the sort of glass a pub puts half pints in. My main criticism concerns the mark up on the wines which were excessive. I have bought some of the wines on the list from other suppliers and the Ivy's mark up was £30 plus in some instances. We have been to the Ivy a few times and always found the service and the food very satisfactory. I hope the above helps.

We booked and arrived and we seated at our table, friendly and attentive staff. Food was average for the price and burger and chips didn’t really fit with the ambiance of the setting. Various mistakes made with our order, even though we had said right from the beginning I wanted a vegan menu, waitress was slow to sort issues also. They had removed the dessert after us waiting over half an hour for sorbet ?? Definitely style over substance in my opinion, beautiful setting but average food that is overpriced
