Booked in advance for breakfast while visiting Dublin, greeted by friendly hostess, ordered breakfast from waiter - pancakes, granola, granary toast, americano and tea. Pancakes and granola arrived some time later - no sign of drinks or toast, asked waiter and he said they would be some time. Finished eating pancakes and granola, had to ask waitress yet again about drinks and toast. She brought drinks some time later - still no toast. Cancelled toast with waitress and asked for bill. Was disappointed service charge was already added to bill. Paid and on way out explained our disappointment to hostess.
Very impressed over all, the venue surpassed my expectations, 🤗
Nice decor, however the table setup was disappointing. Food average and service not attentive and slow.
Food was tasty and not outrageously priced but service was poor .
We were disappointed with quality of food . And the service was rushed .
Lovely food , great service ,
Music a little too loud
Wine probably a little overpriced
Good night overall though
When we arrived the receptionist could not find our reservation and told us quite rudely that our table was cancelled since we arrived 25 minutes late. While we were in fact 25 minutes late they should have called us before cancelling our reservation which was for 5 people. We were left feeling scolded as if we were children and really this is not acceptable. After a few minutes the receptionist found us a table so there was in fact no need to have been so rude in the first place since there was a table available all the time. Your reception is part of the service and having to pay a service charge of circa 40 Euro which was added to our bill Hurt. The food was superb the table service quite slow however the waiters were extremely efficient and friendly. The noise level in the Resturant is too loud and the disc jockey is a waste of time just adding to the noise with unnecessary base levels.
Nice setting over priced for food . Food was good. Wait staff were very good.
Good options for vegetarian and vegan people. Almost all of the cocktails were made with gin and I would have liked to see more variety in the liquor used.
Waitress overworked. Noisy. Otherwise good.
We've been a few time, love the food but the service always lets the place down. We had one very pleasant waitress and a few unpleasant & unhelpful waiters.
One waither wouldn't look for Olive oil- he said they had none left!! Another was very rude when asked for more butter.
The food is worth going back for but the 12.5% service charge should be an opt-in option rather than an opt-out option. At least until the floor staff are properly trained.
Lovely evening, lovely food
Loved everything about it, food was incredible as was the service!
Lovely venue, my third visit there for lunch.
Great food, friendly staff,
Perfect place for a nice leisurely lunch away from the hustle and bustle of the street .
Great food great service and fantastic surroundings
I dined in The Ivy on Monday night for my prtners birthday and it was delicious. Although myself & my partner really enjoyed our meal, we still managed to leave with a bad taste in our mouths.
I think we were seated @ table 17. Our total bill came to €103. We used a €100 gift voucher along with a €20 note to pay. After being left waiting 20 minutes for our change, i had to make eye contact with a waiter & he said he was going off to get our change. After another 15 minutes, we were still left waiting with our coats on & not one member of staff approached us, i would go as far to say, they went out of their way to avoid us. Said waiter never reappeared.
In my eyes this is totally unacceptable & we are still owed our change, which staff in any restaurant should never just presume is theirs to keep.
Reservation was made for 7:15pm on Monday 20th Made for a table of 2, under Zöe Hickey
The food was lovely and quite reasonable. Service was very slow, on more than one occasion had to make numerous attempts to get the waiters attention.
I had heard a lot of mixed reviews before booking but went ahead and booked to see for myself. I was disappointed with the experience, I wasn’t impressed with service, we were left at the table for at least 15 minutes without been asked if we wanted water or a drink and had to call to waiter to place our food order. When the food arrived the starters were ok but Mains was a different story, I ordered a Rib Eye Steak Medium which came well done, by the time I managed to get the attention of the waiter my partner was nearly finished her meal so I wasn’t interested in having to wait for another steak to be cooked, for the price of the steak it was also very tin and not very flavorful, it looked like a very cheap cut of meat.
I won’t be rushing back anytime soon
A cheerful & bright interior, background music at just the right level. The staff from the door to table were excellent, the staff are always a sign of a good restaurant The food was of a high standard, complimented with a good crisp Sauvignon blanc, we had a very enjoyable experience. We will go back, we will recommend it to others.
Fabulous place. Afternoon tea excellent and decor amazing. Let down by non attentive staff, so many roaming around but none to take care of our table...
Awful awful food. Prawn cocktail was in lettuce that was brown and the tomatoes I could have made soup with. My partners chicken was like a birds eye frozen piece of chicken. I would never ever go back! Actually so disgusted by the food when they charge high prices and use the worst ingredients.
Lovely brunch with my two besties. The menu had something for each of us and we are a difficult bunch. Two vegterians and one pescatarian left very happy. Great atmosphere and even better service. Dessert was heaven!
Lovely menu for brunch. Lots of choice. As always the ambiance is second to none.
Will definitely be back.
I went with an open mind having read some dreadful reviews beforehand. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Although it was a late sitting on a very busy Saturday night, the buzz was great and the staff very professional and attentive. The food was very good. In comparison to its London Ivy counterparts, it lacks the 'classy' feel. There are too many seats to allow for attention to detail but, having said that, I would go back and would certainly recommend the Ivy, Dawson Street. Well done to all concerned. Keep up the good work.
Nice venue but for me, too chaotic and noisy on a Saturday night due to groups of parties. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Food was good but unfortunately, I didn't get to eat very much as the Crab I ordered had fresh chilli in it although the menu had not mentioned chilli in the crab, which meant 24 hours of being very unwell for me.
We were treated to a lovely mini desert as it was our anniversary, which I thought was a very nice touch. Lunch or early evening is in my opinion a more relaxed atmosphere.
Amazing food as usual & our waiter Gabriel couldn’t do enough for us great service 👍🏻
Fab waiter Joseph.
Unfortunately it fell down on two things:
1. Had drinks at bar. Don’t agree tip should be included. Enjoyed 4 Prosecco. Ordered 2 tab waters and the drinks were just thrown down at us. Should have been treated in same way as other drinks.
2. 40 Euro of extra drinks on our bill that we did not order. Could have missed it and lucky we saw it. Came back again with some of the drinks removed but not all. This is bad form. If we hadn’t checked it would have paid €40 plus tip. Controls should be in place so that this does not happen.
We had a lovely night for my sisters 40th. The food was delicious and the waiters were so friendly and professional. Thank you.
Service was excellent, food was excellent, consistent every time we've gone.
It was nice. Food was good, nothing extraordinary. Definitely paying for the name and experience. Would go back but would recommend other venues which would be nicer and better value for money. Don't agree with the 12.5% gratitude being added on (usually this is only seen in larger group but it seems the standard).
Super food with a great local variation on the usual Ivy menu. Excellent service and atmosphere
Highly recommend. What a wonderful experience. Food was excellent, service was outstanding. Will definitely be back again very soon.
Our first time in The Ivy and it certainly lived up to our expectations. Stunning decor, lovely ambience, excellent staff & service and lovely food. Surprise, lovely touch by giving us a small celebratory dessert for our anniversary. Will definitely be back, highly recommended.
Very atmospheric, a nice buzz and a great selection of food
Exceptional food and great atmosphere.
Staff were very friendly.
Went to The Ivy Dawson Street on 18/5/19, for Saturday Brunch. Delicious food (my Strawberry Sundae dessert was one of the best I’ve ever had), excellent drinks (Espresso Martini with salted caramel was exquisite) in lovely surroundings with an impressive, central bar. The ladies washrooms were luxurious, as I would expect from a 5-star establishment. Will definitely be back, hopefully for a A La Carte evening dinner. Travelled from Belfast to Dublin for our reservation and it was worth it.
I don’t get why The Ivy is so popular. The restaurant is really loud, everyone sits really close to each other, I went to lunch with my friend, we sit next to a couple who are celebrating their anniversary, which should be like a special moment for them, but yet, because we were sit really close to each other, they kinda ruined our lunch. The table was so close like we were sitting in a Starbucks. And because there are tables every where, the restaurant is really loud and people have to speak more loudly to hear what they wanna say.
Also the service is horrible, they charge you service fee without your permission, which supposed to be cool. But the waitress who service our table, I don’t know what she is doing, she is keeping ignoring us, every time we want to order something we whether have to shout out loud so she can hear, or just keep watching her till she looks at our table, WHICH NEVER HAPPENED. I don’t know what she is doing with her job. She didn’t ask me if there’s need for coffee or anything after the meal. And if you trying to get something, it’s take ages for her to fetch.
Also, the food in the restaurant is disgusting, not to mention the steak is so rare like I’m eating a beef when they were still alive. They ruined the Creme Brûlée. How can a restaurant failed at a Creme Brûlée? This is MISSION IMPOSSIBLE, yet The Ivy successfully achieved this goal. They made the most disgusting Creme Brûlée in my life. The eggnog was so sweet that you will feel like they put the whole pot of sugar in it, also the caramel top is really horrible to taste, for it was sweet around which is cool, but in the middle they put too much fire to it, makes it tastes as bitter as possible.
I guess if there’s anything The Ivy is okay is the location and decoration. But I will never ever recommend this restaurant to anyone, since there’s more cool restaurant with much more better tastes food.
Would recommend for atmosphere as I have been here at 4.30pm Friday; totally different to 9am Saturday when we practically had the place to ourselves. The food is average really; nothing spectacular
Very poor breakfast food was cold as was the coffee the orange juice was not fresh squeezed juice. When we told waitress the food was cold she wasn’t interested and made no effort to resolve it
Booked for drinks for 3 people but when we arrived we were told we they don’t offer bookings just for drinks normally and that we needed to also get food. We had already gone for dinner so we just ordered dessert.
Service was pretty bad.. tried to get a waiters attention and they just rushed by and pretended they didn’t see us.
Didn’t enjoy the experience and wouldn’t go back.
