Fabulous food even though this was the last night before lockdown the service was great. Will definitely go back as soon as we are allowed.
The food is consistently better than good, the staff are always lovely, the ambience is fun and it just makes for a great night out with good friends. This time, All three of the main courses I tried to order were sold out (it was Nov 4th!)...and in the end, the manager gave us a bottle of wine to make up for the lack of meal choice - how lovely! Cant wait to go back on Dec. 4th!
No great ... nothing left on the menu ... waited an age for our orders to be delivered from wine to food
Had to prompt for everything. Other table asked after us got theirs.
Understood totally it was the last night before lockdown... but it was a birthday celebration that I booked a month earlier so did know about the lockdown.
NO IVY standard and I am a local.
The best starter and desert i have ever had in my life. Burger i had was also good but could have had a little more source. My wifes filet steak was excellent.
The food wasn't great, the steak was pretty poor quality. The GF transparency was poor
Delicious food and excellent service throughout. All staff were very attentive to my nut allergy and made sure to explain what I could and couldn’t have. Can’t wait to return after lockdown!
Really lovely afternoon. Shame about the very noisy man on the table near us, who seemed to love the sound of his own voice and got louder the more he drank!! Not The Ivy's fault unfortunately they can't choose their customers.
We had a lovely lunch at The Ivy, Guildford. Considering all the restrictions, social distancing etc the restaurant was wonderfully spaced out but not so that it felt odd. The staff were lovely as usual, constantly sanitising their hands and wore masks. The food, as always, was superb. Will be back as soon as lockdown ends.
We have always enjoyed dining at The Ivy, Castle View.
Every time we’ve been we have never been disappointed, we decided that there could be no better way to start the second lockdown than by being with friends for a lovely lunch.
It was disappointing to be restricted to the time we could spend together, time limited, but at least we didn’t have a hangover 🥳😂.
Can’t wait to return as soon as possible after 2nd Dec
Good ambience, impeccable service and very good food.
It is a pity that we were rushed to vacate our table. We were four people and spent a lot of money. I do not expect to be asked to vacate my booked table at a certain time in a restaurant of this quality.
Really lovely venue as always for a girls lunch before lockdown. Service courteous and attentive and the food excellent.
I’ve been to the ivy many times, you can’t fault it. it really doesn’t disappoint!
Our favourite place for people watching, great food and wonderful service.
Always enjoy our visits to The Ivy, it’s a lovely treat.
We were told as soon as we arrived we only had 90 minutes to eat and get out as they needed the table at 9.00 then all through the meal kept reminding us we had to leave
Sadly a disappointing visit on this occasion. Seated (at 6.30pm) in smaller, quieter dining room on the 1st floor, despite empty tables seemingly available in the beautiful, buzzy 2nd floor space. Our allocated table was right in the doorway with all the comings and goings between restaurant floors, yet other better placed tables remained empty. Blackened Cod (a former favourite) wasn't up to it's usual mark. Slow drinks and food order service impacted our agreed 1.5 hour time slot. We had to draw attention to this. My dining companion was still eating her main course when the bill was presented to us at 7.50pm with a request to vacate in 10 minutes. This was a first visit for my family member and I was reluctant to sour the occasion by making any fuss. I remain loyal to the brand but keep the standards up, Ivy Guildford.
Great ambiance, lovely cocktails and helpful staff
Lovely but very rushed. It was really busy and we were given from 5:30-7:15pm to eat a 3 course dinner. It felt rushed and our bill was presented by an embarrassed waiter saying “you know we need that table back in 5 mins”. We had to take our unfinished wine home. Disappointed.🤨
Accommodated my elderly parents at a fabulous outside table between two efficient heaters. Great service and lovely food- it was a real treat.
Excellent experience - staff were superb. We felt very comfortable with the measures the Ivy had put in place for Covid.
I love The Ivy , Guildford. On Tuesday 3 November it was terribly crowded - market day, lockdown in the Thursday...
Nevertheless we had a lovely time and the food was delicious.
I can’t recommend The Ivy highly enough. Great ambiance. Delicious food. Great team. It feels like a real treat.
Perfect place for a mother and daughter catch up.
Just a very pleasant environment over looking Guidlford, its castle and hills, making it a perfect place for brunch.
Once again an outstanding experience, with amazing food and drink and faultless service.
The food was fantastic but felt that the service could have been more friendly and approachable.
Poor service by staff, we had a total of four waiters, none of them paid any attention to us, plates left to pile up beside us, had to ask for drinks, yet all of the staff stood behind us at their serving bar/counter talking amongst themselves! The last waiter to serve us was absolutely terrible, no people skills whatsoever and was not grateful for our business, no please, no thank you, no have a nice evening, took our money and said nothing! Shame as the food was delicious. Ivy Guildford you have some way to go, the staff need training. I will not be returning to Ivy Guildford.
Best quality meal, we ordered an afternoon tea set and the taste is still brilliant as always.
However, there is a room for improvement on responsiveness from restaurant staff as I had to wait for more than ten minutes when I asked one of staff to refill a pot tea until I get it.
Anyway, in overall, I still pretty much impress and will definitely comeback again.
Was all going Ok until we were refused a desert as they wanted the table back even though we had to wait a while for the starter and main. They are trying to turn over too many tables and ruined the experience.
Excellent food and service. Highly recommend. Also felt safe with their Covid measures
All really easy and felt safe and well distant from fellow dinners. Great service and helpful waiter.
My husband and I went on Saturday night with another couple. My husband had the scallops starter which he did think at the time weren’t cooked enough.
Within an hour of getting home he spent the rest of the night with either one end or the other down the toilet.
A perfect evening on a day when the news about lockdown was rubbish. Thank you
We had a fantastic evening at The Ivy in Guildford. Everything from the food, the environment and the service was perfect. We indulged in lots of delicious cocktails too. Can’t wait to go back.
I love the Ivy, but on this occasion my dinner was cold.
We had a table of Six and my friend had the same as me - the lamb with artichokes. Her food was stone cold and she sent it back to heat up. However we were a bit embarrassed to send mine back too as we had booked the table.
Then on the bill at the end we were charged for 7 main courses.
I was shocked by this .
Another great experience at your restaurant, I came with my friend to enjoy the evening. I’m very impressed with the booking slots 2h is enough , I like hand gels on the table so you can use it whenever you want. Food as always very tasty and very good service . I hope you stay safe during another lockdown
Amazing place and food we love it
We had Afternoon Tea with a view of Guildford Castle with the sunset in the distance. Could not have asked for anything more!
It was a buzzy atmosphere and I suppose too quite loud for an afternoon tea so even at our small table we had to strain to hear.
The food was mainly good, the bread used for the sandwiches was a little hard from being prepared early and put in the fridge. The scones were lovely and the cakes ok.
Overall general good value and the staff were professional and it was nice that they came and checked in to see if we wanted anything and if all was ok.
