Family of 4 for my 50th birthday celebration .Staff we’re friendly and attentive.Food was amazing and I recieved a small birthday cake with candle for 1 , such a nice touch
Highly recommend the Ivy lovely place , ideal location , fabulous , friendly staff
Defiantly be going back
It was a first time visit for my friend! She loved the decor, the ambience, the food. We will definitely be coming back again! The only aspect that let the evening down was the service but it didn't ruin our evening!
The food, service and views were excellent. Would definitely recommend!
Excellent food and service at usual at the Ivy, cannot fault it!
Delicious food served in style with excellent service . Lovely atmosphere and classy decor!
Lovely lunch, nice touch for our daughter’s birthday. Great experience.
Very pleasant experience with delicious food. Service was prompt, friendly and helpful. With it being lunchtime and half term there were a number of children but this only contributed to a slightly raised noise level which was not a problem at all. Atmosphere was relaxed and customers were clearly enjoying their visit.
Lovely as always! Delicious food, impeccable service and friendly staff.
There were 4 of us at 6:30 on a wet Sunday evening. We had asked for a window seat but this was not available (they were only for 2 people), which was fine. However our table was quite small and in the middle of the room. The restaurant was busy and there was background music; we felt a bit squashed and my daughter (who has ASD) really struggled with being in the middle if the noise and the bustle, although she has always been fine at this restaurant before. Next time we would ask for a quieter table at the edge of the room.
The food was excellent as always, and the little anniversary cakes were a lovely surprise. The small table meant rather a squeeze to fit the mains and sides on - really that size table was a bit small for 4 people.
Service was reasonably prompt (with a bit of a delay between clearing the mains and bringing the dessert menus). It was a shame that there was nowhere to put coats - the cloakroom wasn’t offered and there were no hooks - a long coat on the back of a chair got in the way.
We were celebrating two birthdays and were seated downstairs in a quiet room with minimum staff rather than the more buzzy upstairs area so might be good to clarify this in advance.
Food and drinks were outstanding
The meal was excellent as was the service. Slightly noisy when we first arrived but this quietened down later.
the environment is quite good and I am impressive in services.
Food was great the service was excellent and the surroundings are amazing!
Cant fault the amazing food and value for money however having a 2 hour slot i felt that the experience was rushed as we didnt have time to enjoy the dessert that we would of liked as these needed to be cooked.
Fabulous luncheon as always. Great service great food made to feel very welcome. Moved to the bar after the meal as we were over the allocated time for our table but again we were made to feel very welcome at the bar.
Fabulous all round, wonderful restaurant with excellent service, staff couldn't do enough for us. The menu has so many options its hard to choose and everything we ordered was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. I highly recommend this Ivy its one of the nicest in the chain.
Amazing and delicious as usual! Service was faultless as was the upscaled hygiene. Will be back soon!
Lovely food. Excellent Covid safety measures. Wonderful staff.
They accepted a reservation for 9pm. This is the first time I have been out for a meal since lockdown, and was only informed of the 10pm close once seated (not clearly posted on website). As such, meal was incredibly rushed, and put a real dampener on the evening. The food was good, but half the main course and the dessert was packed to take away (Not what one would hope from an expensive night out). I understand the COVID restrictions, but wish this was made clear in the website or when booking through opentable (I would have made a reservation for an earlier time at a later date - we can’t be the only people to be caught out by the new restrictions).
That said, the staff were courteous and took social distancing and PPE very seriously, which was excellent.
Lovely evening, The Ivy is such a treat, dinner is always very special
Would really recommend - great food and cocktails. Staff were amazing, could not fault the evening. A little piece of normality in a very different world.
Lovely service , amazing cocktails. Food is average
A really lovely evening as a celebration for a friends upcoming wedding. Staff were attentive and lovely and the food was incredible.
Excellent food. Service OK. Starters took a long time given how many staff were on an appeared very quickly after we reminded them.
excellent food and service as usual thank you. We will be back.
Great atmosphere in these difficult times. Excellent service and a brilliant duck salad. Champagne was nicely chilled as I have complained once before about temperature. Great response from the floor manager about my concerns. When my time slot was up I was asked to sit at the bar without time limit. Very considerate.
Greeted warmly by the maitre de and promptly shown to our table.
2 members of our party were delayed and we we reminded that we would need to vacate our table at the appointed time which wasn’t a problem.
Our waitress was delightful and professional and the food delicious and superbly presented.
Will definitely making another visit for a special occassion
Great food. Our server was fabulous not to pushy but sooeared to top up drinks etc. Really enjoyed it.
The Ivy was a great restaurant to celebrate my husband’s 75th Birthday with some of our family. Our grandsons said the steaks were the “best ever” !
Loved the atmosphere, so nice to have a buzz in these covid times !
As we are not from Guildford the address we had was 98 high street
We walked up and down the high street and could not find it the Ivy holds your table for 5 minutes only
So I called and spoke to a member of staff and asked her where it was she said I can’t explain I’ll pass you to someone who can
I thought that was very odd that a member of staff could not tell us where the restaurant is I was passed to Alex who managed to explain exactly how to get there
It is in a shopping centre on the 2nd floor there are no obvious signs to point you in the right direction as we are from Eastbourne I think we would have struggled to find it
On entering we approached the booking in desk and despite 3 members of staff standing behind the desk we were ignored 2 members of staff males wearing dark suits I assumed were managers carried on having a conversation the other member was busy on the computer and eventually she acknowledged us and took us to our table the 2 males carried on chatting
We chose the ivy because we have eaten in both Brighton and Tunbridge Wells restaurants and had excellent service and food
Our initial experience with Guildford fell very well short of our previous visits to other ivy restaurants
The table staff that served us were absolutely fabulous and so was our food and wine
Shame about the managers
Being Coeliac I would really love to see more gluten free options in the menu, such as gluten free buns with a burger rather than a burger between two slices of gluten free bread. The same would apply to muffins and pancakes, breakfast sausages. These items are widely available these days gluten free. A separate gluten free menu with a more comprehensive choice is overdue Ivy! Côte have a fantastic gluten free menu so at the moment, Cote is always my first choice.
Our original booking for 8.45 was changed to 8.15 after we realized how tight that was if we had to leave by 10. 8.15 had not been available to book but when I rang to ask if we needed to preorder in order to get two courses in time the receptionist juggled the bookings. Hurrah. Top marks.
We are regulars at The Ivy and we haven't had a poor meal. Good quality relatively simple dishes full of flavour.
We ate in the lower restaurant. Lovely vibrant colours. Very pretty surroundings. The alcoholic hand spray has changed from a Tequila one to Limoncello. We kept using it!
Food and service was good but was a bit shocked to get the service charge added to the bill. I was under the impression that tips were voluntary and should be 10% of the bill. Service charge was 12% and not voluntary.
We were taken downstairs initially away from the atmosphere. Not sure why. We were moved back upstairs upon request though. The menu was pretty basic, which surprised me considering the Ivy's reputation. The service was a little better than some restaurants but equal to others. The atmosphere was great though.
Celebrating my wife's retirement we chose The Ivy for this special occasion as living in Guildford for many year, we haven't dined here before. We were very impressed by the quality of the food and service - on par with expensive London restaurants. We only had a 90 minute slot but the service was very prompt and courteous, and so managed 3 courses and coffee. The ambience was pleasant, but quite noisy. Would go again.
A usual the Ivy Castle view was excellent. Service, food and the ambience was first class.
Couldn't ask for better service and food was amazing. Highly recommended.
We had a wonderful time. The service and meal were both lovely
Quick, efficient and professional service, staff were attentive and pleasant, an all round good experience.
