From 18th century coaching inn to landmark destination. The Highwayman has always been a welcome haven for those who journey to Nether Burrow, close to Kirkby Lonsdale a busy market town since Saxon and Norman times. Now a Ribble Valley Inn it brings a new dimension in enjoyment and relaxation to this picturesque corner of Lancashire, just a stone’s throw from the borders of Yorkshire and Cumbria.

The menu at this English Country Pub inspired by Nigel Haworth, Chef Patron of Northcote Restaurants. It's a magnificent tribute to the traditional specialities of the area...but with a delightfully contemporary twist. The extensive wine list has been chosen by Northcote’s Craig Bancroft. All of this in a wonderfully relaxing environment for eating out - with al fresco dining in the summer and crackling logs fires in the winter.

Lovely bar to meet up with friends. Great menu selection for vegetarians or particular diets. Good selection of ales. We were not pushed to leave after eating, very relaxed and welcome atmosphere. Our friends from Wiltshire were very impressed. Always recommend the Highwayman.

It was a very enjoyable experience. All six of our party enjoyed every dish. It's a pity my wife and I live 270 miles away.

We took friends to dine at the Highway man last Friday as they advertise on their website 'Chippy Tea Friday'. We were there at 6.15pm and 'Chippy Tea' is supposed to be available until 7pm but I still had to ask the Waiter about this offer as we were only given the Standard A la Carte menu. The fish that we were presented with was the smallest I have ever seen - all very embarassing when with friends. The portion of peas was also pretty pathetic. We were giving the Highwayman a 2nd chance as were very disappointed on our last visit but we will definitely not return.

We've been going to the Highwayman since it opened. We tend go once every 8 weeks or so and we love it.
