Tough to bet the view. If the weather is nice, sit outside!!! Great food, service. Ambiance is tough to beat.

Excellent service and gluten free options (especially the bread) was outstanding. Lots of kids playing baseball…maybe a little too close to the dining area.

We ate at Hawkeye both nights of our stay. First night service was terrible. Our server took at least 10 min to greet us and said they would return shortly. After taking our orders we did not see her until we were almost done with meal. Did not check to see if meal was correct ir whether we needed refills if drinks. My swordfish was excellent but prime rib was tough and chewy. Second night were seated outside snd Rebecca our server did an excellent job of taking care of all our needs . Burgers were good.

We had always wanted to dine out at the Otesaga (can't afford to stay there, with nightly room prices from north of $500 to nearly $1000), so I took my wife there last evening for her birthday. The resort's prime dining venue, the 1909, is closed Mondays and Tuesdays, and we weren't overly impressed with its menu (other than high prices). For the most part, the Hawkeye came through. As one might expect, it was fairly busy though the room began to clear out about an hour later. Although we had booked 6:30 reservations well in advance and arrived on time, we had to wait 10 extra minutes for a regular table to become available as my wife does not do well with high tables. The food was excellent; my one gripe was that the hummus with fresh bibb lettuce, wonderful sliced tomatoes, and baby beets did not come with crackers or anything else to lather it onto, so we had to use our table bread and rolls. They have a decent selection of gluten-free (for my son). Service was a bit uneven (I asked our waitress twice for hand towelettes after munching on very good chicken wings, and the second time she replied they didn't have any) but acceptable overall. (It was nice when a floor supervisor asked us about our meal.) From sitting down to walking out, our meal time was about an hour and 45 minutes. $180 for three adults including three entrees, two apps, one side salad (beet salad--also very good), one shared dessert, and one glass of wine ($17), and about 18% tip. Overall, a pleasurable experience and, yes, we'd consider coming back. Tip: The hotel has free, unmonitored parking, and is easily close enough to the main drag in Cooperstown which will save you a few bucks on metered parking. And stroll for free around the lovely grounds before or after your meal.

Our party tried a wide variety of dishes, some excellent and some not worth the calories: Highlights: Edamame Dumplings- delicious savory appetizer with great flavor Steak & Prime rib- perfectly cooked and what would you would expect at a mid-tier steakhouse Caesar Salad with grilled shrimp- the shrimp were large and had a wonderful smokey flavor Mediterranean flat bread- great mix of kalamata olive and artichoke hearts -perfectly crisp Chocolate Stout cake- very rich and indulgent Lowlights: Red Snapper- was so over salted it was inedible Swordfish- quite dry and tough Salmon- Dry but still palatable Bakery ordered red velvet cake- extremely dry with very hard icing During our first and second visits we had Nikki and Kurt as our servers- they were both very attentive and helpful Our final visit we had Linda who seemed annoyed and quite sharp, but perhaps was just overburdened with tables. In general the view from the patio is lovely and I think it's possible to have a good meal here, but I wouldn't recommend them for important dates or celebrations as it seems like the service and quality are quite variable.

It took 2.5 hours to get hamburgers and fries. The manager didn’t help after being notified and did nothing to make it right.

My husband got the roasted brussel sprout appetizer and said it was excellent. He was also very pleased with the prime rib dinner. I had the edamame dumpling soup for an appetizer and it was very good. I got the Bianco pizza and would have like more vegetables on it but the flavor was good. Be prepared to ask for a spoon. I had to ask for one for my soup. We both had the creme brûlée for dessert and it was served with forks. It is hard to eat a custard out of a round ramekin with a fork!
