Second time at the Halyard, was a pleasant dinner experience like the first time. Will going back in the future when in Greenport.
Thank you so much for your kind review! We look forward to having you join us again soon!
I had the vegetable bowl with quinoa and white beans and it was outstanding!
Birthday dinner. The food was exceptional, but we were seated by a very loud table. Not the fault of the restaurant at all, but I do wish we’d been seated somewhere quieter.
The only real issue I have is that the chairs are monstrously uncomfortable. They’re pretty, but after an hour of sitting, I was definitely ready to get up.
The food was really really good. I’d definitely go back.
The Halyard Clam Chowder is an absolute must, sit outside if you can!
My husband and I were visiting the area for my birthday and decided to try this restaurant. The hostesses were great, very friendly and welcoming, as was our server. The wine list was great, offering local Long Island wines as well as some from California and all over the world. We chose a French white blend, that paired well with the Tuna and Swordfish that we had for dinner. The fresh biscuits with salty butter, was a great addition to our meals. To finish off the meal, we shared the Panna Cotta. It was delicious! There was a very energetic vibe inside the restaurant, that did make it difficult for conversation at times. All in all, we would definitely go back.
Thank you so much for your kind review! We are so glad you enjoyed your experience with us and hope you will join us again soon!
Hostess was wonderful. Food and service was impeccable. A perfect way to spend my birthday!

Great view & top notch food
Thank you for your review! We hope you will join us again soon!
Beautiful menu (to read) , but food itself not particularly good:( :(
Great setting and lovely service.
We went for our anniversary dinner and it was great!
Thank you for your review, and thank you for choosing The Halyard to celebrate your anniversary!
The view, the food and the service were top notch. The mussels and broth were terrific - must also order the salted bread to soak up the broth. A new favorite place!
Thank you so much for your review! We are so happy to hear that The Halyard is your new favorite place!
The ambience and decor are wonderful. However, the service was on the spotty side.
The mussels and oysters were great but the sword fish entree was very disappointing. The piece of fish was maybe 1/4-1/2” thick and small for $37?
Actually for any price!
Great place for drinks and apps….
We were fortunate to get reservations for both a lunch and a dinner on the beautiful outdoor deck this week. Both meals were outstanding. For lunch we had the grilled swordfish tacos which were amazing. For dinner, we each tried different fish preparations which were both delicious. We were equally impressed with the hot and cold peach dessert. Our servers were helpful and friendly. All in all, a great experience.
Thank you so much for your kind review! We are so glad to hear that you had a wonderful experience at The Halyard, and we hope you come back to join us again soon!
Without table cloths in such a large room with vaulted ceilings it was very loud. Our group of 4 had to yell to be heard at our own table. You heard silverware echo off of plates, etc.
The menu does not have a normal salad on it. Just an organic bowl from Ira's Farm that was pretty much herbs only. Stems and all were on the parsley, basil, thyme, and other herbs. It was awful unless you're a rabbit! We returned each salad for something else.
They ran out of the main fish dish on the menu and also the substitute fish they had to replace it. We had a 7:30 pm reservation on a Monday night. ?? We we in one of the most famous areas for fresh fish. ??
They did have a Weakfish item and Fish and Chips available. They were not the sort of fish dinners we were looking for so we had to settle for muscle appetizer and a lobster roll for $38.00 that was served cold and came with fries.
The restaurant was understaffed which caused delays and chaos all around. It was not an enjoyable experience.
The food was mediocre at best and while the view is very special, you mostly can really appreciate that if you are seated outside (limited) or by the window.
My husband had perhaps one of the worst salads ever served and when we told the waitress how bad it was she simply said sorry. No manager or anyone else came over. Both of our meals were served cool-not at all hot-and the swordfish was over cooked. All of this at very high prices.
If you’re going for a great meal skip it. If you want a beautiful water view than you might enjoy this..though a hand selected gourmet Picnic on a beach May get you better results !
Great views for dinner! Food and ambiance was great. Service was somewhat lacking, but think its just a new/young staff nothing to actually complain about! Everyone was very nice.
The food and the ambience compensate for the lack of service and attitude starting from the hostess and reception. Complements to the chef, the swordfish was one of the best we’ve had, pork belly is a must if your a meat lover.
They must make better seating provisions for couples and not treat them as outcasts.
Just awful. Service was really poor. Food was way below what you should ever expect from a restaurant which seems to promote themselves as upscale. Beautiful view.
Please do not waste your money. Too many great places in the area to put up with this type of experience.
The Halyard Restaurant was fabulous at helping us celebrate a very special occasion!
Thank you for your kind review, and thank you for celebrating you special occasion with us at The Halyard!
Food was delicious and service was great!!!
Thank you for your review! We are so glad to hear you had a pleasant experience at The Halyard !
We came to celebrate our anniversary in September and very pleased with the food overall. We had the hummus and mussels to start and then for mains the swordfish and fish/chips. Swordfish was delicious but fish and chips were rather bland. Should have ordered anything else but. The cocktails were very very tasty, would certainly come back and sit at the bar. The ambiance was lovely! You could see the sunset from anywhere in the restaurant and after dark, still Pleasant and romantic lighting with low noise. The service, however, was the most disappointing part of the evening… the food was delivered to table before we finished any part… the worst is having a full table of appetizers and then dinner arrives. The waitress was literally running around the restaurant going absolutely crazy… maybe understaffed? But with a food runner and a water guy, I’m sort of surprised she was as wild as she was. Also - a few things on our check we didn’t order but they took it off easily but not without waiting another 15 minutes to get it taken care of. Maybe during peak season it would have been better? I would recommend the restaurant - hats off to the chef for sure, but plan to be patient with the service and hold the waitress at your table until you get everything you need because you won’t see her for a while.
If I could just rate the view, this would get 20 stars. Spectacular. Go during daylight hours, and sunset if you can. Outside is just a killer view, with the water lapping under your feet. Service and food were really good. Waiter was very knowledgeable and made good recommendations for the wine. I am looking forward to going back.
Thank you so much for your kind review. We cannot wait for you to join us again soon at The Halyard!
Everything was great but we would suggest that sound proofing the room would add a lot to the experience. At times the noise level felt as though we were in a school cafeteria.
Beautiful restaurant with amazing food!!!
Thank you so much for your kind review!
Great food from appetizers thru main course, dessert and coffee, we were even comped Prosecco as part as f our birthday celebration. We’ll be back again!
Thank you for your review! We are so happy to hear you were pleased with your experience and you will be returning again soon!
Went while on vacation with friends for the weekend, after winery- hopping all day. Everything was excellent including a beautiful sunset. Only slight issue was our waitress was very young and inexperienced and really not of the caliber that one expects at a high end place. That said, she tried hard and when one entree did not get served along with the others, they took it off of our bill without our even requesting it. 😊
Thank you for your review! We are so happy you enjoyed your experience at The Halyard! We hope you will be joining us again soon!
Elton, our server, was amazing! Explained the dishes and the menu in detail. This might be the best restaurant on the North Fork so far! Definitely an amazing all around experience.

Our anniversary dinner was terrific

We went for my wife’s birthday. They had nice GF options for her. Oysters are delicious. Excellent lobster roll . Ceviche on pineapple was a different take and yummy.
The wait staff was very attentive. The topper 180 degrees view of Long Island sound.
Thank you for your kind review! We are so glad to hear you enjoyed your experience at The Halyard! We hope you will be joining us again soon!
Very nice experience. Amazing that a 50’s hotel could be re-invented into a place with such a cool vibe. Remember many times driving past on the way to see my fam in Shelter Island this time we stopped and had a great meal with sensational views!
Thank you for your kind review! We hope you decide to come back again and visit us soon !
Service good , pasta doughy, pannacotta terrible.
Great service, great food, wonderful ambiance.
Thank you for your review! We are happy to hear that you were pleased with your experience at The Halyard !
the view was amazing, and the truffle tartine was delicious
Sauces were good swordfish was thin and dry. Halibut was dry
Humus was ok
My family and I were vacationing in Greenport and made reservations at the Halyard the last night to celebrate my birthday. The Hostess was rude, our Server couldn’t remember our drinks, and the food was not worthy of the prices. My halibut was overcooked and dry and the Romesco sauce was congealed and baked to the bottom of the plate as though it was left under a warmer too long. My 10yr old daughter ordered a cheeseburger that was scorched and well done and instead of buying buns that fit the burger, they oddly took a larger bun and tore little pieces from it to make it smaller. My son’s food was ok, and my husband liked his meal but did not think it was worth the $40+ price tag.
Magnificent A+ setting on the Sound. Excellent, well-meaning service. Chef Bogardus' cuisine esp entrees is superb, A to A+. Starters are creative - some succeed, others get at least a B. Traditional drinks like a Negroni are excellent. Experimental ones, not so hot. Noisy but charming. Overall a really fun place with tasty food and super water views esp at sunset. Great for mostly all occasions.
Food was excellent and the view of the ocean was great. Not a lot of options on menu and food is a bit pricey.
