The Greyhound in Sydenham is an ideal London pub for brunch, lunch, dinner or drinks. First opened in 1720 and still going strong to this day, The Greyhound is now a contemporary space where the decor is cool and pub fare superb. For brunch or lunch, tuck into anything from black pudding bubble & squeak through to a fish finger butty, then at dinner you’ve got the classics like bangers & mash as well as modern staples like the Buddha bowl. The Chef’s Specials section of the The Greyhound menu is where to look for a little finesse, and here you should expect dishes along the lines of ballotine of pork belly or grilled lemon sole fillet. The Greyhound is a Sydenham gem and you’ll find it on Kirkdale, right by the main train station.

Well I was disappointed that open table let me book on Christmas day whilst there was no availability whatsoever when I got there. Not sure whose mistake was that. I would have appreciated, however, from the management at Greyhound to had sorted me a little space as I was by myself.

Booked for Christmas Day through OpenTable. Arrived to find that our booking was not registered and was told they were fully booked months ago. I explained they were still taking bookings through OpenTable and the manager said he would try and squeeze us in. After this bad start however, we did get to eat an hour later and the food ( a 3 course set menu) was delicious! Worth the wait and initial stress!
