Good Food and drinks. Our table was set up in an inconvenient spot that people kept bumping into us and it wasn’t as private as having a booth set up.

We took my dad there to celebrate his 75th bday. He loves Hawaii and tiki style atmosphere. He loves it. Our sever was awesome, atmosphere lots of fun. We were able to bring our 12 and 13 year old kids since our reservation was pretty early. Food was okay for me. I think everyone else enjoyed their meal. I had a mai tai that was really good...not too strong.

The heater area inside was too hot and for being tiki drinks they weren’t strong.

Atmosphere was nice. Wish there were more tables than the few short ones they have.

Bad management and college kids running the place. No phone number to contact them and they literally sat my reservation party of four then 10 minutes later they asked us to move because the DJs friends were coming and needed that table!?

They offered to buy us a punch bowl to move. Maybe that works for college kids but not when you’re an adult looking for a respectable place to spend your money and be appreciated. Not for me!

Our party of four had a fantastic time. The atmosphere literally takes you away from everyday life and transforms you to island-syle places you'd rather be. Additionally, the food was generous, great tasting and filling. Three in our party had poke. With the poke bowl, there was a huge half of avocado. Our waitress was ideal. She kept our water glasses full with cold water and was quick to bring the drinks ordered. I had a drink called, "Painkiller," was was exceptionally good.

The night was such a huge success that I sent a text message {with pictures} to my daughter in New York stating that we had to put Grass Skirt on the list of must visit places the next time that she visits.

Entrance is through the pike sho next door. It’s a speak easy...but it has a huge sign and you can hear and see people making it very confusing on where to enter

I thought since I’d been here before and experienced it it wouldn’t be as exciting as the first time, but it was just as great. The food was so amazing, especially the pork belly buns. The food is so great and the guava drink just tastes like pure happiness.

The drinks were great, the wait staff was attentive and our server gave good suggestions to our British family that had never tried tiki drinks. The bao bun was also fantastic. The last time we were at TGS was the night of Tiki Oasis, I wasn’t impressed with the drinks, but this time they were AMAZING! The Tiki Tony’s Mai Tai was the highlight but the Professor Feathers was also a treat. I was always iffy on bringing a group larger than 3 to the Skirt, but I’d happily bring a big party again after this trip.

TLDR: fast and tasty drinks even with a larger party, good bao buns, stellar service.

The noise level was a little loud and the drink service could have been a little faster. We waited an hour between drinks but over all the staff was friendly, accommodating and I’d defiantly go again.

My husband and I took his Mom and Dad for a tiki night here and had the best time!
Loved everything about this place from the secret entrance (which took us a phone call to the front to find our way in-lol) to the flamingo bathroom and decor to all the staff and servers and the drinks were all delish! Everyone loved their choice! We had previously had dinner so just came in for drinks but the food smelled super yummy too! We can't wait to come back, already made another reservation for next month to bring some friends :)
Awesome job Grass Skirt!

Every time we come here it’s always a unique experience! The service is awesome and you can tell everyone who works here wants to be there. And they always remember us, especially Thomas. He’s the best! I love the chi chi’s but it’s great to adventure out on their extensive tiki cocktail menu. We come here when we have family and friends visiting or when I’m just craving the yummy poke bowl and addicting okonomiyaki fries. We have two girls 4 and under and they are alway accommodating. And don’t even get me started on the ambiance! It is truly one of a kind. Thank you for always treating us like family!

This is a fun and Novel place to experience. I thought it was cool how You are received by the host into in the kitchen. From the kitchen it looks like you are going to enter the freezer but really its the entrance to the dining area. There was a lot of thought put into the creation of the "tiki" polynesia atmosphere that they created. Its very ornate, trendy, dark and vibrant all at the same time. I really thought it was cool.

Lets talk about the drinks. They had a pretty good selection of polynesian style drinks. Their basoc mai Tai was pretty. The drinks featured pleasantly intense fruit flavors good. They were good but expensive.

Lets talk about the food. I'm going to start out by saying that i am critical of the price of their food. We started out with Ban Ban with short ribs. Although the flavor was rich, we thought that the meager portion of meat was waaaay too fatty. The serving of Shishito peppers that we ordered was lacking in flavor. I wanted to taste sesame, garlic and soy but but those flavors were not prominent. My wife ordered a poke bowl. It must be stated that the quality of the ingredients was very good but the depth in variety in toppings and flavors did not compare to some of the smaller poke chains and restaurants. I had the kimchee fried rice. Again i was critical of the price to the offering.

Lets end wit the service. The service was excellent. The staff is very attentive and very very friendly. They really did everything that they could to ensure that we were content and satisfied. I really appreciated the efforts of the staff.

In closing i thought it was overall way too expensive compared to what you actually got. We had 2 drinks each, a Pupu each and an entre each but spent $100. Comparing this place to other similar style places that i have been too i thought that it was very pricey compared to what you got, BUT its a novel experience a d i would take a friend back for the novelty.

I made reservations for New Years eve for an early dinner well in advance for 3 people inside and requested a booth.
We were sat outside, I mentioned to the hosted that I requested inside and a booth for our reservation she said my reservation said outside and blamed technology. - I had a copy of the reservation via email and it said inside with a request for a booth. We were sat at a high bar around a small fireplace and they sat the next people who came in at a table. If we had just come for drinks it may have been okay, but we came for dinner with our young son and it was early.
After waiting a half an hour, we cancelled our drinks with the waitress and told her that we decided to leave because it was not comfortable. On the way out the manager gave us his card and said to call him and gave us a couple of excuses. I understand it is busy on New Years Eve but if you cannot honor reservations for tables, you should not take them. Pretty disappointing experience.

Awesome environment and great food/drinks. We were quite pleased with our experience at Grass Skirt, but did not know that we would be arriving to such a limited menu. We went in on Sunday at 3pm and apparently from 3-5pm there is a very limited selection of food. We got conflicting messages about if we could or could not order from the main poke place to bring it in, so we wound up just eating a few appetizers as lunch. Oh and their Brussels sprouts are probably the best I’ve ever had in my life.

We were seated 15 minutes after our reservation time and then seated an outside table when I had specifically requested counter seating inside when I made the reservation. It took awhile for the waitress to finally come out to us and although she was lovely, the whole experience was a little tainted. We felt like an afterthought and an inconvenience. Food came out fast but everything tasted like fish sauce. The one shining star were the drinks - they were delicious!!

Sippin Santa was so much fun. Bought our mugs so we can use again. Wish I could de-create the Tiki drinks but that probably won’t happen. Food was great, served super friendly and attentive. Definitely will be back again!

I asked the waitress to purchase the surfing santa mug. She said yes. When we was done with our dinner. She came by again. I reminded her I still wanted the mug. She told they were sold out. Not cool teel me yes then no. Told me I can order it online.
I cant not find it
As I waited for our bill to come, waitress was 2 tables away talking to another couple for a food minute. I waited, then she finally came by asked if we doing good.
Yes, I said while you were chitchating away, I was waiting for my bill. She rushed away and didnt say word to us for rest of the night.
Are reservations was at 5pm. I wish we had better night, but she ruined it for our date night. We came frm la for date night. So disappointed. Not even any feed back or apology. Nothing

While i love the decor, drinks and music at the Grass Skirt, the food was terrible. My meal was not hot when it arrived then my friends meal came out at least 10 minutes after mine. The food didn't seem fresh, was dry, and very plain. I got the english muffin egg sandwich and the acai bowl and i think the egg was precooked/frozen as was the acai mix. Additionally the reserved table was a little awkward and uncomfortable since we were eating sitting next to each other with a bench as our table. We faced another couple with the same set up.

I'll definitely go back but I'll not get food again.
