Stop by after work and gorge yourself on a savory turkey sandwich or a gluten-free dish paired with a glass of wine. The Gnarly Root is open Mondays through Sundays.
Had a 6:30pm reservation for three. When we arrived, the place was CLOSED! Something about a party that was cancelled. It would have been nice to be advised before going there!
The Gnarly Root is permanently closed as we
discovered when we arrived for dinner August 19
When we arrived to try this new place, they were closed...doors locked and a sign on the door saying they were closed. Very disappointed.
This restaurant is closed and appears to have been for a while.
OPEN TABLE, PLEASE REMOVE FROM LIST!! I drove 2 hours round trip for this place. :-((((
I rated highly because it would have been good, I'm sure.
The place is CLOSED!! Yet you accept reservations for it.
Great place. Food was excellent. Service was good. We really like this place and will be back.
Food was served luke warm, including the mashed potatoes. The tempura vegetables were pasty and cold. Server used his hands to guide food to plate We will not be going back.
Food was fabulous and tasted amazing. My only glitches were the sparse décor and the waitperson who seemed to be rushing us despite the dining room being relatively empty. Would definitely go back and am super excited about having this restaurant in Parker. Great location right by 470 and Parker Road.
Unique menu options
The service overall was pretty good. The appetizers were okay. We ordered 4 burgers 3 beef and 1 Bison all medium 2 came out medium rare one medium well and the Bison over well done. They were happy to take it off the bill and replace it but its hard to comprehend how you can cook 4 burgers so far off of each other at the same time.
hopefully they can get it figured out,,,,
Nicely remodeled from the previous establishment. Odd combination of dining plus Polynesian dancers? Ran out of bottled, non alcoholic drinks. Good was disappointing, lacked creativity and flavor.
Best meal we have had in a long time. Everything was delicious and prepared to perfection including the organic grass-fed bison steak with mushroom sauce, the local fresh mixed green salad with tofu, strawberries and edible flower, and the lentil quinoa soup. We split the salad and steak as they were quite large and we were filled to the brim with satisfaction. Very Yummy!
The Gnarly Root was well outside the normal restaurant fare that my wife and I enjoy, but turned out to be pleasantly different. The menu is very detailed, noting vegan, vegetarian and meat items as well as glutens, nuts and other allergens. Service was quite pleasant and paced well. The food was delicious and portions just the large size of perfect. Overall, a very pleasant dining find!
Food was good. Waiter very inexperienced, unsure of himself. Took forever to get tea and water to table. The restaurant is loud. All hard surfaces. Chairs are uncomfortable. Food was pretty good and quality though some portions are too small to justify cost. Fix your portions, get some better wait staff and do something about noise and seating and you have a decent restaurant.
Waiter was very rushed & not real friendly. It was open-mic night so a little loud in restaurant. Loved the food! Prices good
They have a small music room. The ordering was a little time consuming on their tablets, but the waiter was awesome, fun and efficient with our various dietary needs. They accommodate a lot of different allergenic and dietary issues.
This is about the tenth time we have eaten at the Gnarly Root since it has opened. The food is excellent, and the owner is a real nice person. It is a great place to go. The only short-coming is the service can be a bit uneven. But they just opened a few months ago, and that can be expected.
My wife and I brought in my parents and sister who was visiting from South Dakota, and my sister loved the food so much, she went back the next day with her daughter. My wife and I went back on Sunday. We are meeting friends there on Friday for Happy Hour, and cannot wait.
Nice refreshing restaurant. Tired of cheap, barbeque or fast food restaurants in Parker. The food was good, fresh vegetables and fruit were wondeful. A little pricey but understandable for quality.
We really wanted to like Gnarly Root. The food was good - fresh, well prepared and presented but the service was horrendous. Management needs to take the time to actually train their wait staff or hire experienced servers.
I hope they can get the service part of the business figured out because it would be nice to have good farm to table restaurant in Parker that we could go to on a regular basis.
The food is good, menu font way too small, wait staff mostly good (we had to ask twice for napkins), music /entertainment odd (sometime hula, other times Lawrence Welk-ish), way too many empty tables for dinner. Lots of competition in Parker, they need to step up. Seems like they created a restaurant they would like instead of what their customers would like.
Party of 5 and all of us loved our dishes. I didn't read the reviews before going but now writing one and they must be listening to the feedback cause our experience tonight was very good. Other reviews state the food is bland but None of us found that to be the case tonight. In fact we all mentioned at the end of the meal that the flavors were so good. Not one bland dish at our table, service was very good, attentive, prompt. We did go later in the evening so the dinner rush was well over.
Had the shrimp scampi (catch of day) with linguini, side of pesto asparagus was perfectly done and seasoned. Hummus was excellent, stuffed cremins (mushroom) were full of flavor. Salmon and beet salad all very tasty. The asparagus salad was very large portion and nice to see how fresh everything was.
This was my second visit as I was hoping to get better service than the first visit. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. We waited 10 minutes until anyone approached our table and finally the bartender served us but got both our orders wrong. Will wait at least 6 months to visit again to see if they get the service/training issues worked out.
I was impressed with the menu and the restaurant theme. It is a nice change from the chain restaurants. I thought the food was slightly above average. The veggies were well prepared and the main entrée was fine - the Chicken Florentine and my wife had Salmon both ok - not a lot of flavor to the dishes. The service was good. Our server was very friendly, and provided recommendations, since it was our first time at the Gnarly Root. Overall, we thought the prices were a bit higher for the freshness (farm to table). I will be back to try their brunch.
Our family was very disappointed with our overall experience. I wish I had read the reviews first. I think the owner has a great vision & the opportunity to fulfill a huge need, but thus far has fallen short. I was searching for a farm-to-table restaurant. Although I feel the owner could benefit from more research into a healthy diet, as well as many of the dietary needs of our day, I feel my main frustrations would be shared by the average customer. The restaurant was not busy at all. Half of our table asked that the coffee/creamer/sweetener keep coming. Half of the time it was impossible to find our server to get a refill. I was a bit surprised to find out they cook with a vegetable oil blend and many of their menu items contain soy and use agave for sweetener. My daughter was hoping to have a smoothie with a few alterations but was told they have not been able to serve them for months. Then we thought we might have a side of carrot/parsnip fries and again we were told they hadn't had them for months. Update your menus, cross them off until you can, or have your servers inform customers upon being seated. In the end our order (party of 8) was very simple. A few breakfast burritos, pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, etc yet our order took well over 40 minutes to receive and we were missing a meal. It took a while to find our server and let him know. The food was pretty bland and the bill came to over $80. Again, quite disappointing. I hate leaving bad reviews, but I hope this will help others and give the restaurant some things to strive for. The location is great and it's really cute inside and the local art (though overpriced) is a nice touch. I hope they'll be able to make improvements and stick around because as I said there is a huge need for healthier restaurants.
This was our first time at the Gnarly Root. We are always happy when the Parker area gets a restaurant that offers a healthy alternative with interesting menu options. We will return for sure.
Awesome crowd, good food and an excellent stage
LOVED the vegan food selections; the Redamame Bowl - it was amazing. My spouse loved the spicy vegan burger. We also LOVED that we were seated (at our request) in the quiet area of the bar - the main dining area was too noisy for the two of us. We were hugely disappointed that the Open Mic was cancelled - that was the reason we went. We were disappointed that the owner/server didn't know that the Lentil Shroom burger is no longer offered. The owner/server was busy and not very attentive, but the bartender was super sweet to check on our needs. They did not seem to know when we asked about vegan desserts that this does NOT mean gluten free. The GF desserts were terrible - I would say inedible. They kindly comped us on them, but that was appropriate - they were terrible. I would give the restaurant another try (perhaps with a friend, my spouse will not go again), just because it is so very hard to find vegan food to begin with, let alone really good vegan food. The two dinners we had were amazingly delicious and satisfying. They need to find a source for a vegan dessert, even if they only offer one. I could give them some suggestions!!
We was hoping for a great find in Parker; unfortunately that is not what we found. I felt nickel and dimed to death. I do not like paying for everything ale cart. I opted not to pay extra for a sauce on my fish. My Colorado Bass was full of bones and when I asked the server if that was normal she said it was depending on the piece of fish??? The salads and pizza looked much better then our meals turned out to be. I would likely try it again for lunch and order a salad.
Upon entering we were surprised at how rustic the place is. Our party age ranges are from 23-63 and we were all in agreement that the chairs were very uncomfortable and the ambience lackluster. While we were dining the wait staff was sweeping and mopping all around us and it wasn't even that close to closing time. We were informed that they were out of a number of items both on the starter and main course menus. Everything we ordered was completely tasteless and bland. So disappointed! I was so hoping to have found a Parker dining spot that could satisfy the foodies in our family but we'll have to keep looking!
Excellent to see another great dining option in the Parker area, especially one that offers some unique healthy options.
After 3 months they're still just getting off the ground. They were out of the most popular breakfast items at just 10am, including all the soups, all the smoothies, and pancakes. Due to good service and that we really like the concept of fresh, locally sourced food, we will give them another chance. It would be a real shame for mismanagement to be the demise of such a unique, local, fresh concept in a terrific location. Good restaurant managers are not hard to find, hopefully this family-owned business will recognize their own shortcomings and make the right adjustments.
What a great place!
I really like the idea of sustainable, local food. The menu had some interesting combinations. We were a large group, and had the opportunity to try many items on the menu. The meat was clearly very high quality with great flavor. The guacamole was amazing! There were some unique flavors that were either hated or loved. A great place to try new things and support the local economy!
I know people have had bad service and so so food here but I've been here multiple times since they've opened and I find the food exceptional. When they arebusy the service can be a little slow but I haven't found myself wondering if my server went on break. The food has excellent flavor and I really enjoy this restaurant.
Food is very good, innovative. Excellent value although we had no drinks. Waiter took a while to get to us as he was struggling to get an order right from a table of eight next to us. My wife and I wondered who would be the new President of the US after we ate...it took that long. Chairs are uncomfortable as they are straighback wooden seats, so bring a stadium pillow. Despite all this, we would go again to get something else off the menu - it was our meatless Monday meal this time around. Good vegan choices.
Some interesting and varied selections on the menu. Everything we ordered was well prepared and quite tasty. Will return again.
Although a new addition to resturants in the Parker area the Gnarly Root is in much to large a facility. On our visit the place was quieter than expected but mostly due to a lack of patronage.
Definately liked the unique selection of food items on the menu but not sure it will survive in Parker. Hope for the best!
I really want this restaurant to do well as I love and appreciate the concept of good healthy food; however, they have a lot of work to do. I ordered the vegan pizza and it tasted very processed - chemically. The burger I ordered was just ok, but the fries were cold. I do hope they can start to put out better fresher food as they push through their newness.
The roasted beet salad could have had more beets on the plate and more of a roasted flavour- overall good portion salad as a lunch. They did not offer parsnip and carrot chips -:((((
While the food was excellent, our waitress messed up all 5 orders in some way. She was very pleasant but how frustrating!
Very varied menu for everyone: meat, fish, vegan, gluten free. Desserts too. Everything was fresh and delicious. We'll be back soon. Only negative: server could not easily spilt check when paying with credit card. Need to fix that.
Great service and tasty food.
