   Very nice food and staff can't fault it. Only problem was we booked through OpenTable it appears that we weren't booked! But we were accommodated

   On the day that myself and a friend went to The George for lunch it was very busy. We had booked thankfully but rather than be shown to our table the man behind the bar pointed toward the restaurant and said we were in the corner. After sitting for 20minutes I caught the eye of a female serving staff who said she'd be with us in 2 minutes.......15 more minutes later I managed to get the attention of a lovely member of staff. She was less than impressed that we had not be asked if we wanted drinks by the man at the bar, who apparently had also failed to tell us when we arrived, that there was a 45 - 60 minute wait for food. True to her word our food was the next served so we waited for 45 minutes. The food was tasty but definitely not worth the wait. We had booked for 12.30 but were eating closer to 2pm. I expect The George would be ideal on quieter days but it appeared that they struggled to cater for large numbers. Very disappointed.

   The lady that took our order asked us to pass the menus to her, she delivered the food to the same corner of the table which I did not think was good customer service. We were a family catching up over lunch and this made her look lazy as if she wanted us to do her job for her! I was not impressed with that staff member. The bar staff and other waiting staff were lovely! We will be back as it is in a prime location for our families to meet! Such a shame

   Two of the mains were very good, but the pie and mash was dry as if kept too long under heat.

   We had not visited The George for quite a number of years and found it very pleasant with lovely friendly staff which is a big plus. Food was excellent and we would throughly recommend a visit. We will definitely book again.

   Was great service shown to lovely table but asked if we could eat outside as was a very hot evening it wasn't a problem. Food looked lush and tasty, great value for money. Very nice, helpful staff.

   Very helpful and responsive staff, nice pub atmosphere with good food. Although there was a party in the conservatory room, the layout meant that the main pub restaurant did not feel noisy.

   The dining experience was very good. We regularly meet for lunch here. My only adverse comment is about the booking process. Upon our arrival the staff at the George had no record if our booking. Fortunately there were tables available for us, although not the table we would normally have. Thus is not the first time that a booking I have made here using Open Table has not been recorded by the restaurant. There must be some breakdown in the communication between Open Table and the George which Zi suggest you investigate

    Fabulous as always. Took a friend who had never been there before and she loved it. Said she had the best fish and chips she has ever had.
