The Gate at The Murieta Inn & Spa
The Gate beverage program features an extensive wine list, including selections from the nearby Amador and El Dorado wine country, a private bourbon collection and a variety of tap beers from the region’s vibrant craft beer scene. Our cocktails will feature premium spirits enhanced with fruits, flowers and botanicals from Angel Wing Farm.
Great neighborhood place, casual and reasonably priced. Locally grown.
The food was served piping hot and everything came out as ordered. Every steak out of all eight steaks that we ordered were cooked perfectly. The only reason it’s not getting five stars for overall is due to the small undesirable dessert menu.
Management has decided to automatically add an 18% tip and then add a separate line for additional gratuity. Someone casually reading the check may not realize that there is an automatic gratuity. As a restaurant owner, I vehemently object to this procedure. I normally tip 20 to 25%, but when management automatically adds a gratuity without prominently notifying the guest that it has done so, I stick with management's automatice tip. The automatic tip is a disservice to servers.
The Gate was very gracious. As it was our anniversary, we wanted a booth and they were very accommodating. The wait staff came by just enough to keep water glasses full and make sure we didn’t need anything. It was a perfect evening!
Had a wonderful valentines dinner with my wife! The Sevice and the meals were excellent! I would recommend the Gate at the Murieta inn & spa to all family and friends.
This is the second time we've dined there and my wife has ordered the filet cooked medium-well and it shows up rare. I wonder what the chefs are using to base the degree to which the food is cooked.
Excellent. Food and service were great. Atmosphere is always great.
MOST ENJOYABLE. WE ALWAYS LOOK FORWARD TO DINING AT THE GATE
Food was outstanding as was the service. Highly recommend it.
Celebrating the purchase of our new home!!
I ate at the Gate several times over the two days, and I found the food to be marginal. There were almost always too many potatoes, and the food was just not as good as it should be for a nice Inn’s restaurant.
As always food is very good. As always the crew is very disorganized. They don't seem to know who is performing what duties. Left standing at restaurant reception for over 15 min. Left sitting at table for 15-20 min before being offed any water or beverage. We had reservations but were given next available table. This place is trying but will need to improve before we return!!!
Made reservations for quiet table for birthday celebration on Christmas Day! The hostess Jenny was very accommodating to our request. We ended up, by choice, sitting at a bar table. Kim was our server as well as the bartender for the night-she was awesome! We had a limited menu on Christmas but enough variety to satisfy our varied tastes. My BF got a 16oz steak and I got the Salmon. Salad, veggies and desert were included for $39 each, which was very reasonable for us! The food was amazing! The local veggies were beyond amazing! Everything was cooked to our perfection. Sorry, didn’t take good photos to share! This was our first visit, and won’t be our last!
Because it was Christmas, we wanted to have a special meal out. The price fixe menu options were perfect, as was the price.
Wonderful service, friendly and helpful. Christmas dinner was excellent, and a good value.
The 3 stars for value is for our meal, the Gate used to offer a 6 oz filet mignon that was the perfect size and price ($28.00) after an appetizer, salad, and so on the 6 oz was perfect! Now the only filet offered is 8oz. For $34. That said it’s too much for all of us (3 that night) so we no longer order an appetizer and there’s always a piece of steak left. We now sadly, don’t pick the gate as our first choose for our dining. Sad because living here it’s convenient and we love the staff !!
Was a beautiful place. Staff was very welcoming. Would recommend it on a heartbeat.
The one star if for the ambiance and some good food. I would say this place has illusions of grandeur. Expensive prices at a small restaurant that does not offer any bread, soup or salad. Not certain who or where they think they are.
NOW, for the really bad news. Made reservations for Breakfast with the Grinch. I was put on a wait list on Sunday night before the event. On Wednesday, I got a message that simply said, good news, I was not longer on the wait list. On Thursday, I called to confirm and asked what time we should be there. On Sunday, we arrived early; there was a long line so we waited over a half hour. Then I was told they did not have my reservation. The girl (in a polyester plaid shirt and blue jeans; really, you don't dress up to work here? no dress code?!) asked me if I had followed to instructions to call and confirm by Tuesday. WHAT? I realize she was trying to make this my fault.
I asked to speak to the manager, a forty-something-maybe-high-school graduate with no manners. He finally arrived, and she intercepted and discussed my issue with him instead of letting me talk to him. He ignored me and spoke with women who were coming up WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I finally tapped him on the shoulder and said I was before all these people. He merely argued with me about who was first and obviously did not want to acknowledge my issue. NO ONE EVER APOLOGIZED!
Unprofessional and unorganized sums it up. Most of the workers there probably have their jobs through a work program or nepotism. Out in the parking lot, I had conversations with several families who also had made reservations. They said they confirmed online AND on the phone. Mostly I feel sorry for all the children who were let down, but the worst was they way we were all treated. One lady with four children had driven an hour to get there. Bad management.
Thanksgiving with family.
Service was nonexistent, have to ask for water refills constantly. Food was tasteless and cold, waitress non followed requests on orders. We did not finish our dinner, server started removing dishes we have to ask to put plates back on a table... They could not wait when we leave. Check was on a table in 35 min after we started. Thanksgiving dinner with family, $200 bill, 49 min at restaurant what a dissatisfied customer service and food. Place overpriced, bad food and service. Would not recommend this place.
The food was absolutely delicious. Best meal we have had at 'The Gate' so far. Both of us ordered the rib eye and it was cooked to perfection. The hummus w/pesto appetizer was also very good; would highly recommend it. We will be back s00n.
Because of where we live it is so enjoyable to have such a nice restaurant to go to without having to drive so far! The decor of the restaurant and hotel is wonderful and is exactly our taste. Thank you for your top notch staff who had to work the holiday so that we may enjoy an evening out.
Delicious! I had the Rueben and it was very, very good!
All was great except the vegetable that came with my filet. I was told it was broccolini, but there was no resemblance!
We went to The Gate to celebrate our Anniversary. We enjoyed the ambience and exceptional service. The dinner - from appetizers to dessert - was great. We also appreciated the The Farm to Fork feel. We will definitely return.
Angelique is wonderful
My daughter and I went for brunch. First time at the Inn. We sat outside and it was a very pleasant experience and very good service. Food is quite good! We will be back.
I love The Gate. From the servers to the host to the bartender. . .felt like family. Everyone is so accommodating and welcoming. Food was delicious!! Wine selection varied to cover many pallets. We will be back for another birthday celebration this coming Monday, 10/21!!! Thanks for being close enough to Ione to make the trip so worthwhile.
Celebrated a birthday breakfast
Amazing lively fun and elegant atmosphere, food selection and quality and service.
We went to the Gate for our anniversary and it was a nice evening and would recommend to our friends. Our waitress was very friendly and very informative and the food was great. The only negative was the service was a bit slow. It took them a while to bring the bread once they brought our drinks and our waitress never asked us if we would like a second drink. We order dessert and we waited about 15 minutes for it to arrive. Overall it was a good experience but I am hoping they work out the fine details in the future.
Absolutely - wonderful food, service superb, setting even better. Made reservations for 2 - unexpected but welcome guest appeared; moved tables- NO problem. Very accommodating. One person had the Pastrami sandwich with Caesar salad, another Steelhead, and the Pasta by diner #3. All meals were delicious. Thank you. Will definitely be back.
friend loved the portobello sandwich! He said it was wonderful!
Very pleasant evening.
Excellent food. Great service.
Great place! Food is good, service is friendly. My father-in-law is hard of hearing and this place has done a wonderful job with sound absorption in the dining room and he can hear across the table.
Great food and excellent staff.
Delicious food...excellent service. A great place for any occasion.
The food is incredible- service during brunch/lunch was average, but the wait staff are friendly and accomodating. I think there needs to be quality control/training as they could be exceptional! Still, I will continue to visit frequently.
Our experience was amazing! One of our guests had many special needs, the chef himself came out went over the menu and prepared a special meal. Everyone went out of their way to please and accommodate with a very pleasant attitude. Thank you so much for a wonderful dining experience, you all were great!
