Try the Gage Old-fashioned. And the Heirloom tomato burrata salad. And the apple cake with bourbon ice cream. You will not be disappointed!!
Food is excellent, nice indoor and outdoor seating. Good energy. But pricy especially with drinks
food was spectacular. drinks were gorgeous. service (Josh) was phenomenal. cant wait to be back!
The Gage G&T is refreshing - love the Scotch Egg too!
Food and atmosphere were great. Server was not particularly friendly and we felt rushed throughout our time there. It was unfortunate as the rest of the experience would have been excellent but was tainted by the service.
Enjoyable meal- I had the venison burger and my husband had the fish and chips. Both were very good.
We usually don’t get dessert, but we had read about the cobbler for two and it certainly didn’t disappoint!
Service was very good.
Would definitely return!
Just go. Don't waste your time reading reviews unless you feel you need substantive documentation of excellence in all categories polled! This place continues to be my "go-to" to celebrate each an every special occasion with my family and close friends. The GAGE helps Chicago stay near to the top in dining experiences.....but my favorite place for the 10 years I've ventured to other establishments for comparison. Just go. See and taste and drink in the excellence!!!
Fabulous. So glad I made the reservation ahead of time.
Food was amazing! Cobbler for 2? More like 4! Sat outside by choice. Noticed the cacklers at the next table more so than the traffic.
We went there for my sisters birthday dinner
We ordered the halibut, steak and pork chops. While I enjoyed the halibut, my guests mentioned that the steak was burnt when asked for medium and the pork chops were try. We really enjoyed our drinks though!
Great food, service, ambience. A 10 across the board.
We were told the reservations were booked full, we decided to try opentable even though they said we had to book an hour out. Restaurant was half empty upon arrival and leaving. Steak was undercooked and needed to be sent back.
Great restaurant. Good food and good vibe. One of our favorite Chicago restaurants.
We went to the Gage to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. Our waitress was was excellent, as she was very informative about the menu and attentive to our requests. We had the Filet, which was cooked to perfection and came with a little au jaus which really enhanced the flavor. Cocktails were very good as was our bottle of Cabernet from Mendoza. The waitress offered us our choice of two desserts to complete our meal, which were provided at no charge in honor of our anniversary. Great service and food in a cozy atmosphere! We’ll be back!
Good food. Good beverages. Good friends. Good conversation.
Great service; loud crowd; lots of space inside; not cheap but worth it.
Wonderful, as always. Despite being on high-traffic Michigan Ave, right across from Millennium Park, service, food and ambience are consistently terrific. A go-to for me with out-of-town guests.
I've been an OpenTable member for 10 years. I've never written a negative review. This is the 3rd (and now final) time I've eaten at The Gage. My previous two experiences were excellent. My family and I brought a guest from out of town. One of the food servers (not our waiter) was picking up food from our table and dropped dishes on our table, knocking over our guest's drink. There was no apology from the server, who cleaned up the table and went away. I had to wash my eyeglasses, which were sprayed.
My wife then noted a large hair in her dish. She complained about this to the waiter. Our guest also complained to the waiter that his drink had been knocked over, and the waiter expressed skepticism that his happened. Clearly, there had been no communication between the server and the waiter. To add insult to injury, when I received the check, we had been charged for an extra drink. I pointed this out to the waiter who ultimately removed this from our check, but made no attempt to speak to the server about what had transpired.
A manager was sent over as well, who again, made no attempt to speak to the servers about what had happened.
Terrible service all around. A shame as the food was good. Please avoid. There are better places in the Mag Mile that deserve your time and money.
Great service and nice atmosphere. Scotch egg and crab cake were delicious. But the pork belly on the eggs Benedict was not at all smoked as described, somewhat tasteless, and cut too thick.
If you are visiting Chicago and staying near Millennium Park, this is a great spot for dinner or just a drink. The menu is well done with a variety of options. Drinks and wine list is well thought out.
Our only negative was that we felt a little rushed. There were items that were not on the menu that we could of ordered, but our waiter never told us about them. As soon as we finished our cheese board the wait staff immediately removed everything and that was the same for our entrees. They were efficient, but it was a too quick. It felt like they were more concerned to turn the table than to allow us to manage our time.
It was my birthday dinner and I could not have asked for a better time! We will be back.
The swordfish was absolutely delightful.
The salmon which was the special was average. It was rather rare and not flaky.
Lovely lunch outdoor, food was delicious and the service was good. I only wish American waiters understood that you do not take away one of the guest empty plate when the other guest is still eating his🙄
Great food and atmosphere.
Great place for lunch and dinner! Highly recommended!
We had a lovely meal with excellent service. Fried pickles were the starter we chose, accompanied by a glass of bubbly. Simple as it was, my burger was delicious. Our waiter did an outstanding job of checking in, changing our place settings between courses and keeping things moving. We most definitely will return!
We had a great experience at The Gage and would highly recommend this restaurant. Everything - from the greeting by the host team to the service by the wait staff to the outstanding quality of our meal to the ambience of the restaurant -- was excellent and executed seamlessly. There are certain times when everything goes perfectly and the quality is simply evident across the board, and this was one of them. The Gage has been in existence since 2007 and it is easy to see why -- they have been consistently doing things well for a long period of time, which is quite an achievement. Kudos to the entire team at The Gage - we will be back soon!
There was construction on the patio at acanto which made it difficult to talk. There was also about 4-5 honey bees around our table we had to swat away. Luckily no one was stung.
Great food, attentive service and fun atmosphere. I definitely recommend it.
pre-20th Anniversary September Memorial
The food was amazing. I appreciate that it was family-friendly.
The service was a fail. The waitress doesn’t explain us the menu neither ask us the others things that the restaurant has.
They were sold out of both fish dishes and two salads which was very disappointing. We were looking forward to enjoying some of those meals we saw on the menu. The service was slow and seemed very hectic. Overall, not the best experience for the price you pay.
Loved everythihng but the crab cake. It was good, just not the level I expected based on the rest of the meal.
Fish and Chips - there is a reason they are known for these.
Burrata and Heirloom Tomatoes - amazing
Peach cobbler with a corn vanilla ice cream - I hated leaving any behind.
Crab Cake - good but not the best I've ever had.
Overall a great meal on a beautiful day in Chicago.
The service and the food was excellent. Our server delivered a good experience for my mom's birthday!
Perfect for brunch! Make sure to get the zucchini bread for the table to share.
Absolutely wonderful. Food was amazing and the service was outstanding.
Some dishes were great but others didn’t really impress -like the beet salad (needed goat cheese instead of blue cheese and some greens) and the fish special of the night (tasted kind of bland that night) . Our waiter was very nice but service took long- though they may have been short handed
