Excellent meal, super service and ambiance was delightful
The service there is very good!
Love the food and atmosphere! Great location!
We have been here several times and loved it! The server, on this particular occasion, could not have been less interested in us and it was quite disappointing.
Good service from Elizabeth! Delicious food. Good cocktail.
The Gage is one of my faves and for good reason. Not only is the food impeccable, so is the service.
Food is always very good, our waitstaff was wonderful and helpful
The service was perfect and the food was delicious and the presentation was exceptional.
SUPERB!!!!! The staff is very attentive and accommodating, the food was superb! We will most definitely return
It was a great experience. Was met by a friendly greeter and immediately seated. Server introduced himself and was very friendly. His overall service was great. The food here is always inventive and so fresh. I had lobster roll and it was delicious as was the accompanying salad. Can’t wait to return.
Stopped in at the Gage for lunch on a Saturday following a visit to the Art Institute and grabbed two seats at the bar. Turns out they serve brunch on weekends til 4P and the menu was really limited - a few breakfast options, a burger, chicken sandwich type stuff. Bartender doubled as a server - never cracked a smile or offered up any conversation. Cocktails were good, not great. Food was good, not great. Service was efficient, but clearly just going through the motions. Not terribly expensive or it would have been really disappointing.
Family lunch after the museum.
Always a great experience. Was there was NYE. The live music was so enjoyable. Excellent! Cheers.
I just cant describe how nice this place is and how my significant other liked it, thanks so so so so much . Definitley coming back there
New Year’s Eve 2019
Great atmosphere with a live jazz combo playing.
Outstanding service from the helpful and attentive staff and excellent food as always at The Gage.
They even added an additional menu just for the evening.
The perfect setting for a wonderful night out.

I went on New Year’s Eve. Our table was ready right when we got there. The service was great. The scallop dish was to die for! The filet was cooked perfectly medium rare. The prices were low for the amount and quality of food! Highly recommend.
The only complaint that we have is that there does not seem like there is a way to stop the polar vortex invading the restaurant when patrons arrive.
Someone I know asked where we ate New Year's Eve and I answered The Gage. She said they would have eaten there too; but they could not handle the rush of very cold air every time the front door opened. And here I thought I was the only patron who thought this way.
I had a great time. They held my table even though I was late. The server was attentive and provided recommendations. The food was the perfect temperature and was very appetizing.
Had a great New Year’s Eve meal with family. We started with the fried pickles and a selection of cheeses and enjoyed the Scallops, Boar, and Chicken for our meals. The Gage never disappoints!
We had a memorable experience thanks to the truly exceptional service. Cashew curry was delicious!
Kind of disappointing. So dark. The service was really subpar. The waiter was crabby. No mention of our special celebration that we requested. Why ask if you don’t plan to do anything about it? Nothing was particularly delicious. I found a giant chicken bone in our poutine and all the fries were soggy. The scotch eggs were dry. My burger was nice though. We have been here before and it was better years ago.
The menu was unique and the food was good, but the drinks were incredibly watered down.
The scallops were amazing!
Service was OK- everything else was awful!
Ambiance/Noise- if you like airports or train stations, this is your place. Numerous children running amok and one person who though it was appropriate to walk up and down between tables coddling an infant. Seriously, this is supposed to be a nice restaurant.... not an airplane. To add to it, there were way too many tables - im a thin guy and could barely get to my seat. Felt like eating at a communal table.
Food- “ok” but both my wife and I had serious stomach issues layer that afternoon. Not sure if it was a bad batch of venison or what, but it wasnt pretty.
Overall, a waste of time/money. I would sooner go to bubba gump shrimp. Same experience, less money. I dont usually take the time to write reviews but this was a monumental disappointment.
I have eaten here before. I have to say this time was extremely underwhelming. Which was disappointing since I brought my family.
Great food and great service. Love the restaurant’s style and decor. Loud, but not obnoxiously loud. Great spot.
Out to see the Warhol exhibit and always love the Gage. The food is excellent and the portions just right. Price is a little high.
Our server clearly was annoyed to be working with our group of 4. We had questions about the menu and had never been here before....between the noise level and his clipped tone, and downright rude sentences, such as “well, as I told you before....” or “you’re misunderstanding.” We’ve been fine dining in this city for over a decade and know bad service when we encounter it. We will not return nor recommend the Gage to other people.
Ok food. A little pricey.
Great food and drink options. Tables are pretty close together so not ideal for a romantic date night but it’s great for a quick bite (kitchen was super fast!). Would definitely go back.
Phenomenal food. Wine list was excellent! Must experience!
The evening crowd is a little bit more of a bar scene. The food NEVER fails to be a winner with anyone I take to eat there. The music is too loud and it causes voices to rise and then takes away from social table conversation! However- I just have to say, I’ll still be back.
We were in the city to see a show and had a wonderful family dinner at the Gage! My aunt has Parkinson’s and they went out of their way to make sure she had appropriate seating and location.
It is very hard for me to offer this bad review. I have dined at The Gage many times over the years and it has been a holiday time favorite. Something was definitely off on the night we dined. The food wasn’t as tasty as in the past. Service was also poor as there was confusion as to who was covering our table. I hope all improves in the future.
Nobody does it better.
