Wonderful atmosphere and a delicious brunch! The service was excellent!
The staff was very warm and welcoming when we arrived. It was fine dining as our waitress allowed us as much time as we needed with each course. The food was amazing, highly recommend for a fun get together, romantic dinner of special celebration.
The food was delicious. We all got something different and everyone said their meal was great. So reasonably priced for the amount of food, too.
My family & I had a wonderful meal. We were not rushed through any part of our evening. Food was tastefully prepared & served by the attentive waiter. Background piano music was not overbearing,it was a added feature. We will be returning.
Family gathering - we had a great lunch and the atmosphere was beautiful. We would love to come back and enjoy the outdoor seating
Nice Mother’s Day.
The ambiance was great but the food was disappointing.
The food was good. We had their brunch buffet. I requested to sit outside. There was plenty of room inside and out. But they still sat us inside. The service was fine. A bit pricey. I would give it another try.
Beautiful Mother’s Day brunch! My mom loved it. The decor was amazing, so many pretty flowers. Food was delicious. Waiter was kind and helpful.
Really enjoyed the food. Great mother's day. Only issue was wait staff was to congested around service bar. Difficult to get past them
Always great food...great value with a great setting. Also their service is 5 stars.
Great mother's day buffet and good food. Service was good. Nothing over the top. Had to ask them to clear plates but other than that was fine. My son sent a bottle of champagne that was prepaid. I thought it would come with a card or some sort of gesture...my husband had to ask the waiter for the bottle and made him go check for it. Not sure if it would have gotten to us had he not asked.
Mother’s Day brunch
The experience was wonderful celebrated with a Mother's Day brunch that was exceptionally good. The Buffet was one of the better ones that I have been to and the food selection was great. The restaurant had the perfect ambience for the day.
My wife and I celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary. Very polite staff. Our meal was delivered quickly and was absolutely delicious.
The Gables is in a pretty old house with nice decor. Despite the fact that there were open tables we waited more than an hour for our food. The food was ok but certainly not worth the wait.
Service was great. Atmosphere and cocktails were great. Menu looked great but food quality was not good. Grilled Cesar salad tasted like gas. 6 ppl dining and only one person liked the taste of their food. That fortunately was the quest of honor. The chicken salad is what she had.
The food was creative and well prepared. I had the crab cake which was served with a delicious sauce and topped with crispy roasted veggies. My husband had a modern take on red snapper Vera Cruz he thought was very well done. The suggest wine pairings were spot on and the homemade desserts were a great end to the meal. The uncomfortable chairs prevent me from giving the ambiance five stars. Lastly, our waiter, Phillip, was a pleasure!
Menu was fine representation of local farm products. Very interesting and tasty. Service from Mindy was outstanding. Highly recommend.
Went for brunch and it was lovely. My only suggestion is the made-to-order omelet station needs to be improved as it was just one burner so the process is slow when it's busy. Other than that, the food and service was great.
It’s early May about 75 degrees out and the restaurant felt 90 degrees. It was Friday night at 7pm and the restaurant was vacant which was disconcerting. My wife, who enjoys being hot, was uncomfortable. Our server was polite and helpful but also very awkward and uncomfortable. We ordered appetizers, soups, and entrees. The first two courses were good and came out in a good, leisurely meal cadence. Then it was about a 50 minute wait from soup course to entree. Most frustrating part about this was watching the kitchen staff hangout in the bar while we waited for nearly an hour. We both ordered the short rib entree which was a featured item and were told they were short a portion, which made limited sense when they brought out a meal for each of us. Either they took a portion and split it in half or they tried to braise short rib in an hour. The entree was floating in grease and all parts from the Brussels sprouts and polenta tasted the same and was very greasy. After waiting an hour for entrees both my wife and myself no longer had much of an appetite and with the food being very subpar that didn’t help. However the server was very apologetic for the wait, we are not a couple that likes to complain at the restaurant for fear of more awkwardness, and with that being said the fact that he brought us complementary glasses of wine for the wait was very nice of him. But will all that being said I don’t see us returning to the Gables anytime soon.
Service and food were very good. However, the noise was unbearable. Nothing is in the dining room to reduce the noise.
Great experience -- again. Bartender was excellent and made great cocktails. Service was timely. Food was very good.
Visit off and on for 10 years. Even on a raining evening made to fill comfortable eating in the bar area instead of the dining room. The chef always comes up with something different, tonight it was short ribs over polenta. But, the treat of the gloomy rainy Tuesday night was the bourbon pecan pie. Never had pecan pie this good, in my over 50 years eating out or at someone’s home.
The mushroom soups are sublime. However, the wraps and sandwiches were dry, plates were smudged with lots of finger prints and the servers were more interested in talking with the bartender than checking on refills or food.
The Gables is a good place for a date night or special occasion. Nice décor, separate bar area, outside dinning when the weather permits and a good wait staff. A menu that features the area's homegrown mushrooms. Portions are generous. Save room and don't skip dessert. I would highly recommend the bourbon pecan pie.
First time at Gables but won't be my last! Had a lovely, relax and delicious Sunday brunch there with a few friends. Our server, Gretchen, was attentive and helpful notwithstanding that we ordered the breakfast buffet. Was very knowledgeable about gluten free choices on the buffet.
All the staff was helpful and friendly. Highly recommend giving it a try.
Great food and service!! Always a favorite for us. Thanks
We have dined at the Gables many times in the past and were often pleased. Our visit on Friday the 13th was not such a visit.
Gables salads were predictably good, while served at a very slow pace not anticipated based on the 3/4 empty dining room. Entrees were served later, much later. When they arrived the red snapper was tough and dry, buried under a pile of acidic sautéed peppers and onions astride equally dry and flavorless rice. The shrimp and grits featured perfectly cooked shrimp in a soup of chopped vegetables slightly thickened with corn meal. This was not the excellent disc of the same name previously enjoyed at the Gables. Slow service continued and when cleared, the nearly untouched fish filet elicited no comment or question.
We will return, but not too soon.
We had Sunday brunch and brought our daughter and son in law & Baby. Service was excellent. A bit noisy but that was due to a large birthday party which was nice to know they could accommodate. Food was good but only 1 meat at the omelette station and no mushrooms
unfortunately there was a wedding in the upstairs room and that took priority on getting the dinners out to us downstairs.
because of the noise level from upstairs the people downstairs had to almost yell at each other in order to have a conversation.
would it not be a good idea for those making a reservation for a dinner with friends be told
there is a wedding and give them the chance to reserve dinner for another time?
we were disappointed for sure and will hesitate going back!!
I was disappointed in our visit. The food was ok. Shrimp ceviche was rubbery and the fruit was hard. My shrimp and grits was decent, but the peppers were overpowering and detracted from the overall flavor. I thought the meal was overpriced for the quality of the food. Our server was repetitively condescending and for all these reasons, I wouldn't go back. There are many other restaurants with better food at a lower price and with nicer servers.
Food was very good, although a bit pricey. Loved the setting and our server was great. We were there for several hours and never felt rushed. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Gables is always great in every aspect. A favorite place of mine in highly recommended. The food in the service are second to none
I have always wanted to try this place and it did not disappoint! The food was delicious and enjoyed by all including my 8 year old.
We will definitely be back.
We went for the Easter brunch. Food was good. We are upstairs I wish we had a downstairs reservation it seems they dining room downstairs was a bit more quant. The service was horrible from the time we walked in to the brunch service. Coming in the host was sitting on a stool the entire time directing people from a seat (not picking sure but as a host he didn’t make our party feel welcome to the establishment) the servers at the buffet stations were the highlight of the service and were very friendly. Our waiter was lazy we had to ask for water and coffee refills and to have plates removed from the table. Overall food was good facilities were nice and service was awful. Would most likely not come back.
It was a good enough experience for Easter Brunch, but we have had better.
Good food and Friday night live piano music! Outdoor seating is a great setting for a date or anniversary.
A lovely restaurant and staff. Our food and service were excellent.
We were grateful for the chef and our server’s attentiveness to our food allergies. We enjoyed a delicious meal and were grateful the chef gave us a strawberry to celebrate my Mom’s birthday as the cake and ice cream were not a fit for her allergies.
Little trouble finding the place - the link on Open Table took me to someone’s driveway...might want to fix that, guys.
My daughter and I sat in the very comfortable and charming bar area. Drinks were great, food was great, price was reasonable. It was delightful.
