No record of the booking when arriving at the venue, no inclination to assist with finding a table and general customer service from Manager appalling when raising issue.

Food was good. Classic pub grub. Sausage and mash was on the money. Enjoyed it. For the area, very good value.

No QR code option for ordering, so the bar was very busy. This meant it took an exceptionally long time to order any food or drinks. When we arrived nobody seemed to know that we had booked a table so we got given one that still had drinks glasses on it from the previous people. It was not cleared up, we had to move everything. Food was average.

I ordered sausage and mash. The food was hot, sausages delicious, mash smooth and creamy AND there were actually vegetables! These days, the veg are an afterthought - usually one slice of carrot and two mange tout both raw. At The Gable, there was a modest but sensible portion of carrots and cabbage all served with lots of gravy. Absolutely delicious. Thank you.

Having ordered our food we waited over an hour only to find out the waitress had not submitted the order to the kitchen. Apologies were given and when the order finally arrived one of the dishes had been incorrectly put away with into their order system. We waited for one of the orders over 1 1/2 hours. This was a one off experience as have visiting this venue regularly for many years but having not used it for a while and was very disappointed.

No high chair even though I’d written to ask for one when I booked. Also staff next to drinks machine where our table was, were extremely silly, noisy and unprofessional. It was a group of female waitresses who had a friend visiting. All behaved in a raucous manner as though it was their kitchen rather than a restaurant

I was quite looking forward to trying out a new place. but it was a little disappointing. Very average food, service a bit below average and not good value. It is a nice room, and a good location. Won't go again. Pity really.

Nice place in the city to catch up with friends/colleagues, maybe can push for a business lunch as well. Only one thing to highlight, it was hard to get the attention of the staff there, once they served the food, they seem to disappear i.e. focus on new customers.

Visited The Gable for a work lunch. Was given excellent service by staff, given drinks within 5 minutes of arriving and our food was brought out in good time meaning we were in no rush when eating.

This place has become my new favourite. Friendly and efficient staff. Great service. I can highly recommend the potato rosti and pulled smoked ham on a bed of rocket topped with two poached eggs - absolutely delicious! Great and speedy service makes for a perfect business lunch venue.
