An "only in Key West" restaurant, The Flaming Buoy Filet Co. is one part retro supper club, one part sassy corner bistro, and one part highly personal whim. Fred Isch, grew up in every geographic segment of the country with a mother who loved cooking and collecting recipes. His husband, Scot Forste, grew up on the farm where his mother, bored of city life, spontaneously relocated to get back to the land, breed horses, and grow fresh, healthy food. Every recipe on the Flaming Buoy menu is an interpretation of something Fred or Scot ate at their respective family tables. Local additions, like seafood, tropical fruits, and Cuban flavors reinterpret the nostalgia, and the result grabbed the attention of the New York Times in 2011.

We loved The Flaming Buoy! I had the yellow fish with banana salsa & my husband had the ribs. Both were delicious. Such a unique menu; I wanted to try everything. Perfect place to stop before seeing a movie at The Tropic. Brian was our server and he was friendly and knowledgeable. We’ll be back to try everything! Thank you!

Amazing food! Fun atmosphere, but still at an elevated level. Surf and turf was some of the best I’ve had! We had our 7 year old daughter with us and although there is no kids menu, they were super accommodating to make some regular menu items kid friendly which ended up being the fried chicken (from chicken and waffles) and mac and cheese (without lobster) and my daughter said the Mac and cheese was the “best in her life” lol. We will definitely be going back to try the lobster mac and cheese adult version 😊. The fried chicken was also amazing and I may have snuck more than a few bites. Not a bad bite a food the whole time. We are in town for a week and will definitely be making a second trip to Flaming Buoy while we are here.

The bacon wrapped scallops were so delicious that I ordered a second serving! Our waiter, Dean, was attentive, pleasant, and made great recommendations. Thanks, Dean!

Amazing. Never heard of this restaurant before as many times as we have been on island, but was a great experience. The owners are very meticulous and it shows. Trust the good reviews. Will be back!

The biggest problem here is deciding what to order! The spicy green beans? The onion rings? All of the salads are fresh and beautifully dressed. Both fish entrees are lovely. Bacon wrapped scallops are cooked to perfection. Try the trios. A sampling makes it easier! There’s a great, well selected wine list, and good choices for beer drinkers. The owners and staff are so friendly and fun. And the noise level is low. You can actually have a conversation at dinner! And don’t miss happy hour prices. Nothing beats sliders or coneys with a beer!!!
