The Fitzroy is a great place for an intimate dinner with great cocktails. The noise level is quite intense for more than a 3-4 party conversation. I will be back!

Very pretty restaurant. Staff was friendly and service was very good. Disappointed with scallops entree. They tasted "funny " Did not finish them. Fried Green Tomatoes were excellent. Drink/beer selection was unusual and very good. Not sure if I would go back.

It was our first time at The Fitzroy, and we will be back. The food was delicious and our server Regan was wonderful, provided great suggestions and service. It is a bit dark in the back of the dining room.

Excellent overall experience. True scratch kitchen. Very accommodating to allergies. Chef and server were able to make almost any choice gluten free. Gluten free fried catfish was especially scrumptious! We'll return, and would highly recommend.

FAQs

Warm, moody, and cozy, think an upscale gastropub with English-pub touches and a lively rooftop. Guests often praise the inviting decor and romantic rooftop, though noise can be high on busy weekend nights. Service is frequently described as friendly and energetic, with standout servers who enhance the experience.

Casual dress, the owner lists the dress code as casual. Guests typically dress smart-casual for date nights and special occasions, but comfortable attire is perfectly acceptable.

Midweek evenings (Mon–Thu) are often the best choice for a quieter, more relaxed dinner. If you want the rooftop energy and full cocktail program, Friday or Saturday night is ideal, just expect a busier, louder scene.

Yes, The Fitzroy is a popular spot for date night thanks to its cozy, moody dining room and a lovely rooftop patio. Guests frequently recommend rooftop seating for a romantic vibe, creative cocktails, and well-executed dishes like the pork chop, fish, and desserts. Expect casual dress and a lively atmosphere on weekend nights; an early reservation or rooftop request helps secure a quieter, more intimate table.

Yes, the team encourages notes on reservations (for rooftop seating requests) and guests frequently report staff accommodating birthdays and special occasions. The owner asks for a credit card to secure bookings and notes a 48-hour cancelation policy, so mention any special seating, accessibility, or celebration needs when you reserve.

Yes, families dine here and guests often bring teens or celebrate birthdays with children. The menu leans toward seasonal American plates rather than a traditional kids’ menu, so consider sharing appetizers or ordering simpler mains like the burger. For younger children, an early seating or a quieter table helps; call ahead to discuss accommodations.

For a quieter experience, aim for early weekday dinners (Mon–Thu) or an early seating on a weekend. If you want the lively rooftop and full cocktail program, Friday and Saturday nights are great. Many guests recommend requesting rooftop seating and booking ahead for holiday or weekend evenings.

Busiest: Friday and Saturday evenings and holidays (many guests note lively crowds and rooftop traffic). Quietest: early weeknights (Mon–Thu) and earlier dinner seatings. If you prefer a calm meal, an early weekday reservation or an early weekend seating is best.

There’s no public information about a formal waitlist, but walk-ins are welcome and guests report waits during peak times, especially weekend evenings and holidays. Reservations are recommended for prime times; if you arrive without one, the host may manage a wait depending on capacity.

Yes, guests report dining at The Fitzroy on holidays (several mentions of Thanksgiving and other holiday evenings). Holiday hours may vary, so call ahead or check reservations for holiday-specific service and menus.

Portions are generally generous, many guests comment that appetizers and mains are ample and shareable. Parties often order several small plates or apps to make a full meal, and entrees like pork chop, osso bucco, and steak are described as substantial. If you’re sharing, the menu supports family-style plates and starters that work well as a meal.

Yes, many guests report the staff were accommodating to families and mobility needs, and the team has helped seat parties with wheelchairs. Families and birthday groups dine here comfortably, and the rooftop can host family gatherings when weather permits. If accessibility needs are essential, call ahead so the host can reserve the most convenient table.
