The Fish Market Ratings and Reviews
Thank you for a great meal. The food was superb. Overall, our group had a very nice experience. It was a delayed holiday / thank you celebration for work staff. The only rating that was not 5 star was service, our wait staff was hurried and did not seem to have time for our table. Thank you again, looking forward to returning.
Really nice food and spectacular, the view is also spectacular, prices are good for the kind of food they have, been there like three times and this last one service was a little bit slow, probably because it was crowded and it was first day of the year, but definitely is a must if you go to San Diego downtown for diner
We have been going to the Fish Market for years and always enjoy the dinner, service and atmosphere. However, this time we were very disappointed. I realize it was New Year's Eve, but I don't think that was an excuse for the poor quality food and service. I usually order the halibut, which is usually a nice thick steak size cut and I have to share as it's too much just for me. However, this time is was so flat and tiny that I ate the whole thing and was still hungry after dinner, and on top of that the vegetables were cold. Our waiter paid little attention to us and we noticed several tables being served before us. The only good thing about the dinner was our table location - at least we had a water view. It will be a long while before we go back!
Special occasion celebrating a birthday. Reservation was great. Asked for a view table but inside and that is exactly what we received. Excellent table with a super view. Food was good but the portion size seemed smaller than our last visit a couple of months ago. Service started strong but then faded. As this was a very special birthday celebration and I was VERY disappointed that there was no mention of our birthday celebration. Food delivery was slow and we had to ask for a drink refill. So for the price paid for everything the best part was the view.
Amazing views of the bay. The food was great. Highly recommend the fish and chips that were just lightly breaded with Pando and was just delicious. Took our family from out of town to see the Midway and then a short walk to the Fish Market. Definitely make reservations.
This was the worst experience I ever had at this restaurant. I have visited the Fish Market restaurant several time and this time it was aweful. The food was way over priced for what we received and it was cold once it finally arrived at the table the wait staff was no where to be found in order to submit a complaint. This was not a good experience and I most likely won’t be returning there in the future. Their are several other better dining options in the San Diego area with views that are the same or better.
I have been to the Fish Market many times and have always loved the food and usually the service and experience; so I took my parents from out of of town for Christmas eve early dinner/late lunch and we were seated at reservation time but waiter was terrible, had to ask and reask for basic things, food took forever to get and then we had to send it back because it was cold. The sun was shining in our eyes and no one seemed to be able to help with the shades. I was very disappointed in the whole experience.
Nothing about it was good, except for the fries. They didn't have my reservation even though I booked it on Open Table. (obviously, I had a reservation or I wouldn't be given this opportunity to leave a review) The restaurant was cold, the fish smell was a bit overwhelming, the black cod was hardly edible, and the service was very lack luster. The quality and feel was like an over worked restaurant from a lot of tourists. It has been years since I had dined here, and the quality definitely seemed to lower than I remembered.
We had a fun, delightful waiter but the food did not meet our expectations (for all four of us). My fish (Opah) was overcooked and dry and the vegetables were not hot. At best the food was mediocre. However the bread was wonderful. The restaurant is in a wonderful location but I'll leave it to the tourists. There are better seafood restaurants in town.
Was very pleased and excited to have such a good dinner at a reasonable price. Had wonderful fish dinner and everyone was happy with their dinner. Service very good....refreshing when you have a good waitress who appears to enjoy her job. Definitely will recommend and return on our next visit to San Diego.
Love the easy online way of making reservations. Food and service was excellent, as always. We were celebrating a birthday and the serving of cake for our birthday guy was appreciated to end our dinner in a fitting way to celebrate. We enjoyed the inside window table seating with the beautiful view. Only problem was trying to find parking without paying valet. We often enjoy meeting with a group of our family at your restaurant on some special occasions, but more often than not the parking is a real problem and with several cars the valet can become pricey.
I loved the fresh local swordfish and my wife thought the salmon was excellent. Crabcakes were terrific. service was excellent. We were there early because we missed lunch and had a very nice seat by the window. Reservations are recommended. They were already backed up with a 20+ minute wait at 4:30 on a Saturday afternoon.
