The food was excellent. The flavors involved in each dish were very well thought out. I had the elk which was a pleasure. There were several different flavor combinations that could be made with the items on the plate and all of them were delicious. We also had the berry cobbler for dessert. Again, the flavors and ingredients were well balanced and each bite was delicious.

A Thursday evening for the senses: Flavors (mulled wine, mushroom, sage) ... music (tenor voice, guitar) ... setting (fireplace, glass art) combined for a gratifying escape from the stresses of daily life.

The food was amazing. All local sourced ingredients. The scallops and waygu Bavette were delicious. We even had a chance to speak with Richard the owner who gave us the history of the house and a tour. Highly recommend you check it out. We can’t wait to go back especially during warmer weather to check out their outdoor setup.

The Fern and Fable is one of the best restaurants in the Malvern area. The cuisine is creative and delicious, well-prepared and generous servings. The service was quite good, attentive and friendly. The restaurant is on the campus of People's Light Theater and the staff were very good at completing their service in time for the curtain.

Our Saturday night dinner was a culinary delight! We had the Elk Tenderloin, the Scallops and the Wagyu Bavette. Every one of them was delicious, and masterfully presented! The desserts were to die for too! It's a lovely atmosphere with gracious wait staff. I highly recommend it for a special night out!

We had a fantastic experience! The food was amazing, but so was the wait staff and ambience. We had a private tour from the curator who showed us all the new integrated glass and lantern art from Hank Adams, and we heard about the upcoming theater shows. My kids enjoyed the best house made chocolate milk they've ever had, and I highly recommend the Autumn Greens salad with grilled apricot! We sat by the fireplace, there were fresh flower centerpieces at each table. We will be back!

The Fern & FableResponded 6 days agoIt was such a pleasure having you and your family enjoy your dining experience with us. I am so happy that your children enjoyed the chocolate milk. It is a house favorite. Our chefs and team strive to make your whole experience a great memory. I enjoyed touring you as well. We have so much history, art and stories to share with everyone. Hope to see you again soon.

Gorgeous location with a really pleasant and attentive staff. We were able to be seated right in front of the live performer, which was nice—not too loud, like a private concert. Food came out quickly and accurately (the plentiful vegetarian options were appreciated) and cocktails were crafted with care. We really enjoyed our night. Thanks especially to Juliana, our server, who was just a delight!

A group of six had dinner before attending a play. I had the elk and my partner had the short ribs and both were delicious. Other members of our party had sandwiches and salads and also said their food was good. We were seated in the back room which ended up being a private room which was great. Service was a little sporadic and slow toward the end. I think they might be slightly understaffed. The manager stopped by to check on us which was a nice touch. Overall it was a pleasant meal, slightly on the expensive side.

The Fern & FableResponded 6 days agoThank you for enjoying your dinner with us before the show. We do get a bit hectic with everyone wanting to pay at the same time once in awhile, but we always get you to the show on time. Come and enjoy us just for dinner some night without the show.

Dinner was out of this world from start to finish. My son and I split the pig and fig rustic grill top flatbread - amazing combination of salty (aged prosciutto) and sweet (white fig marmalade). Then, we split the seasonal burrata. I assured him that once he tasted the burrata - he would never eat mozzarella again - after this salad - he totally agreed, delicious. Now, onto the entrees - I have never had chicken prepared or that tasted like the organic chicken roulade - what a marriage of flavors - (took leftovers home and enjoyed them all over again later in the week). My go to when dining out is always seafood. Glad I took a chance. It was sooo worth it. My son devoured the wagyu bavette - raved about how the beef was prepared – (melted in his mouth) - and I thought he was going to stick his head in the bowl and slurp up the butternut squash puree - yummy. Desserts - cast iron winterberry cobbler - show stopper - perfect for sharing - however, my son simply could not resist the flourless chocolate tarte - neither of us could move after this feast - but it was completely / totally worth it. A special shout out to our server - (unfortunately, cannot remember his name) - who went above and beyond with recommendations that were spot on with every morsel enjoyed. And hats off to the chef who did not disappoint in any way shape or form. Will definitely be coming back to this establishment again in the near future.

I took a friend to The Fern & Fable for her birthday. The ambiance, service, and food were excellent. The restaurant has beautiful artwork and lighting, and several different rooms in which you can dine. Richard greeted us as we arrived, checked on us during our meal, and explained that the artwork and lighting designs were made by a local artist. Julianna provided wonderful service. The food is truly fabulous. We shared the "pig and fig" flatbreak (so savory), and thoroughly enjoyed the elk tenderloin and scallops and gnocchi selections (not a morsel remained after we finished). The wine choices, cocktails, and desserts were also delicious. I cannot say enough positive things about this gem. Don't miss a chance to dine here!

Mixed drinks were well done with us having the Apple Butter Old Fashion and the Hot toodie. Overall very interesting old farm house with great service and attention the entire visit. The food was incredible. Loved that most things are all locally sourced and seasonal. The room we dined in was lovely. Small & inviting with a fireplace. The whole experience was delightful.

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Fern and Fable! The atmosphere is lovely and relaxed and the food was fantastic. We particularly liked the sunchoke soup, the duck, and the Brussels sprouts. I hadn't diner at People's Light since the restaurant changed from The Farmhouse to Fern and Fable. While we always enjoyed it in the past, this new iteration has a much better menu and better food than the previous restaurant. If you haven't been in awhile, definitely go back!

The location and building are absolutely stunning! The outside area is to die for. Unfortunately the food when we went was not good at all. The server was nice but not very knowledgeable about the food or drinks. The menu items look very good on paper but I was very disappointed. There was only 2 other tables we saw in the restaurant the entire time we were there. I’m confused by the rave reviews on here, we definitely did not have that experience. That being said this place needs to be saved it’s beautiful. If I heard of a change in chef again I would definitely try again, but until then it’s just a pretty place.

Service was excellent but alas, I ordered the wrong thing! If you’re even a little bit hungry do not get the elk! 4 minuscule pieces, the 2 half onions made up the bulk of my dinner plate. My guest did enjoy the chicken, however, and the flourless chocolate cake. But…Not sure if I’ll give F&F another try….

The food was excellent particularly the turkey probably the best I’ve ever had. The only thing that we weren’t real happy with was at one point the food got cold, because the sterno’s went out. Also, the sweet potatoes we didn’t care for with the pomegranate glaze, it tasted almost like a tomato sauce. We like traditional brown sugar, butter, maple syrup, what not. And the brussels sprouts were very good but too much balsamic vinegar. The traditional stuffing was delicious but again too much Sage. It was still very very good and everything else was fantastic. We had a lovely Thanksgiving dinner. Thank you.

Primarily we were concerned over the service. Our server barely spoke to us. This was a buffet and we had to ask that our plates be removed when we returned with another entree. Other servers waiting on people were much more effervescent and spoke to them. We felt ignored. Finally at the end of the meal very quietly asked us how everything was. A bit late, no? Fortunately, it was OK. We would have liked to have been seated on the first floor near some windows and outside lighting but were seated one level up. The stairway was only several steps so not difficult to climb. It was only two of us, so I suppose that was an optimum place for them to seat us. Everyone had their last name and the number of people the table was reserved for on a 3x5 card on their table. We had a hard time identifying some buffet items. My wife and I don’t have any food allergies, nevertheless, I suggested to the man at the carving station at the end of the buffet line it would have been helpful to have a 3x5 card or similar beneath each food item available. He said it would have been a lot of extra work to put those cards there. I was a bit surprised at that response. Wouldn’t that have been, or could not that have been a manager’s task? Having the list of entrees, salads, etc., on an 8.5 X 11 piece of paper at the start and end of the line was not sufficient. Usually, at most buffets, each food item is identified. Sometimes with ingredients listed to inform people what it contains should they have any food allergies or sensitivities. Or maybe they should just stay home next time and cook themselves. I came from a restaurant family and certainly know good service and high standards. I just did not sense that here. We won’t come back to the restaurant.

We have never eaten Thanksgiving dinner out at a restaurant. This was the first time, and it was a great experience at Fern and Fable. The food was very good and service was excellent. It was not. It was not crowded and there was lots of room around our table so we were able to have quiet conversation, and the pace was leisurely.
