We have not been wowed like this in a VERY long time. There were 6 of us, rather picky food snobs who also frequent some 3* Michelin restaurants in the world and the finer dining establishments of the area. We were mostly speechless. Cocktails, appetizers, entrees, deserts everything from A to Z was a tastebud festival! Creative but without falling into weirdness, perfect execution, perfect pairing of flavors, perfect plating/presentation, nice portions. As we all tasted everyone else's food, the braised short rib won favorite dish hands down. The scallops were also remarkable. Everything was really delicious though. The restaurant is in the middle of gardens with outside seating, live music. We chose to sit inside the tastefully renovated old home. The service was perfect with the friendliest and very professional staff. As we were leaving we had the pleasure of meeting the new chef Abigail Morris and congratulated her for such a remarkable experience. She is young, vibrant and "totally chill" as my daughter said! The restaurant is adjacent to People's Light Theatre. Treat yourself to dinner and a play! Or just go for the food, it is a show in it's own right! 100% recommendation, a must go to.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here and it was our first visit to The Fern & Fable. It was nothing short of outstanding in every way! We were seated outside as it was a warmer evening, there was live music, the lights were lit and the ambience was soothing and comfortable. The service was amazing, the craft cocktails were perfect for the evening and the food was outstanding! We will be back, over and over...Thank you to the entire staff!

This was our first visit to Fern and Fable but it not be our last. We sat outside where they had a live music. The atmosphere was very enjoyable. The best part was the food. We had elk and scallops. I had not seen elk on a menu in this area. Both dishes were prepared perfectly and very flavorful with the sauces. Service and cocktails & wine were also good.

The grounds leading into the restaurant were beautiful and very relaxing. I cannot state enough the great service from the time we entered the restaurant until we left. Our waiter, Steven, was so very helpful with describing the items on the menu and creating an atmosphere of family - which is so very important. The food was superb from the Charcuterie Cheese Board - tremendous, to the desert - Flourless Chocolate Torte - a chocolate lover delight. A new one for me, the Chilled Spring Pea Soup - loved it! The Elk Tenderloin - tender and delicious, Seared Scallops - plump and delicious. To the chef and the whole team a 5 star. Thank you for a very nice evening and we will be back!

A lovely small place to dine. The menu is small but delicious, except for the amount of salt they put on everything- and I mean everything- even my banana cream desert had sea salt all over it. We shared onion rings (too salty) an amazing grilled romaine Caesar (too salty), then we had bison burgers (covered in salt)- I could only eat a few bites. They were also completely out of champagne (we had a little celebration and wanted a bit of sparkly- not a single one on the menu available- they said they had not had a delivery!

Very noisy. Waitress was extremely hard to understand and basically rushed us because we were also seeing the play. Our flatbreads were served with the soup which means by the time we got to the flatbreads they were cold would not recommend this to anyone.

A Charmer! We loved this treasure of a restaurant on the grounds of the People's Light Theater. We had imaginative food and drinks, a blood orange martini, a frog and toad bourbon drink were both excellent and worth the price of the Lyft we opted for so we wouldn't need a designated driver. The duck was tasty as was the scallop entree, which had scallop ravioli with sautéed scallops over a bed of veggies. And on top of this, a WONDERFUL singer, Anakai Ney, performed a mix of R&B, jazz, folk and pop songs. A great place, particularly for a special occasion.

Fantastic buffet for holiday dinners (or brunches!) Many delicious choices. Loved the smoked salmon, cheese frittata, creamed peas and leeks (made with almond milk!) Ham, beef in gravy, chicken, and spicy shrimp creole. Asparagus soup! Desserts to die for--dark chocolate cake, carrot cake, creamy cheesecake, and blueberry bread pudding! And the Easter 🐰 bunny in person! What more can you ask for? Service was constant. Overall A+

The food was excellent. The flavors involved in each dish were very well thought out. I had the elk which was a pleasure. There were several different flavor combinations that could be made with the items on the plate and all of them were delicious. We also had the berry cobbler for dessert. Again, the flavors and ingredients were well balanced and each bite was delicious.

We had a fantastic experience! The food was amazing, but so was the wait staff and ambience. We had a private tour from the curator who showed us all the new integrated glass and lantern art from Hank Adams, and we heard about the upcoming theater shows. My kids enjoyed the best house made chocolate milk they've ever had, and I highly recommend the Autumn Greens salad with grilled apricot! We sat by the fireplace, there were fresh flower centerpieces at each table. We will be back!

Gorgeous location with a really pleasant and attentive staff. We were able to be seated right in front of the live performer, which was nice—not too loud, like a private concert. Food came out quickly and accurately (the plentiful vegetarian options were appreciated) and cocktails were crafted with care. We really enjoyed our night. A group of six had dinner before attending a play. I had the elk and my partner had the short ribs and both were delicious. Other members of our party had sandwiches and salads and also said their food was good. We were seated in the back room which ended up being a private room which was great. Service was a little sporadic and slow toward the end. I think they might be slightly understaffed. The manager stopped by to check on us which was a nice touch. Overall it was a pleasant meal, slightly on the expensive side.

The Fern & FableResponded on March 19, 2023Thank you for enjoying your dinner with us before the show. We do get a bit hectic with everyone wanting to pay at the same time once in awhile, but we always get you to the show on time. Come and enjoy us just for dinner some night without the show.

Dinner was out of this world from start to finish. My son and I split the pig and fig rustic grill top flatbread - amazing combination of salty (aged prosciutto) and sweet (white fig marmalade). Then, we split the seasonal burrata. I assured him that once he tasted the burrata - he would never eat mozzarella again - after this salad - he totally agreed, delicious. Now, onto the entrees - I have never had chicken prepared or that tasted like the organic chicken roulade - what a marriage of flavors - (took leftovers home and enjoyed them all over again later in the week). My go to when dining out is always seafood. Glad I took a chance. It was sooo worth it. My son devoured the wagyu bavette - raved about how the beef was prepared – (melted in his mouth) - and I thought he was going to stick his head in the bowl and slurp up the butternut squash puree - yummy. Desserts - cast iron winterberry cobbler - show stopper - perfect for sharing - however, my son simply could not resist the flourless chocolate tarte - neither of us could move after this feast - but it was completely / totally worth it. A special shout out to our server - (unfortunately, cannot remember his name) - who went above and beyond with recommendations that were spot on with every morsel enjoyed. And hats off to the chef who did not disappoint in any way shape or form. Will definitely be coming back to this establishment again in the near future.
