Slightly tucked away on Cowcross Street but still within a few seconds stroll of Farringdon railway and tube station, The Fence is an unassuming bar and restaurant with a good reputation for its food. Subtly put together to display comfort and class in equal measure, The Fence is suitably modern with plenty of comfy couches and armchairs in which to laze. The interior is all blonde wood, chrome and leather, very much suited to the local after work crowd while outside a surprise terrace allows for lovely al fresco drinking and dining, although get in quick because even on overcast days this space soon fills up with Londoners eager to grab just a glimpse of sun. The cuisine is typical of gastropub style fare, with all of your favourites done well and a few surprises too. Of course The Fence’s bar is well stocked, with a wide selection of wines as well as several beers and the requisite spirits awaiting the Friday night crowd. A Farringdon favourite with plenty to offer.

    Great place to eat. Definitely worth a visit with a bunch of mates ....a corner of Ibiza in the middle of Clerkenwell, just with a few more chimneys and a bit more grit Great food, excellent for sharing - only realised it was a Fuller's pub as we left, which explained the quality. As chains go, they are up there.

    Nice outside area to have business lunch. Staff is friendly and helpful although feels understaffed on a busy day. Allow more then 1h for lunch on a busy sunny day. Will come back!

    It was relatively quiet on this lunchtime visit but was a nice surprise to find such interesting food in what is essentially a pub. kind of tapas style options but with a middle eastern theme. All very yummy.

    We really enjoyed our lunch here. The concept is sharing food and we really enjoyed having lighter bites rather than a heavy pub lunch.

    Great service and very prompt through out. Enjoyed the menu and particularly recommend the Scotch Eggs and the Hanger Steak.

    We hadn't been to the Fence since it had been refurbished, nice inside, staff friendly, menu has changed, the guys on our table loved the giant scotch eggs and the chicken, I had quinoa, which was quite nice, the mains need sides with them, we will return.

    Light, modern airy restaurant a stone's throw from Farringdon station. Good choice of items on the menu. Very tasty and well presented but served as small plates to share in the style of tapas. (The portions were pretty small, so it worked out quite expensive.)
