   Was really looking forward to having the vegetarian roast after viewing the menu online only to find that they’d run out. The only other option for vegetarians was a vegan ‘baked feta’ which I ordered. Very disappointed as I wouldn’t ever have fake cheese normally but there wasn’t anything else. I was even more disappointed when it came - it was like an afterthought. Compared to the roast it wasn’t good value for money as I had to order sides because it was very lacking. I’m not sure why this trend for replacing vegetarian food for vegan has become a thing but nowadays I’d expect more choice anyway. On the plus side the staff were very attentive and our waitress took the meal off the bill without me even saying anything (maybe because I didn’t eat it!). My husband enjoyed his roast though! The buffet breakfast was lovely and again, no vegetarian option but you could help yourself to eggs and vegetables. Very tasty.

   Lovely Fathers Day Sunday lunch with family. Great Sunday roast and good alternative choices for children, also good understanding of gluten free needs. The service was excellent. Lovely fizz and wine choices too, we'll be visiting again.

   Being a Chestnut Inn we expected more. The choice of menu was fairly restricted and not what we had come to expect from the Chestnut Group. I had the belly of pork option which was simply a roast pork Sunday lunch and not very good.

   We had eat there twice earlier in the week. We had both had haddock& chips before which was excellent so my wife ordered it again. When the food arrived the meat pie, which I had ordered, did not come with the green vegetables and they did not arrive until I had eaten half the meal. The wife`s haddock looked bland not the golden crisp colour previously eaten. It was so bad she did not eat much of it! When the waitress collected the plates my wife complained about the quality of the fish and then silence followed. When I went to pay the bill they did not charge for my wife`s meal but no-one apologised or even mentioned they were not charging for the meal.

   We have been before & had a lovely roast but our last visit was disappointing. The service was good but the food was not up to their usual standard. I had the beef & it was really tender but the rest of the meal wasn't that great, overdone Yorkshires, hardly any veg & potatoes that had obviously been reheated as the skins were really difficult to cut.

   The best roast beef we’ve ever had! A delicious Sunday lunch in a lovely pub with a good atmosphere and friendly and attentive service. Would highly recommend.
