About this restaurant

  • Healthy
  • Innovative
  • Vegetarian-friendly
This July, Shuli Wimer joins Farmer J to open ‘The Fancy Fork’ on King William Street. Bringing together her five years of experience at world-renowned The River Café and the flavours of her Israeli upbringing, Shuli has created a menu championing the best of the season’s produce and inspired by Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavours.

The Fancy Fork’s menu is made for sharing; smaller dishes will be Padron Peppers with a za’atar and oregano crumb and Tahini Tuna Tartare with sliced green runner beans. Larger plates will include Zucchini Flowers stuffed with ricotta, basil and olive paste, and a Cherry Salad with herbs, feta, pine-nuts and sumac. For those looking for more substantial dishes, choices include a Freekeh Risotto topped with grilled bone marrow, aubergine and parsley and Grilled Whole Fish with smashed roasted potatoes, sage and rosemary. Those with a sweet tooth can finish with Shuli’s signature desserts.

Lovely staff, food was delicious and a great ambience for a drinks/meal get together with a friend I hadn’t seen for a while.

First time in that restaurant and it’s a very good surprise! The “small” portion to share were very good with a lot of different and very good tastes ! The service was very effective and very nice !

A fairly brief menu, but all done very well. Service was also very friendly. The only criticism - and they are not alone in this - is that piped music was set at a volume that stifled conversation.

Been here for brunches before and it's great! Sadly dinner disappointed, mainly due to the service. They did have a decent selection on the menu, the ingredients were well balanced and very tasty. But beware the small portions!! They're meant to be sharing plates but they're more small starters and not worth the price. I will say that the gnocchi, weirdly shaped as a triangle of goop rather than individual gnocchi, was divine. So so tasty and I wish I had more of it! Their £5 cocktail menu is also an attractive part of dining here, I recommend Ginger. For the service, I'm torn between saying it was the individual server who brought it down or the establishment itself. When shown to our table the whole row except one corner table was occupied. I asked if we could move to the other corner table but the first excuse was: "it's reserved at the same time as your table", to which I asked if we could just switch if they're reserved at the same time, which then came the second excuse "oh but they specifically asked for a corner table". Fair enough, I'm not rude enough to rob someone of a table they specifically asked for! However, not 10 minutes after another couple gets seated, by the same server, between our table and the "reserved corner table" and just hopped to the corner table without any faff. Now this is a wild discrimination by the server as he had no qualms with them taking the corner table, I don't care about getting that table as much as I care about being lied to! Rushed us away from our table at the end as well while we were still eating since our table and the rest were being put together for a big celebration, ANOTHER Lie - a new couple who walked in the door just got sat down the table next to ours. I love farmer J for their food and decor, but that server ruined our entire experience. I hope he learns from his mistakes/farmer J trains their servers on communication, or that we won't be served by him next time we visit.

Really lovely tasty food. The beef short ribs were melt in your mouth and unctuous. Will be a regular and return here .

Love this place, good food, nice but small selection of drinks. Great espresso martinis and cocktails in general but it is the service that makes this place as good as it is. The staff are fabulous. Just a shame its shuts so early.

Lovely ambience and atmosphere. I took a friend here to show him that it wasn’t only a place for quick-service breakfast and lunch. Attentive, friendly and knowledgeable wait staff (Meytar and Mikayla). The Chicken Shawarma was full of flavour and the laffa, warm and maleable. Just lovely. The fig and rose water dessert I found was quite cream heavy and bland, however the Banoffee pie was lovely.
