The Factory Kitchen - Los Angeles
Helmed by Restaurateur Matteo Ferdinandi, his wife Beverage Director Francine Diamond-Ferdinandi and their longtime friend and Partner Executive Chef Angelo Auriana, the Factory Kitchen re-defined the approach and the experience to casual dining in the city by combining elements of culinary arts, service, and design.
A traditional Italian Restaurant & Bar in the heart of the Arts District of Downtown Los Angeles, the Factory Kitchen culinary concept focuses on local recipes from the Northern Italian Regions; but emphasizes on some Ligurian traditional dishes like Mandilli di Seta al Pesto alla Genovese and the Focaccina Calda al Formaggio di Recco.

Dined at this restaurant for the first time and we had the 'seta" pasta, the ensalata, and the osso bucco. The pasta looked amazing, but was very much lacking in flavor and texture was gummy. The salad was huge, fresh and delicious ingredients, but dressing was bland. I tasted some heat from the chili but not much else. The osso bucco was a large serving of 3 tender pieces, however it was served over a small piece of extremely salty polenta. The dish itself was bland. I asked for more sauce and tasting that independently was also very bland. We ate it but both were not impressed.
The food is thoughtful and expertly prepared. The service isn’t overbearing, but effortless and smart. The space is good, not great (it is Factory, after all) but the valet and parking are right there. A good place for when you want it done right.
The server was very knowledgeable regarding the menu items and ingredients. The fresh pasta items were outstanding.
The prosciutto puff was the best. Tradionale and the handkerchief pasta was also good the modernesi pasta was too salty.
Cool spot for italian in the arts district. Food was okay- the prosciutto and a flat bread were recommended which meant a lot of bread before dinner. We could barely get through the pasta because of this. Overall a good scene. Have I had better pasta before? probably. Was it bad? no.
Get the handkerchief pesto it’s life changing.
Lovely food, but a little loud for catching up.
Everything we had was fantastic. The prosciutto had so much flavor, and coupled with the burratta, was just amazing. The gnocchi was cooked perfectly and the veal ragu had so much depth of flavor. My wife had the seafood ravioli, which was very rich and very flavorful. The bread putting was a wonderful dessert to end a great dinner. My wife and I enjoyed watching the fresh pasta being rolled out and the slicing of the prosciutto.
I recommend ordering an appetizer and a couple of main dishes to share. Absolutely deliciously awesome!
Great dining experience. Excellent service!
One pasta dish was good. Everything else was garbage. I have no idea how this restaurant is rated so highly.
Every dishes put me into cloud nine
Food was amazing. Great wine selection & innovative cocktail lists. Service was a bit slow due to our server having like 7 or 8 tables so ordering and paying were lengthy processes. The server was very personable & knowledgeable of menu. We will dine there again very soon!
The food is so good you forget how noisy it is. The pasta napkins in pesto is a dish you dream about later.
The bill of fare was intriguing because it included items you may not find on most other menus; the pappardelle with venison ragu, the flimsy pasta al pesto, pork belly, grouper, chick pea frittatas, etc. And these items may have won kudos once when lovingly prepared by the founding chef. But now, 5 or 6 years down the road, it seems that the person cooking is just trying to get all the dishes out so the business of eating can flow seamlessly, and all the loving seems to have gone out of the preparation. I have to say the pappardelle was great, but the frittura was soggy and both the greens and the chick peas could have been crisper. The porchetta was dry and the fennel side was oily and without a spark of taste. The grouper was too dry and chewy and only about half of it was worth eating.

We love this place, outstanding every time! My husband is from Amalfi and he has been trying to find Italian dining that is like home. He found it and needless to say he loves it! A bit of home in LA!
Superb, unique Italian food, in an always pleasant setting
Amazing food and ambiance. Always a fabulous time here. Great service.
Great food with middling service. The woman serving spilled red wine on the table when pouring and when asked for a napkin, shortly replied, “I’ve got it” and walked away. She came back and wiped it bruskly without a word - no apologies - and walked away again. There was zero hospitality or welcoming attentiveness in her attitude. The waiter serving us however was nice enough, making up for her sour attitude. The food was very good.
Factory Kitchen never disappoints ... service is seamless. We came for a pre theater lunch... spot on for tempo and flavor. I highly recommend this restaurant for everyone. Amazing food, wonderful service... left wanting for nothing!
Always a pleasure eating at The Factory Kitchen. Never a bad meal!
THE best white truffle pasta in Los Angeles!
Great food and service. Music was a bit too loud. Overall great experience.
Loved the food and ambience.
Food was incredible. Service was great!!
Outstanding Food quality! Handkerchief Pasta may be the best pasta I have ever had.
Highly recommend The Factory Kitchen to any food lovers in town!
Pasta could have been hotter for a better overall taste.
The food was excellent, service was superb! We had the calamari, handkerchief pasta, snapper and bread pudding (I can’t remember the authentic names of these wonderful dishes). Yum thank you to my husband for this lovely meal
Great foodie spot! Make a reservation! It’s pretty small but the food is made in house and it’s delicious!
Great place. Consistent service and food. Menu covers any food restrictions and interesting architecture too. What is not to love!
Very good food and highly attentive waitstaff with original menu. Very nice downtown LA 'retro' ambiance borne in converted factory. Great for wide range of personal or business. I'd recommend to anyone and would return again.
We LOVE the Factory Kithchen❣️The food is FABULOUS and the wait staff are all very knowledgeable and helpful❣️The Pasta is the BEST❣️Also the Pizza.. the one with Capers and Anchovies is a bit salty... but that’s to be expected😊
Always fun and delucious
Great food and service. The ambiance is very urban and comfortable.
Pastas and small plates are excellent for sharing. Parking is easy in the validate lot next door.
Terrible service on 12/8/19- the waiter just seemed like he wanted to get rid of us. Unfriendly, never checked in on us and gave attitude on us taking our time when deciding on dessert. We are conscious of our surroundings and if people were waiting on our table we wouldn’t have taken our time - but the restaurant was a half empty and it was an hour + before they closed. It’s very said because I feel like this entire restaurant group is going DOWNHILL. I don’t think we will be back. Overall food- C at best our mains were all cold our starters were just okay and dessert was terrible.
We went for dinner there before a show at the Ace Theater. Many friends had raved about The Factory, so we had to try it & it did not disappoint!! Everything was delicious! We tried the soft cheese/red pepper starter, which we loved & would like to recreate for the holidays. Then we tried the handkerchief pesto pasta (amazing!) & the porchetta (melted in my mouth). We both felt satisfied, not overly stuffed & had beyond contented bellies. Can’t wait to go back & try all the other plates that sounded so good!!
We greatly enjoyed our dinner at The Factory Kitchen! Whitney was a fabulous server, and patiently answered all of our questions. She was friendly and went above and beyond for our dining experience. The food was AMAZING! We'll be coming back.
The food was excellent and the service was mostly fantastic- however, about half way through our meal, our server informed us that a new server would be taking over. And then the new server never once came to our table. We would have ordered another round of drinks, dessert and coffee, but we didn't because we literally never saw her again.
Overall, the experience was great. We ordered the focaccia, a few sides and a few pastas. We absolutely loved one of the pasta dishes (Casonzei), and the mandilli, fiori & funghi, Brussels sprouts and kale were all solid. Service was great, drinks were great. Thanks for a lovely evening :)
