EXCELLENT FOOD AND EXCELLENT SERVICE STAFF ANXIOUS TO PLEASE
Slow start, 25-30 minutes after being seated before our order was taken, but impeccable service thereafter. Our server (our bill said his name is Hans) made great suggestions and kept our water glasses filled. He was attentive yet not intrusive. The food taste and presentation was the best any of us has had in Savannah in a long time, and we are foodies. We had the charcuterie tray, butter lettuce salad, monkfish, duck, and NY strip- all delicious. For dessert we had the chocolate cheesecake, pecan opera cake (like a cross between tiramisu and flourless torte to me), and key lime torte. The atmosphere is swanky and refined yet casual. We started early but by 6:30 (on a Tuesday) with a few extra tables it got pretty noisy with chatter, etc. Some acoustic wall tiles or something to absorb noise would make this a more pleasant dining experience. Otherwise, it was a nearly perfect service. We definitely will return!
We were here for tea time in the library. If you’re looking for a real experience of English tea time then it will be an experience for you. The library was such a beautiful space for it.
Awesome food and service. This is one of our “go-to” places everytime we visit Savannah.
I really couldn't have been more disappointed in this place. My best friends and I went out to celebrate a birthday, and there were several issues:
1. There was a random large dog running around the restaurant. Normally, I would love to see a cute dog, but seeing hair shed around people's tables was not okay.
2. The food was salty as hell. We got shrimp/grits, salmon, duck, and the burger, and every single thing was so salty we couldn't even finish it.
3. The food, absent the salt, was good and would have been worth the (high) price IMO.
4. It was SO loud. Not much you can do about that in a building like this without sound absorption, but that's something to note if noise bothers you.
5. Who the hell charges $5 per glass of diet coke... I've never heard of no free refills on soda, and I've never heard of a $5 soda, but I digress...
6. Service was underwhelming. Our server admitted that he had "no help" on a Saturday night, which was frustrating, and while he was generally very attentive and nice, when it came time to pay, he asked how we wanted to split the bill, and before we could answer, he handed me the entire tab and said "It would really be easier if yall just paid each other back and one person paid the ticket." As someone who has worked in the service industry for 6 years, obviously that's easier, but if that's not what the customer asked for, it doesn't matter. I paid the full tab to help him out, but am frustrated that I had to do so.
As an avid Savannah-restaurant-goer, there are many places that provide better atmosphere, food, and service than this place.
Great dinner with friends on a visit to Savannah!
Such a lovely time, we ended up here twice in two days!
First was for a Friday girls' night/Bachelorette dinner. Even though there were a few large groups dining at the same time, our server Stevie went out of his way to make our experience wonderful. Great conversation, helpful recommendations - even let us know when to expect him next as he navigated those large groups. Food was excellent, our favorite Sav Blanc was on the wine menu, and the ambiance was wonderful.
We went back for pre-dinner cocktails the next night, and David at the bar was also such a gem! Took his time to answer questions, make conversation, and even offered my friend a sample of a liqueur she'd asked about. Will 100% recommend Emporium to any friends visiting and as a new resident, will absolutely be back!
Our experience was world-class. We went in on a lazy Wednesday morning and had the best breakfast experience since our time in Savannah. The omelettes were fresh and delicious! The drinks were scrumptious. The French toast was other-worldly. Our server was attentive and pleasant. Overall, I really enjoyed our experience. The location is low-key and centrally located. 6 star rating deserved!
food was very good but stingy portions. service excellent
Great atmosphere and service. Ordered the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were a bit dry and not enough gravy. but had a good flavor.
High Tea during our Mini-Moon
It was delicious and the staff is incredibly friendly!
Beautifully decorated restaurant with good wine selection
Birthday . We were not able to combine dairy and meat or eat seafood - which many of the menu items contained. It was not possible to have to food choice prepared without these items which made a small menu much more limited.
Made a reservation at 8:30pm on memorial day party of 3. The place is spacious and clean. Nice place to have dinner and they have a bar too. Location is nice there are bars at every corner. We ordered lamb shank, duck and steak for main. A bottle of crois malbec and started with brussel sprout app. Everything is good except that the sauce on shank is way too heavy on sodium its overwhelming need to tone it down a bit. Hans our server is attentive and professional. We will come back for sure. Thank you for a nice evening dinner 🥰
Very loud and tables are extremely close together so difficult to carry a conversation. Charcuterie was the star.
Very lively vibe. We always get great service here. Food is always fresh and delicious. Got a bit loud as more people were seated. Noise level made conversation difficult.
The food was delicious and the presentation was definitely fine dining. The restaurant’s decor is welcoming and refined. The only issue was- Our waiter was arrogant and had no personality. We were not demanding at all but he was annoyed at how often he needed to refill our water. He was also aggravated if we asked questions about items on the menu. He made us all feel very uncomfortable! It was our first time dining there and wanted his expertise. We would definitely eat there again, and hope to have a different server!
This is a must visit in Savannah! I will definitely be coming back! The food was amazing and every detail was perfect.
Thank you for your review! We are so glad you enjoyed your time with us!
Amazing setting, food was impeccable and service went above and beyond
We are so pleased to hear you enjoyed your experience. We hope you will visit us again soon!
Food was delicious and service was fantastic!
Very good food for lunch recently. However, waitress delivered check without ever asking if we wanted dessert. After we requested dessert menus, she delivered only one for the whole table. She then disappeared for 30 minutes after dropping off the dessert menu saying she was also working in the coffee shop. Final straw was when we asked to take leftovers home she brought only one contaier for the three dishes. She ruined what was a tasty meal.
We are very sorry to hear you were unhappy with your service. We would very much like to speak with you regarding your experience. We will message you with how best to contact us.
Atmosphere is wonderful! Martinis are great and I had the best duck EVER!
Loved the food, the server was great, the restaurant temperature was uncomfortable.
Enjoyable evening celebrating wife’s birthday.Food was really good and staff exceptional.
great friendly service and great food prepared perfectly - love the brussell sprouts! will return soon
I ordered the peach French toast and there were 2 very small slices of peaches- I would have expected more. Taste was good but asked for more peaches but he never brought.
Get the flatbread.
Unfortunately this experience was not worth the money. My group did not even get to sit in the library.
Tea for 2 and 2 for tea
Food was very good. Lacked service. Was not busy as there were only two other couples there. Had reservation and was there 5 minutes prior although we had to wait for third person for about 15 minutes. Went from breakfast to lunch but food was great. But, wait staff was lacking to detail. Had to ask for water after being seated for about 10 minutes and ordered coffee. Brought drinks out but no cream asked for. Coffee was never replenished and had to ask for more water. Food served and never saw server again till bill was brought out. Do not have to go back as there are plenty of restaurants around that value their customers and have great food
We had a great time at the Afternoon Tea service. We were seated in the back Library room and it was very quiet. A beautiful space. The food is what you would expect at any tea service, and the tea was delicious. The service was a bit slow, and the waitress was sometimes hard to track down, but I understand that with COVID, they may be using less staff. Jennifer, one of the managers, assured we had a most pleasant experience though and went above and beyond to welcome us. I would definitely return back!
We went for afternoon tea in the library. We upgraded to the “boozy” tea, which meant you actually paid $20 for a minuscule taste of alcohol and you forfeit your non alcoholic tea for that. The treats/food was sparse and mediocre at best. No music or any kind of background entertainment at all. So…it was $156 for 2 people and we’d have done much better at the Starbucks for under $20. If you want to experience afternoon tea, just say no to this. It’s a total rip-off.
Beautiful setting with outstanding ambience. Lovely Tea service. The separate tea pots, selection of teas and professional customer service was exquisite.
We are s happy to hear you enjoyed our Afternoon Tea in the Library! We hope to welcome you back again soon!
Beautiful food and drinks, attentive staff, cool atmosphere!
The restaurant was understaffed but the food was amazing
The food and aesthetic is good but food and drinks are slightly overpriced and the environment is really quiet. I enjoy an energetic and lively environment so it wasn’t my favorite. If you want a quiet and fancy night, this is a good place for that.
Great food and service!
