About
Really enjoyed our meal. Nice variety of items on the menu. Service was great. Only downside ....they were out of some food options (ribs) and several wine choices on the menu even though reservation was at 7am on a Saturday.
Nice neighborhood place with excellent comfort food
Birthday for a friend, the food is outstanding!!
The Ellis space is very welcoming- has the laidback vibe I look for in a restaurant. Decor well done, attractive and comfortable.
Kevin is ever the host and I appreciated his humble sense of pride.
My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful breakfast. I had the veg hash with sausage - pure gluten free heaven. Husband plowed through his chorizo hash- he loved it. Potatoes and poached egg were perfectly cooked, with perfectly seasoned veggies. Oh! I had the best iced coffee... coffee ice cubes with some delish liqueurs... it sneaks up on you.
All in all- loved our time and will be back!!
The restaurant was closed.
Server made so many mistakes and was acting very strange. After constantly making mistakes the server was eventually sent home. What was supposed to be a nice team celebration outing turned into a bit of a gong show.
Awesome as always!
I went for a date night and Ellis did not disappoint! Amazing food, quick service, private and responsive. We both had a great time and appreciated the casual food that was amazing quality.
Rainy Vancouver night, great service, great food, and a medium rare burger to boot.
eally good food! The mussels were amazing. Friendly service
We were a table of 8 with kids and a stroller. The restaurant had a nice relaxing atmosphere which was great cause we were all tired from a day swimming in the nearby pool.
Our server was attentive and made sure everyone was happy. Thumps up for service and food. We will definitely stop by next time we are in the area.
The only note that I can make is in regards to OT reservation. Please make sure to let your front staff know that they need to mark the guests as seated on open table otherwise customers get a notification as if the reso was missed.
Celebrating a birthday
Food was great! Would def return for the ribs, cauliflower appetizer and kale and Brussel sprout salad.
I like this place partly because the music is turned down low. That could be because it’s pretty dinny with the guests talking so louder music would make it impossible to hear or talk. But I still really appreciate having the music firmly in the background.
Cool menu! Had Farro bowl w salmon - delish! The soy eggs were crazy but good.
My dinner companion had the Ellis burger and fries and gave two thumbs up.
Only disappointment is the wine prices: $13 for a 6 oz pour! Drinking wine has become way too expensive to be fun. I would love to see a easy-peasy cheap glass, like the Open Wines from Okanagan, for the times you just want to be able to drink wine like you can beer....
Room was dark & dingy, with zero ambience. Food wasn’t bad, except for mussels that were small & stringy. Probably won’t go back.
We wanted an early dinner for a big group before walking to Bard on the Beach. This was the perfect spot. Great location, relaxed ambiance, attentive serivce. For a group of seniors around 5pm it was quiet enough for conversation. For a mix of European- and Asian-Canadian tastes, there was something for everyone, though we didn't try the cocktails or desserts.
Great happy hour. They accommodated a large group with short notice. Lovely patio with excellent service.
We were there on a quiet Sunday morning. We had excellent service from our two servers. My table partners were way too picky about the menu, and exactly how they wanted their food. I was embarrassed, but the servers handled it well. I would return to The Ellis.
It was very quiet that night after the Kits Day event. Great food!
Nice place to meet with friends and have a couple of drinks and some food - talking of which, the food was good but not as good as it should have been at that price point ... still we had fun :)
Very attentive service and staff. The food was nicely done and cool drinks. Good vibes.
Lovely place for brunch. The French toast was delicious.
A kids menu would be useful
Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Will be back!
Fantastic staff, super accommodating for our large group that kept changing size (~30). Great place for a party!
brutal loud table beside us the completely ruined our dining experience
Nice vibe, bright, modern. The staff was very friendly and on top of it. The food wasn’t bad; a little overpriced. The coffee was excellent. Reservations aren’t a must unless you insist on a low rise seat—they filled up fast.
Perfect way to break up a nice walk in the heart of Kitsilano.
The food was great and portions really large. The only thing that stops us from giving it 5 stars was the 5oz wine at $12 per glass and bottles at almost 3 times the price. This isn't Bishop's. Beers were reasonably priced. Too bad as the food is really good but won't be back as often as we like our wine with meals.
Absolutely delicious food! Service was attentive, environment was casual - if it had been busy, it would have been loud, but it was a perfect Sunday afternoon spot for us!
The food and service here was amazing. We ended up ordering the cauliflower three times because we loved it so much! Will definitely come back for more.
Service was a bit lacking but doos surprisingly good and tasty.
Highly recommend the octopus- absolutely amazing!!!
Had the portobello mushroom benedict. It was delicious over biscuits instead of the usual boring english muffin. Highly recommended.
The food was excellent! We each had an excellent piece of salmon, cooked perfectly. The service was helpful, knowledgeable and very friendly. We will definitely come back.
Overall, the food and service was great. There was a loud table of young college guys, and a holiday party, that made it less ideal for dining. Definitely more of a neighborhood bar, that also happens to serve food.
Staff were amazing and food was delicious. The only thing was that the live music was too loud with people talking. Not a good place if you want to have a conversation unless you get a seat at the back. But we really enjoyed the foid, musician was great.
Great service, relaxed vibe, but the food was hit and miss, and a bit overpriced for what you received. They do bar food well, but overreach in some of their fancier offerings.
Was pretty quiet when we arrived at 630pm but more people arrived
Food was good decent price server was nice
We made reservations to have dinner after a show. None of us had been to The Ellis before and we were pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere was friendly, lively and definitely comfortable. Our waitress was awesome and the food was terrific. Some of us had full meals (ribs, cornish hen) and others had appetizers (roasted cauliflower, chicken wings). Everything was delicious. It was one of our party member's birthday and our waitress asked if it was alright if she brought a treat to the table. It was a plate of beignets - enough for all of us to enjoy. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful evening. And the prices were very reasonable. Would definitely recommend!
The Ellis was great! Best mojito I’ve had all summer! The grilled octopus was great, and my partner loved the bison burger. The gnocchi could have been better. Not enough gnocchi pieces and too much dry edamame. Otherwise I’d go again!
Asked for the bill and it never came. Eventually had to go to the bar to pay.
