The Elkridge Furnace Inn
Chef-owned, yard and farm to table, using lots of local sourcing, our complex dishes turn ordinary ingredients into something extraordinary. Seasonal menu and daily specials. Our historic location is part of the adventure!
We serve a fusion of New American and French Inspiration. Our executive chef was trained under the French disciplines which always come out in our stocks, sauces and presentations. Many regional and ethnic cuisines influenced by French cuisine are also reflected on our menu. Our in-House Pastry will add just the right ending to your dining experience.
We love creating special times to share with our friends. We intersect literature, history and geography as story with our food. There is always something new and creative happening. At the Elkridge Furnace Inn and Garden House, “we make Memories”.

Great meal as always, with a very good and fairly priced wine list. The tart and veal were superb.
The food was absolutely delicious! Steve, our waiter was so conscientious and friendly. We had a great experience!
Thanksgiving was wonderful. Great food. Would recommend to family and friends.
Our annual Thanksgiving dinner at The Furnace Inn was exceptional as always. It was also my mother’s 90th birthday. The staff made sure she had an unforgettable experience which she stills talks about. Thank you Chef Dan and to all of your staff for the many years of outstanding service and delicious cuisine.
This is by far the best restaurant around!! Service, Food, Atmosphere all outstanding.
Great ambience. Very spacious so you dont feel crowded. very important if you are just starting to go back into restaurants to eat.
We have been going to the Elkridge Furnace Inn for a dozen years for lunches, dinners and special events, and almost ten years for Thanksgiving. Everything about the place is first class, and we always enjoy talking with the owners.
My wife and I did date-night and was an excellent choice venue before we headed out to catch a show. Great ambiance. Wine selection was amazing and the food from appetizers to the main course was of highest order. Our server was excellent and once he knew we were heading to a show, made sure our meals arrived on time. Definitely on our list to do again.
First visit - absolutely loved the ambiance and the old historic house is awesome. Unfortunately, the service is SLOW and inaccurate. It was for a birthday Sunday brunch so it wasn't busy. It took one entire hour for the food to arrive (c'mon its brunch not dinner!). The server, although friendly, was too slow, he asked if we wanted another drink and he forgot to bring it, we asked for hot sauce and he forgot to bring it. The food is good but because of the service, I would hesitate returning. Sorry. Loved the setting.
This restaurant is truly one of my favorites and one I will continue to patron regularly. However, we had absolutely terrible service on this visit. A waiter did not visit our table for a solid 15 minutes until I flagged one down. He very rarely tended to our table and our glasses were left empty for over half the meal. When we asked about dessert, it took some time for him to return with the dessert menus and then we were left alone for what felt like half an hour before we flagged him down again. At that point we decided not to bother with dessert although my friend did order scones to go. The only thing he was quick with was the check, but he forgot to add the drinks and had to redo it. I have never experienced poor services at the Elkridge Furnace Inn in many, many visits, so this was very unexpected and disappointing. Either our waiter was new or very distracted. The restaurant was not terribly busy and there was no excuse for the inattention.
It is a nice location and good service. The food was bland and each dish had a spice that was slightly off on taste.
The ambiance was was exactly what I was looking for in an intimate dinner for two. We sat in front of the fireplace. Chef Dan and our waiters were very pleasant ans paid special attention to detail. Everything we tasted was absolutely amazing. From Chef Dan's Cream of Baltimore and the Roasted Butteenut Squash Bisque, to the NY Steak w/Truffle Butter Sauce, Shrimp & Scallop Coquille St. Jack, everything bite received a wow from my date, lol. We had the Bourbon Apple Teifle for dessert. We will most definitely return.
The venison shank is amazing. The lamb shank is a bit plain, as the steak and the veal.
This is the best restaurant in the area.. We had a wonderful 50th anniversary celebration for a brother and sister-in-law! Chef Jared is phenomenal. Jake and Steve are the best waiters!
Inside has a nice rustic look and feel. Service was excellent the entire time and the staff was very welcoming. The food was really good although maybe a tad bit overpriced, but we would still go back. Great dinner date.
We went for jazz night in the celebration tent., which was extremely nice. It was also a birthday celebration which the Inn made special.
Wife and I had a very nice romantic dinner. The historic house is beautiful and the warm fire place and waterfront scenery adds a nice ambiance. The chef and owner came to our table and talked wits us for a bit. Our ordered were taken and everything was spaced out perfectly thanks to Wade. Our starters were on point and our main courses were wonderful. Will definitely return for another date night.
The salad was outstanding and fresh, I had the garden, my husband the ceasar.
Our main courses were prepared to perfection, mine was the lamb shank (kind of huge) with couscous and my husband had strip steak.
Tasty dessert! The waitstaff was courteous, knowledgable and non intrusive. Have been wanting to dine there for some time. Will definitely return.
Steak was maybe toughest I ever had. Couldn’t eat it. Get a dry ager.
I am pretty easy to please and had high expectations based on other reviews, but was disappointed. Met some friends for brunch and when first arrived the woman who greeted us at the door looked annoyed that we walked in. She was going outside to serve some water to guests and my friend opened the door to help her and she said "that's a good idea" in a not very friendly fashion and did not say Thank You. Once seated the waiter was nice and attentive, however the food was very bland - all of us had to ask for salt to spruce it up. My omelette was also very dry. I was really looking forward to going here based on other reviews, but not sure I would go back.
Great food with better delivery. Tried something surprising on the wine list from the chefs recommendation and I have rarely been so pleased and impressed. It is a beautiful establishment with great charm and always make for a memorable experience.
Our compliments to the Chef! Every menu item was creative and delicious. The chef has created a menu that allows even young children to approach and experience new foods! The wait/house staff created an environment that made each of us feel very welcomed.
This was a lovely experience, and we look forward to becoming frequent visitors of this establishment and experience more of what Chef Dan creates.
Wonderful service. Flavors were delightfully understated. We’ll definitely return!
This is by far my favorite restaurant. It is rare that you can count on seeing the chef/owner at every meal. The food is phenomenal, the service impeccable, and the ambience wonderful as well. :)
Celebrated my husband birthday. The food and service were outstanding and superb. Will definitely return.
The four of us enjoyed our brunch. The experience was flawlessly executed. Glasses of water are smaller, but a bottle is placed on the table and a the young many keeps refilling the glasses from his pitcher.
The menu was varied and tasty. The food was hot. The servers were helpful with additional requests. There was enough food that I had to pass up dessert. My nephew was celebrating his birthday with champagne for four and a candle on his pumpkin cheese cake.
We were there on a Saturday night. The ambiance is lovely, and the owner was there and made it a point to talk with the guests, including us. That was really appreciated. It was a very busy night and it was a full house. Like so many places these days, the service was slow and not terribly thoughtful. Although we had reservations for 7:15, and we were seated around 7:30, we didn't get dinner until almost 9. We certainly understood, but it did impact our overall impression. We will try again, on hopefully a better night.
The food was great! We were seated in a small dining area, so even with full tables, the noise level was very low. We could actually carry on a conversation in normal speaking voices. What a lovely change from so many loud and noisy restaurants we’ve been to before. The service was perfect, with attentive servers, even though they were pretty busy. We’ve lived in the area for years and this was our first time there. We’ll be going back!
Great place. Food fantastic. Owners very pleasant and attentive. Staff on point Will go there again
My wife and I married here and have gone back for a few anniversaries. The service is always great and the food is consistently amazing.
Absolutely our favorite restaurant!! We celebrate four birthdays there each year and wouldn't think of going anywhere else. The farm to table menus are ALWAYS prepared to perfection and the service is impeccable and friendly.
Our first time here, and we’ll be back. Food was excellent. Lovely soups, good salads, very good entrees, and amazing desserts. Shrimp and grits was different from any I’ve had before, but a very well-prepared and tasty dish. Lamb shank was beautiful. The apple trifle was delicious!! Service was attentive and cheerful but not intrusive.
Great menu coupled with suggestions from the chef. Great atmosphere and an enjoyable experience.
This is my go to place for any very special event, and celebrating my girlfriend's birthday for the first time in our new relationship was just that. The ambiance was just what we wanted, and the food was delicious. We'll be back when it's time to celebrate again!
This is a very cute and quaint place. The food is solid and the service is great. It's a cute date brunch spot that seems to attract a solid group of regulars.
The crab cakes were delicious, the service was excellent and the setting is beautiful. Well worth the drive to meet up with an old friend.
It was amazing! We loved our experience. We were celebrating a new job change and were given free champagne! Such a great spot!
Amazing dinner, as always!
Good food and nice atmosphere except some people tried to rope us into their ceremony out back as we were leaving. Sorry but we aren't wedding crushers LOL!
This place is beautiful and food was excellent. Will go back for sure.
