The Dutch Ale House
We had a quick dinner before catching a movie at The Orpheum. I loved my juicy BlueBurger- with onion jam and bacon and a light, delicious brioche bun. My husband enjoyed the sausage platter with sauerkraut. I had a draft Guinness and my husband had a wheat beer. Everything was tasty but $8 for a draft and $16 for a burger is expensive. I’m originally from NYC but I’ve lived in the Hudson Valley for 28 years- I cant help but resent having to pay NYC prices.
Excellent food and service!!
The Dutch Ale house was so, so amazingly accommodating! My friends and I were doing a day-hike near by and wanted to have dinner afterwards at the Dutch Ale house. But as the day went on, I had to keep calling to change the reservation to a later time. So Thank You, for being so patient with us!
Aside from that the place is beautiful, the decor and ambiance is so inviting. The food is so delicious and the service is top notch. If ever in the area again, I will make sure to stop by.
The ambiance is dark wood with some upholstery banguets but the wood chairs could use cushions for comfort. Food is basic but good. Five of six of us had fish and chips which was a large haddock fillet. House cut fries were large and crispy. I had the sausage on a bun with homemade sauerkraut. Very tasty. The house ale was average and I would go with another choice next time. If everyone didn’t order the same meal I could be more help. They have a bunch of burgers including lamb. Would try that next. Sound was loud until a table with a bunch of kids left. If the place is busy I would expect it’s noisy since the bar is in both rooms. Desserts are from a nearby bakery. Limited selection.
Loved the layout, the food and the wine/beer list. Service was excellent. It was a little bit noisy due to the narrow nature of the building, but other than that I loved it all. Will definitely come back again. I believe our server's name was Gabe. Food and drinks were out quickly and done to perfection.
Pickle Jar app was delicious if you are a pickle lover like me. The salmon was delicious. The rainbow trout special was tasty, but there were a lot of bones in it which made it hard to eat or enjoy. Super happy to see the Downeast as draft selection!! Would definitely recommend.
we really enjoyed dinner in The Dutch Ale House.
Lamb burger was very good, we also liked our appetizer - salmon dip.
apple pie was not impressive and reminded the one I buy in supermarket.
Service was great, nice and efficient.
This place a gem in heart of the town of Saugerties. The food is wonderful and reasonably priced. The bartender was helpful in pairing wine with our dinner. Would highly recommend people try this restaurant out.
This is like stepping into a old Dutch or German Bar. The staff is very nice and helpful. The beer is nice and cold with a lot of different beers. I had the sausage and sourkruat it was all homemade and very good. Will be back.
The chicken wings were out of this world!
Service was great- very customer focused and accommodating. The food was outstanding- fresh, local and creative. Everyone enjoyed their meals- and the options were awesome for carnivores and vegans alike. My sole complaint was a lack of local wine selections on the menu. Would be fantastic to see some local wines. Otherwise- awesome spot and highly recommended.
Fun enjoyable and great food and service
We enjoyed the environment, the room, the service was very helpful. The food was delicious and the beer was terrific. Personally I liked the beer and that's saying a lot as I don't even like or drink beer. I had my glass of wine, but got tastes of the beer and enjoyed it--that's a first!
Had a reservation but they were happy to take us early when we arrived. Service very attentive, fish and chips to die for. Large cut fries seasoned and cooked perfectly. Fish huge and delicious. Cocktails made perfectly. Staff recommended a beer when I wasn’t sure which to order, very pleased. Would definitely return again. Don’t skip this place if you are in the area.
We had an excellent meal! The wait staff was wonderful, as well! A hidden gem!
Good food, good service, convivial atmosphere.
Will definitely return.
A wonderful experience, as always. Great selection of quality beers. Had the lamb burger for the first time, and it was fantastic.
I’ve never had a bad meal at the Dutch. Everything is delicious and I look forward to seeing what the specials are each week to know what is new that I will try. The service is always excellent and accommodating and the atmosphere is fun and down to earth. My favorites are the blue burger, pimento cheese deep, wedge fries, truffle fries, and harvest sandwich. Yes basically the entire menu is my favorite. Great job. Keep it up.
Very pleased with food and service despite being busy for St Patrick's Day weekend. Would definitely go again
I felt that even with the renovation upgrade, which opens up the space in a very nice way-capitalizing on its unique spatial and architectural attributes, the restaurant maintained its down-to-earthness. Food is delicious and well priced. Excellent experience all around.
Delicious food, great service in a casual atmosphere - what more can you ask for. We loved the live music too. Katy Hofstatter’s music was a great addition to the night!
Becoming my new favorite go to place for a quick delicious bite!
We arrived a few minutes early. Grabbed a drink at the bar. Brendan did a wonderful job at whipping up specialty cocktails. Our table was ready in 10 minutes. We asked to move our table from the bar area to the dining room last minute and, if we didn’t mind another 10 minute wait, they did...happily. There was s
We had a wonderful New Years Eve at the Dutch! The food and beverages were delicious and they had an awesome band booked to ring in the new year! We will definitely be going back.
Had a best friend lunch and it was just wonderful. We both ordered the Veggie Burger made with beets and all kinds of amazingly delicious veggies. It came with cole slaw or salad or fries. We shared cole slaw and salad and that was perfect. We had wine and talked...never rushed. Absolutely terrific. Wait staff was so nice. Down to earth, kind and made it a truly great time for us. Thank you.
Awesome place! The staff was so polite and cool. The service was attentive without being overbearing. The wine list was very good and diverse- even by the glass options. The food was fresh and from scratch- very good. My only complaint is my burger was a tad over done and dry. Aside from that- 5 stars all around.
My husband and I ate here on a chilly November evening when we were staying overnight nearby.. We were so pleased with everything! Service was great, and the food was outstanding. Would highly recommend.
I booked a table for 12 and an extra table for 6 for a reunion of high school friends. They accommodated us very well and we all had a great time and the food was plentiful and excellent. We all had a really great time. The staff was very nice. Thank you
Went for HV restaurant week. It’s very loud. The food was very good, however, nothing was particularly hot and portions on the smaller side for the price.
Would return probably for lunch and burgers.
6 of us had lunch, and all 6 of us were very pleased or pleased. Loved the Brat/saurkraut sandwich. Biggest Brat I have seen. Will definitely go back. Service was excellent, and the prices were reasonable.
We came here with my inlaws for dinner on a Sunday evening. The staff was helpful finding appropriate seating for my mother-in-law (walker). I ordered the shrimp and grits which was delicious. My husband had the fish and chips which he was happy with. My father in law like his chicken but the purple carrots he had with it were underdone. The beer selection was good.
We were only in Saugerties for the weekend & a local recommended Dutch Ale House to us & it did not disappoint. We were celebrating our anniversary & while it is not a "fancy" place, the food was excellent & they had some vegan options. Our server was very attentive & so sweet.
Great menu, awesome staff and ambience. Desert was delicious!
Service was great, food was good with good variety. Prices were fair.
The food is always consistently prepared, and it's the best pub grub in the valley. It used to be my favorite spot in the village and remains to be after the renovation. We Love The Dutch.
Love The Dutch!
We come here regularly. One of our favorite places to eat.
Went to the Dutch Ale House on a Saturday night, and it was awesome! We were seated immediately and quickly greeted by our server. The drinks were really unique and tasted amazing. We tried the beet salad, white hummus, blue burger, fish and chips, sausage plate, and fried cauliflower wings. The food was SO GOOD. Obviously fresh ingredients and great presentation. Definitely recommend, it’s our new fave in Saugerties!
Delicious cocktails and some healthier choices for dinner. Food was fresh and delicious. Another great addition to Saugerties town eating.
Great range of draft beers, food was good and had a good vibe, particularly for a Monday evening. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.
We were regular customers when the Dutch was run by the previous owner. This was our first visit under new ownership. The menu has been changed and has considerably less selection. Our dinners were over cooked. My husband’s potato wedges were inedible. He asked if frites could be brought as a replacement. Instead he got another serving of potato wedges! My first choice for dinner was no longer available . They had sold out of it. It was only 6:30 pm. Very early in the evening to run out of an entree when there are only 6 on the menu ( 2 of those are hamburgers). Very disappointed. Hopefully things will improve.
