Best value in Charlotte for a steak dinner!
Went for a date night and was really pleased with the restaurant. The food was really good, we got the steak and the duck (both cooked well tasty), the fries were amazing. The price was definitely fair for what ordered, and they had wine bottle options that weren't complete rip offs. Service was pretty good but I'm not a very needy customer (I like to be left alone when I eat). Only downside was the tables are a bit cramped so we a had two person table with people less than 2ft away from us on both sides. Not a huge deal but its hard to overhear other peoples conversations. Will be going again.
Our waitress was great. Food was great. The 2x2 table they sat the 4 of us at was not great.
The bacon Mac and Cheese is awesome / very smoky flavor. My husband likes his steak with the Gorgonzola sauce. Brussel sprouts were good. The mussels were ok - they serve them in a dish so they cooled down quicker than if they were in a hot pot. Worth a visit.
I came here for brunch, as I've already experienced dinner which was amazing. Brunch however was horrible. I Choose French Toast, which I ordered strawberry filling on the side. ( they added pecans which was a upcharge I didn't ask for )When the food came out, I asked for warm syrup. The server went on about how the kitchen staff was in a bad mood and would not warm up the syrup, and offered it to me cold. I also ordered the lobster mac &cheese, which was pretty pricey..... but it wasn't flavorful and little to no lobster. My friend ordered the chicken and funnel cake.. it was dry. She asked for ranch, which the server said to would be an upcharge... ( bc you can't have warm syrup). We just could not believe the service, not to mention it was only about 5 parties in the entire restaurant, one being a party of about 6 which was sat next to us and very loud. I left as hungry as I did when I arrived. I will not be returning
I proposed to my girlfriend here. they were so accommodating and helpful. Truly a magical day!
Was served food with rancid oil on it. Service was a mess got steaks and waited 10 minutes for steak knives. You’d think a steak place a predrop of steak knife was standard practice. Ordered the duck fries which for a $5 up charge were not worth it given then had basically no duck on them but that was the least of the issues...bottomless fries were never asked or offered a refill. Waters were never refilled
Food was very good. Good atmosphere - just a tad noisy but not too bad. We enjoyed it very much.
Food was phenomenal and more than enough! Definitely recommend sharing. Service was okay but our waitress had a situation going on.
Service and atmosphere was amazing! The food could’ve been better though, my duck was a little on the dry side but other than that everything was great.
Excellent restaurant! We arrived 30 mins early and they sat us with no problem; great service. Waiter was kind, patient, knowledgeable. The food was amazing!! Loved the duck entree and peanut butter chocolate dessert. Will definitely recommend this restaurant to others.
Restaurant was decent. Menu was a bit limited, but we were mostly interested in the steak and fries. It was ok, but nothing to brag about. Service was lacking. While the atmosphere was cool it was very loud. Probably won't rush back...
Service was very rushed and inattentive. Fries were undercooked. Brussel sprouts were undercooked. Hoping it was just an off night because we like the ambiance!
Nice place to get brunch
My wife and I have enjoyed dining at the Dunavant on five separate occasions, and we have enjoyed each and every time. The food has always been amazing and an incredible value for the money. This is our go to spot for a romantic date night and we recommend it to all our friends. What makes The Dunavant separate from other restaurants in the area is the service and care the owner and manager show the patrons. On every occasion we have visited, the manager has come by our table to see how else he can make our dining experience more enjoyable. Not every time has been perfect; since people make mistakes and accidents happen, but how they have made up for those mistakes and ensured that we leave having a positive experience, is what sets them apart and makes us come back every time.
We highly recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a nice atmosphere with a quality meal and good service without breaking the bank. We look forward to coming back many times more!
Very happy with the food quality and decor. Very tasty and priced right. Only slight negatives are the restaurant is loud and the hostess was a little condescending/rude.
We went for a birthday dinner and although during this time period there was a set menue, it was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this vibrant restaurant.
Had reservations wasn’t seated till about 30 min after . Once seated took another hr before the food came. They also did not have any toppings for the fries claimed to run out on our order.
The food is good quality and value however there are very few options if one of your party doesn’t like beef or fish. Service was really bad this last visit.
We really enjoyed the service our waiter Darius provided us. He was a hoot 😋
It was Valentines Day, the food and drinks were great the only downfall was it was so loud you really couldn’t carry on a conversation at all.
Food menu was limited but good quality. Wine menu was limited but well thought out. Creme brûlée was outstanding! Service was ..... friendly but not timely or knowledgeable. Struggled to describe the cocktails and lacked follow-up (forgot my beer though they brought my wife’s cocktail and they didn’t have bread but failed to come back to tell us that). While it was a nice evening, not sure we would make it a regular spot.
Great food, nice atmosphere
Loved it! Perfect for Valentine’s Day too!
We came for our anniversary brunch my husband and I.
First let's just start by saying this place is beautiful but if you are looking to be celebrated it's NOT the place for you.
I asked for splenda for my coffee, and they were out. I asked for mayo for my fries, they were out ...
I ordered a tomato soup with a grilled cheese. the sandwich was soggy and the soup was inedible... the only ingredient on there was pepper...
Let's just say i was not impressed.
Good food...horrible service. Plus there was a group of about 15 girls that looked like a plastic surgery convention.
My birthday dinner experience was great overall. I enjoyed the ambiance, attentiveness of the server and the food. My steak dish as well as a friend of mine had to be remade because it arrived to my table cold I’m assuming due to my party size and trying to have all the food come out at the same time, but when the dishes came back out they were very good. My sister had the duck which was amazing! Overall my server Darius and Chef David made my birthday evening a great experience! Thank you.
The menu seems limited at first, but when the food comes you forget all about the lack of main course options because everything was so tasty and plated well! My Cosmopolitan was excellent, steak was seasoned and cooked to my liking and the Chimichurri sauce was amazing!!
Orfu and all of the staff from greeting station to everyone... So pleasant and lovely. The food is delicious and well-priced. Small menu but everything is well-made and delicious. The decor is beautiful.
It was an interesting night to say the least but my wife and I at the end of the meal were pretty happy with the whole meal and experience...
Our server was new so you could tell she was still figuring things out which is expected, she was very kind however there were a few things that oddly happened that shouldn’t be an issue. We placed our order and ordered the calamari to start as an appetizer, my starter course which I chose a salad came first. We didn’t have our cocktails yet, or the calamari and what’s strange about all of that is why didn’t my wife soup come with the salad if y’all were going to give us our soup salad and calamari at first? the calamari is an appetizer so that should be the only thing on the table unless the guests request otherwise. But even before that, the cocktails should always always always be on the table before any food arrives. It’s simple steps of service that are being missed and it’s not just our server it’s the whole restaurant. Maybe lack of communication is causing it? I’m not sure, but they did make an effort to clean up some of the mistakes. Like I ordered the Gorgonzola fries with my steak and only my wife’s Brussels sprouts came out and I was fry-less for several minutes, then the waitress brought over some loaded fries sayin it was on the house which was great to do while we waited for our correct order of Gorgonzola fries, but why did that even happen? First no fries, then fries we didn’t order (but they were free so we were happy) and then finally the correct order of fries came out. This all happened maybe over the course of 10-15 minutes. Just strange as to why not correct food is coming out and not all together in the correct order. The food was delicious, cocktails tasted great, just a little bit of polishing to do. Another thing Is don’t leave the table cleaner bottle and dirty rag on a table next to guests trying to enjoy their meal. (fyi if you can’t tell have worked in food and beverage industry over 12 years)
Owner told us “she didn’t care” and stormed off when we commented about not letting us know they were out of wine before waiting 20 minutes. Then not having another comparable wine available. The wine menu only has 10 wines by the bottle so for a steak place little choice. We asked our waitress for a recommendation from the bar tender and was told he was new and not that knowledgeable. With just Poot management the lack of service makes sense. I do feel sorry for the staff.
Food was mediocre with Pretzel Bits being the standout item.
Salad and butternut squash soup were both delicious. Steak was cooked perfectly. Fries were not anything special. Honestly they reminded me of McDonald’s but everything else (including cocktails) was great so I’d go back. Especially for the price. I will say i wasn’t thrilled with the sauce I selected for my steak so asked for a different one. I was surprised to find a $2 extra charge on my bill for this.
This was our second visit, and unfortunately, the quality of the steak was the same. It’s not a good cut of meat. Somehow it is both fatty, and tough. The truffle fries however, are fantastic! So are the soups and salads.
