About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Good for business meals
  • Charming
For over three decades, The Drover has been the place to go in Omaha, Nebraska for a good steak. The rustic, vintage decor and dim lighting adds to the traditional steakhouse ambiance. Reservations are encouraged at The Drover due to its popularity. The signature whiskey marinade, available on cuts, such as the filet and the ribeye, is what sets The Drover apart from other steakhouses in the area. Shrimp, chicken and seafood entrees are all also available should a guest prefer an alternative to red meat. Burgers, appetizers and soups are options for those looking for lighter fare. No visit is complete without a trip to the salad bar. Not only is it a healthy choice, it is also known as one of the first salad bars in Omaha.

The Drover exceeded all expectations. I visited with friends from out of town and they were thoroughly impressed. Get the whiskey ribeye!

I'm not sure how long you can continue to sing the praises of The Drover without it being impossible to get into. The place was very busy ON A MONDAY NIGHT! That's crazy! First off, the ambiance is perfect for a steakhouse. Quiet and secluded rooms with low lighting and feels very homey. The service was awesome! We had a server who was great at what she does, but we had a few other people who stopped by the table, refilled glasses, removed plates, asked how everything was, etc. It really is a great team approach, and the Drover should be commended for that. The food was amazing as always. If there's a better whiskey marinated NY Strip anywhere, I'd like to see it because it was absolutely perfect. Perfect temperature, perfect grill marks, perfect flavor. This truly is one of the best steakhouses in Omaha and is cheaper than most.

For some reason or other it had been years since our last visit to the Drover, but after our visit this week I am not sure why. We had a great time. The food was great and the steak better. Our out of town visitor was very impressed. We will be back!

First time going. For a date night. Ambiance was dark and intimate. Table next to us was having a business meeting and was loud. Food was good but pricey but about what you would expect from a high end steakhouse.

Barely out of the parking lot and writing this review. I made a reservation with a note that it was my boyfriends first visit, and we were celebrating his birthday. Our table was ready the moment we walked in, the cocktail waitress immediately helped us with our wine selection and we were swiftly brought bread. Then our server, Pedro, greeted us with the kindest welcome and offered all the specials. He provided the utmost friendly and knowledgeable service, like dining with a friend. His suggestions were beyond top notch. The whiskey ribeye and whiskey prime rib were mouth wateringly good. He acknowledged and celebrated the birthday in the sweetest of ways and even provided us with a celebratory dessert. 12/10 stars. What a great way to celebrate a birthday! Cheers to Pedro, and for creating such a wonderful experience!

The Drover was as advertised. Love the decor and atmosphere. Food was absolutely phenomenal. My wife got the 8 oz whiskey filet and I got the 14 oz whiskey ribeye. Both were cooked perfectly and the loaded baked potato was great. Also recommend the cinnamon toffee cheesecake. We’re from Charleston, SC and will definitely be back the next time we’re in Omaha.

The valet, Derrick, at the Farnam Hotel gave us the recommendation for dinner and we’re so glad he did! We arrived early for our reservation and decided to have a couple drinks at the bar. They were made very well and service was excellent. The host gave us plenty of time to cash out and take us to our table. We had the bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer special. Highly recommend when available. For dinner my husband and I both had the whiskey filet. It was the best steak we’ve ever had! The flavor is distinctive along with melt in your mouth beef.

We done at the drover regularly for special occasions. Typically food is very good and keeps us coming back. Tonight the quality and the seasoning for the prime rib was just not there. One person in our party had a tough piece, to the point he had to spit out a bite or two. It was whiskey marinated. The other said their portion were way under seasoned. My filet was good. Bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer was good. Just not the quality of prime rib we are used to for the price point. Another diner nearby we heard complaining about way to much pepper in a Mac and cheese dish. Hopefully just an off night in the kitchen.
