   Heavens, I've been here so many times. But not so much recently, as have either been away or too busy. But needing somewhere close-by for dinner for a friend who is not very mobile, The Dining Room was the obvious choice, being only about 200 yards from us. But would it have kept up its standards over the summer? The answer, quite definitely, was "yes". Well done, Grant. You have a great staff.

   I cannot complete this review accurately as we were unable to dine at this restaurant as it was not open! The website did not say they were closed on a Monday. There are boards advertising daily opening in the town. Open table accepted & confirmed our booking for Monday 20th November. A total disaster

   We had a lovely Sunday lunch here. It never fails to please and the service was great; almost as good as the food which was delicious.

   We are on holiday in Sherborne and booked to go to the Restaurant. It was very quiet on a Tuesday and we were told that a dish we ordered was not fit to be served as the freezer had gone off. The food was ok but uninteresting. The dessert looked as if it had been just put in a dish , no trimmings. Couldn't tell if there were vegetables in a vegetarian risotto.

   I am a great fan of the Dining Room, but I am a little like a London bus: I don't (or rather can't) visit for weeks on end and then need to book three days in a row. That's what it has been like recently, and each time has been excellent - from entertaining guests for a three-course dinner to snatching a single-course lunch with a friend. Each time the food has been excellent, as has the service. The Dining Room remains my restaurant of choice in Sherborne.

   We went for Sunday lunch. There were 3 of us and we all had the delicious, and beautifully cooked roast beef. After this we had rhubarb fool and apple and blackberry crumble which again was delicious. Our only gripe was that the tap water they served in a jug (we also bought drinks) was undrinkable as it tasted so strongly of chlorine. This was not a major problem but next time we visit there I will order bottled water. Otherwise we will certainly go there again and enjoy their great food and relaxing ambience.

    Gorgeous food, top quality and delicious! Menu changes regularly which is nice so always something different. Staff really friendly and a nice place for a top notch meal :-)
