Good, music and service were very good.
International Woman’s Day Celebration. Great fun.
Food was good, some
Portions were smaller than expected but steak was amazing! Service was a little lacking not much attention at all.
Amazing charcuterie and good wine flights. Chairs were a little uncomfortable and dinner was slightly less impressive than the starters but overall it was very good and I would go again.
I would recommend the Collective Wine Bar and Kitchen to anyone. The menu has lots (but not too much) to choose from, and the food we ordered (mushroom starter and duck breast and tenderloin mains) was delicious and perfectly cooked. The cocktail menu is interesting. We both liked our choices: scatterbrain and wasp's nest. Our server was very helpful in picking out a wine that we would both like and would go well with our meals. We had a table by a window near the entrance, and it got a bit cold (but fresh!) whenever anyone came in, but the majority of seating is well back from the door. I'd go back in a heartbeat.
When we arrived for our reservation, they had a large party that was running late. They did everything possible to make us comfortable & ensure we enjoyed our visit, which we did. Excellent service, amazing food, and just a really, really lovely place to spend an evening. This is the third time I've been there & they've knocked it out of the park every time. I'll definitely be back & won't hesitate to recommend it to friends.
A great find!
The veggie sample board was fantastic, along with the wine
Lots of vegetarian options
Noise level was a bit higher but only due to the business of Valentine’s Day. Outstanding
The food was phenomenal! We didn’t realize when we reserved our table that there was going to be live music though and the place is a bit small for that. It got very loud with all the guests trying to speak over the music and each other.
An outstanding long overdue addition to Cook Street village, and Victoria. Wonderful staff and upper end food! Romantic ambience for couples or easy going for non-couples. We'll be back again and again.
The food, the wine, and the service were outstanding as always . Our server was amazing ! Loved the music , the atmosphere and everything in between . Looking forward to spending Valentine’s Day dinner there with our close friends .
Had New Year's reservation for 2, booked well in advance. We were squeezed into a 2 top table next to the kitchen as if there was no other space available.
Food portions were very small and the cost for a vegetarian entree was the same as the beef tenderloin meal. There were only 2 options for the fixed menu available, with no other alternatives. Very disappointing and expensive for the value.
Early new year eve dinner
I chose this restaurant because of the options for vegan fair. We were very impressed with our experience. We had two wine flights, one pre-dinner and one paired with the vegan plate; which was delicious, hosting various textures and flavours, it was beautifully presented. Our server was friendly, attentive and able to speak to the wines we were enjoying.
We only had drinks when we were in but the app doesn’t allow you to not score in every field so I gave it a four simply based on the look of others’ plates and their comments. Everything else was a clear five; we would definitely return.
We had a lovely time and the music was superb.
Absolutely loved the Jazz and would go back again because of it.
For us, the diverse wine list is what sets The Collective apart from the competition. You have a selection of Old World wines that are commendable and difficult to find as so many restaurants are now choosing local only which is a little disappointing.
As ever the food was very good and the waitress was knowledgeable and helpful.
The only negative comment really is being asked to settle the bill because our server was finishing her shift. We would have had another round of drinks but felt as though we were being encouraged to leave. It seems strange that a server could not wait a day or two to receive their tips.
A wonderful place to spend time visiting friends. Cocktails were great. Food was wonderful.
Love the service, food, and atmosphere. Server is knowledgeable to provide suggestions on food and wine pairing for my friend. Wine pairing has good selection of combos (threes) that allows taster to taste different varieties. Food is also unexpectedly flavorful and presented beautifully. My friend said she will bring her friends and family over for sure!
I ordered the duck and I'm quite certain it was pork tenderloin that I got. It didn't taste or look or smell like duck. As I was with friends I didn't want to make a scene but REALLY! I assume you ran out of duck but that's unconscionable. It would have been way better to just say that you had run out and i would have ordered something else. I expect the chef will deny it a) to keep his/her job and b) because to admit it might have consequences. I only mention it now in the hopes that this will get passed on so that it never happens again. What if I were kosher or Muslim? The Brussel sprouts were absolutely delicious!
Had a great experience at The Collective. Hadn’t been there since they first opened with the limited menu. The new menu is great and everyone in our group enjoyed our meals. Steak Frites was perfectly cooked. The scallops were also a hit. The wine list is also decent and reasonably priced. A great local treasure in the heart of Cook St Village.
This place just keeps getting better and better! Excellent food, service and drinks and wine!
We really enjoyed this place. The steak frites and scallop dinners were fantastic, and we loved the coffee panna cotta for dessert. I loved the musicians as well, and the very relaxed atmosphere they were able to create. We will definitely return.
The food was excellent and the live music was an extra bonus
Best meal of the year!
Waitress and bartender were great. Seems the chef had an issue with my 6 month pregnant friend ordering her steak well done. Had to be sent back twice.
When we want to blue rare steak we know where to come - cause it looked delicious!
The waitress was nice to make sure they covered the bill and gave her garlic fries to chew on for the time being.
Otherwise tasty, good cocktails and great ambience. Loud enough for a good atmosphere (we sat at the back of the restaurant) but not too loud for talking.
I would recommend with caution, as we are not meat eaters and we anticipated more and better Vegetarian would not be hard to accomplish. A nice Rice Noodle hot Vegan pasta choice with nuts and those fabulous cheeses would be great. Eggplant Parmesano?
I really enjoy the collective ..it’s my go to place now
Had a wonderful experience! Great food, wine and service!
Always a pleasure to go to The Collective. Feels like family!
Our first impression of The Collective was poor - we had a reservation, and after waiting 10 minutes to be seated, were offered a spot at the bar while we waited for our table. It wasn't until 25 minutes past our reservation time we were seated - a bit disappointing, and a free drink or appy would have been nice for our patience, but nothing was offered. After we sat down the service was good and the food was excellent, so we would like to go back to give it another try.
My partner and I enjoyed a wonderful meal. Highly recommend the pepper steak, a medium rare tenderloin cooked to perfection, nicely accompanied by yellow beats, succulent green beans and potatoes. Excellent wine menu so it was easy to pair a wine of our liking. Service was spot on and the Jazz was a delight.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. We were so happily pleased by the experience.

My first time there with a friend and the service was excellent. I had the vegan mushroom risotto - yummy!!! Will return for more.

We are looking to provide even more vegan options in the future so come see us again soon :) Thanks again for coming in and taking the time to provide us with feedback. This is our go to place away from the downtown area. We can drive or take transit. It’s very convenient . Happy hour is a good idea but needs to be more aggressive, e.g. 2 glasses house wine for $10 or something like that to generate interest, otherwise might just as well do regular ordering.
Food is always good and the wine selection outstanding.
This is a Euro style establishment , it’s not a chain restaurant, therefore expect to linger and enjoy the ambiance.
Hi Paul, Thanks for coming in again. It's always a pleasure to have you in and thanks for the generous review. We really appreciate it! We are continuing to adjust our happy hour specials to ensure we are meeting what our customers are looking for. Thanks for the suggestion. Thanks again and we look forward to having you in again soon. Take good care, Jon
We were visiting Victoria and was not sure about the restaurant. However our experience was great and we were very impressed! The food was delicious, service was very good. They had a live band playing which was an added bonus. They were entertaining but not overly loud, so we could easily carry on our conversation.
I would not hesitate recommending the restaurant, and will likely go again next time we are in Victoria.
Lambchops were delicious and perfectly prepared with the mint chimichurri a delicious complement. Loved that the wine flight choices were so flexible, allowing for substitution of any by-the-glass menu choice. We were staying overnight at The Roosevelt Empress and looking for something birthday-worthy for my celebration; something a little far from the tourist-concentrated area around the harbor. While it would be a nice walk, we took a short cab ride out to the Collective and back to the hotel after dinner. The location appears to offer many before and after dinner activities I'm encouraged to try next time I return.
Food was spectacular and wine was amazing!
Simple and tasteful ambiance. Food was very delicious with lovely presentation - we had poached pear salad, vegan risotto, and tenderloin steak. Service was excellent and personable. If we lived in Victoria, we would frequent this spot!
