The Coal Shed London
The Coal Shed was born from the love of cooking the finest meat and seafood over fire.
Open seven days a week, the restaurant uses the highest quality ingredients, sourced as locally as possible. Try the 35-day aged sharing steaks or the South Coast sharing fish for a dining experience to remember.
The Coal Shed London, occupies two floors and a bar for pre and post dinner drinks and cocktails expertly crafted. If you want to host your own event, there is a private dining room on the mezzanine or the restaurant can be exclusively hired for any type of occasion.
We had a great meal. Dinner for two guys two gals, the boys still a little hungry by the end food was delicious. We had a fantastic time and wine was super. Would definitely come again. Thank you.
Perfectly cooked fish and vegetables, prompt service, good for theatre goers and good value. Would certainly repeat the experience.
Incredible food and service. Lovely touch at the end to toast our birthday and anniversary celebrations. Highly recommend
Our first experience here. What a great location views of Tower and Bridge lit up-marvellous. Staff were very pleasant and attentive and explained your interesting wine list! Pre theatre menu perfectly suitable with just enough choice Very tasty too!
Will be back!
The wait staff were lovely and amazing and really helpful and my friends and I spend a long time in there having brunch and sampling the amazing cocktails. Will be going back for dinner for sure.
A warm welcome was a great start to our evening. The menu is interesting and our waiter had the hearing of a bat, as he heard me mention we were going to the theatre and came back to take our order quickly. Don't get me wrong, we still had a lovely relaxing meal but that extra touch was exceptional. The food was delicious, full of flavour. We will be going back, without the pressure of a theatre trip.
Great food. Very generous portions
However, I ordered a 2015 red wine (which the waiter recommended), and was served a 2016 bottle. Very cheeky, luckily the 2016 bottle drank well.
Really excellent pre theatre menu and good value for money
Great food polite helpful happy staff drinks were good too , great value for money
Perfect place for a pre-theatre dinner: very good, simple food and efficient service in a nice setting.
A great meal with great service. A little on the pricey side, but food was good. They were happy to accommodate our need for a speedy dinner! It was a little smoky as the kitchen is open plan, so I smelt a little of grilled steak afterwards!
Fantastic service, delicious food, lovely atmosphere.
Yes, we would recommend the Coal Shed. Only was it better if they would mention the price of the special meats.
Great experience! Very good food and service!
This was the most delicious roast dinner we have ever had - I would highly recommend the sharing roast if you are visiting here on a Sunday. The restaurant is beautiful in a lovely area of area. The service was great, our waitress was so friendly and helpful and was brilliant at recommending wines to go with our food. Overall a wonderful time and I cannot wait to come back - thank you!
I previously wrote a review and raved about the food and service. I’m very pleased to say that after returning, their food, service and value for money is still of the highest class. I previously mentioned their wine may have been ever so slightly over priced however their wines at the top end of the price range are incredibly good value for money with a much smaller markup applied when compared to other restaurants offering the same wine. On this note I need to call out the sommelier Alberto who is an incredible asset to the restaurant. I’ve never encountered such a passionate sommelier before. We were treated like royalty and OMG you have to try the goat to share. Just incredible! Cannot wait to return.
Excellent food, good service and overall good dining experience
The bream was delicious but served with almost raw inedible leeks. The staff were lovely and the food returned and recooked but came back with button onions and marginally more cooked leeks. The staff are excellent. Food disappointing.
Good food, nice atmosphere but not cheap
Really excellent food, particularly the starters.
Wait staff were nice, but hard to get a hold of, and if you're going to remove wine from the table to pour it, you need to watch so that people don't run dry at the table. Overall lovely though.
Theatre visit meal . Very good . Started with bread & olives . Bread not great bit dry but best olives from Italy . Husband had steak & I shell fish platter . We had the sharing pudding . . We chose different wines which were both recommended by Waiter and were delicious . The only thing that could be added to this is a complimentary drink at the end of the meal as we had 3 courses and that amounts to a sizable bill . We would go back .
This was a first visit for all of us. The food was superb - we all had steak with a selection of sides. The ambience was good too, not too loud and enough space between tables.
The service was very friendly, but rather slow and should have been better. Drinks were particularly slow to arrive and it was hard to catch the eye of the waiting staff. This wouldn't stop a return visit though.
Superb food. Excellent express menu value. We’ll be back to try more.
The service and food were very good, however the bar seemed lacking and our cocktails took sometime to arrive considering not a very busy service, we appreciated the little plate to say happy anniversary at the end of our meal, with chocolates and pipped writing, thank you
Great service and excellent staff. The steak was cooked perfectly.
I've been to The Coal Shed twice now, and the sharing roast is absolutely incredible! :) However, once you've had your main the waiters are nowhere to be seen and on both occasions we've had dessert/coffee/cocktails so you would think they would be more keen. We got the dessert menu but then sat for 30mins waiting for someone to take our order - we waived twice to them and just got dismissed.
And just to say, that the matcha macaroon I had the first time was divine so for the second time I ordered the macaroon again but this time it was some berry macaroon. And it wasn't great.... the macaroon was overcooked so not nice and soft in the middle, and then the filling was jam which just went everywhere. Seemed like this time it was not prepared by a pastry chef
Came here for my bday with friends and the food was great, and the service just as good!
Food was bland and expensive
Great cocktails food and impeccable service. As per usual for London, dining room incredibly noisy
We really enjoyed our dinner at the Coal Shed at One Tower Bridge. Great location, attentive service, delicious food, good ambiance... but not cheap (even with the OpenTable set menu). I'll be back... but only for special occasions.
Fantastic steak and friendly staff. The beef rib croquette bites were delicious too!
Went late on a Sunday, the roast was finished which was the reason for going. Waiter was great, got us a sharing steak instead but with all the roast trimming so we were very happy. The steak is cooked perfectly! Started with the specials haddock scotch egg possibly the nicest I’ve ever had! So much food we couldn’t manage a desert so can’t comment on that. Not the best wine selection for my tastes but on Mondays you can take your own wine instead.
Will deffo return here wine and lots of food for 2 ppl £115, not bad for a very nice meal.
Relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Food was excellent and tasty and well cooked. Very enjoyable.
From the moment we walked in we felt looked after.
Coats taken, went to a lovely table, happy to find a set 3 course menu as we were dining at 5.30. Good choice.
Lovely food, great service and good lighting and ambiance.
Definitely would recommend and go again.
Starters excellent, burgers ok, had better. Would think twice about going back, most mains come without any sides, so costs mount up, and drinks expensive. Other places in the area with views etc, Coal shed tucked inside a residential area of new blocks of flats..
Hamburger dry and fell apart general service friendly but disappointed as this was meant to a place specialising In grilled meat
Our steak was served on cold plates and the chips tasted like they had been cooked two days before and re-heated. We waited over an our for our main course to be served and then it was cold. We went to this restaurant because it was highly rated by Giles Conren. This is unfortunately not the first time one of his recommendations has failed to impress. We will not be visiting again and we will definitely not recommend our friends to visit. Al very disappointing I'm afraid.
Terrible service and awful food, We eat out alot and I can honestly say it is the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Would never recommend and you couldn’t pay me to go back. Avoid avoid avoid!!!
