The Chef and I
Folks can choose to order off the menu or do a chef’s tasting seven days a week.
We offer a chef’s tasting at two levels: five or seven courses; a culinary experience comprised of what’s in season and what the chefs are inspired to share with you that day.
Additionally, we offer regular menus for lunch, brunch, dinner, and happy hour. Executive Chef Chris Rains and his staff carefully curate these menus seasonally.
Counter (Show Kitchen) seating is limited and generally requires a reservation. If you desire Counter (Show Kitchen) seating, please select "counter" seating when you make your reservation.
We have a 24-hour cancellation policy. Any reservations cancelled within 24 hours of the reservation date/time is subject to a $20 per seat charge.

Great Spot! Superbly prepared food and absolutely delicious.
My husband and I visited The Chef and I on a Sunday night. From the moment our server, Michael, greeted us we were impressed. He provided us with some spectacular recommendations and his service was top notch. Our appetizers and main dish were delicious. The presentations and flavors were amazing. Couple amazing food with an outstanding sever we can not wait to go back. We would recommend yeh restaurant to anyone in Nashville!
The service was amazing! Definitely a spot we will take friends when they come and visit. We sat at the counter and watched the chefs prepare the meals. Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the dishes and gave us great suggestions! My boyfriend and I split the 5 course chefs meal and then got 2 appetizers and it was plenty of food!
We will definitely be back for a date night!
This place never disappoints! Sitting at the counter gives you the chance to interact with the chefs. So interesting! Also the servers are beyond attentive. Mike was amazing and so much fun! Food is always on point. Cauliflower and Brussels sprout appetizers are my favorites.
The best food I have had so far in Nashville. Feels like you’re eating at an amazing NYC spot. Loved it!!
Excellent food, nice atmosphere. Deserts were amazing.
Awesome experience!! Something different to do when in Nashville. It was nice to watch them prepare the food at chef counter!!
Great experience! We sat at the counter in front of the kitchen. Everyone in the kitchen was enjoying what they were doing and proud to explain what they were preparing. This was one of the best meals we’ve had in Nashville.
Took parents here. We had a great time sharing some appetizers and entrees together at the corner of the bar. Definitely sit at the bar so you can watch the action. Excellent service! Very lovely restaurant!
This place was great. I did the tasting and it was delicious. Reasonable prices too.
Dinner was delicious! We sat at the chef’s counter and watch the food being prepared. The chefs were friendly and interacted with us, which made it a very cool experience. The portions and flavor of everything were great and we left full and happy. Probably one of my favorite meals I’ve had in Nashville.
This is the second time I've eaten at The Chef and I. I really like this place. The food is superb. I love getting the tasting menu! So many wonderful flavors and amazing combinations to tantalize my palate. The first time was a lovely, romantic dinner date. This time was a charming Sunday brunch. Two Thumbs Up!
Awesome. Great experience.
Great meal well worth every penny. Scott was wonderful and the rest team behind the counter was a joy to watch. Mikes service was impeccable! If in Nashville it’s a must!
Highly recommend going to The Chef and I! The food is delicious, the server was attentive and the atmosphere is great. We had a greater counter seat with a view of the kitchen and had an opportunity to chat with the executive chef. We will definitely be back the next time we're in Nashville!
Tasting menu with wine pairings. Everything was delicious and the service was great. Very pleased.
Amazing food and drinks! We will be back any time we visit Nashville!
One of our favorite places in Nashville. My only complaint would be the high top seating, which places you across from your date and closely beside strangers. This can become loud. However, we ended up speaking to everyone and had a unique dining experience. Counter top seating is preferred facing the kitchen. Also am not crazy about the waitstaff walking up behind you to serve.
One of the best meals I have had in Nashville! Such a fun experience! Make sure to sit at the counter to watch the chefs prepare the food.
The food was absolutely outstanding. My husband ordered the scallops and asked to have them blackened and said that they were one of the best meals he’s ever eaten. I had the duck and the combination of flavors was wonderful. Our favorite meal in Nashville! Michael was a great, attentive, patient waiter and made a recommendation for after dinner plans. Well done, Chef and I!
Absolutely awesome experience. Amazing food, engaging and attentive service, and a great atmosphere with chefs that welcome questions and conversation while they make your food.
Remarkable food, remarkable staff. They accommodated our large group, dietary restrictions, and special event. A fabulous experience, especially at the chef’s counter with Chef Sara
This was our first time to The Chef and I and it won’t be the last! Perfectly prepared and served...unique menu! We ordered about five different items and all shared. Our server, Todd, was AMAZING! Love the vibe and atmosphere! Thank you!
We loved it! Such a great, hip spot. The food was delicious and beautiful. We sat at the chef bar, which I recommend. It was a bit difficult to talk because of the bar-like seating (there were 4 of us), but if you're on a date or 1:1, it would be perfect. If you're with a group ask for the corner or sit at a high top. I'll definitely be back next time I visit Nashville!
Believe what you read about this place. Wonderful!
We went for my son’s birthday. Everyone at the restaurant we friendly and attentive. Great food... you can talk to and watch the chefs as they cook...do the seven courses...fantastic!
This is why I love Open Table, to find restaurants like this one. It was a culinary delight. It looks and feels cool. The servers and kitchen are friendly and the food unbelievable! They have an outstanding lunch option with flavors the excite the palette. I’ll be back.
Food was delicious and entire experience was great. Highly recommend the brussels, and butternut squash salad for apps.
It was such a great place to dine at in Nashville. Outstanding!
The food was fresh and the menu was filled with such flavorful combinations. Not only was it delicious we thoroughly enjoyed watching them prepare the meal in front of us. The staff was friendly and engaging making it a fabulous experience. It is our new favorite restaurant.
Amazing experience and close to a top meal I’ve had. From beginning to end, the food was delicious. While the sea scallops were amazing on their own, the rice was just as delicious. The elk tenderloin and hangar steak were tender and tasty. Do yourself a favor and order the foil gras or roasted red bell pimento Cheese and House bacon shareable. You will not be disappointed. Service was outstanding as well.
Sat at the chefs table and had a fabulous dinner with our daughters!
Outstanding food and service! Matt and David were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. We will definitely come back the next time we come to Nashville.
We did the tasting menu and everything was excellent! Great service. Sat at the counter to watch the process - very fun. Will definitely go back!
Great brunch! Watching the Chefs at work was a highlight! Food was delicious.
What a wonderful restaurant!! Food was tremendous and the service impeccable. A little more expensive but well worth the prices!
The Chef and I has now become my FAVORITE Nashville fine-dining establishment. Every moment is perfect- from when you are greeted by the best valet attendant in town to the special attention that you get from the culinary, serving and bar staff to when you drive away. Every serving is exquisite- from the cocktails and small plate servings (get the brussel sprouts and cauliflower and ANYTHING with the smoked salmon) to the entrees (get the elk, veal or any fish) and desserts (get 'em all). The atmosphere is fun and the open kitchen makes you feel like family. Brunch is awesome too. This is a must for anyone visiting Nashville and long-timers like me.
Michael, the manager, was also our waiter. Outstanding!
This is an outstanding dining experience! Personalized, attentive from valet parking to serving to quality of food and conversation with chefs! Excellent in every aspect!
