The Chef and I at Lenox Ratings and Reviews
We frequent the Chef and I often and have since they opened their doors. It is by far our favorite restaurant in Middle Tennessee. That is saying a lot since Nashville is such a foodie town. The food is always fresh, delicious, and prepared by talented chefs. Every person that you encounter there is top notch and extremely service oriented. They will make sure you have an amazing experience from beginning to end. If you haven't tried the Chef and I yet, you are missing out!
The concept here was really nice, as the chef will prepare either an 8 plate meal or 4 plate meal for set prices, only determining in advance any ingredients that you may not like. We elected to order fro the set menu, simply due to not wanting a larger meal on this particular evening. The food was excellent! The group seating was not a problem for us, but might be a bit too close and not private enough for some. Otherwise, the atmosphere was very nice.
Spectacular dinner! We ate at the "kitchen counter" and chatted with the chefs while they prepared our dinners. From the cocktails to the appetizers to the dinners the presentations and tastes were fabulous. We were too full for dessert but I'm sure they are well worth the calories. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
This is somewhat of a hidden gem in Lenox Village. Four of us dined at the chef's bar to celebrate a couple of birthdays. We all had the 4 course tasting menu and 4 course wine flight. The food was incredible. Wine pairing was perfect. We sat at the bar and enjoyed watching the chefs prepare our meals and having them explain it. Our meal was about $500, but was worth it for a special occasion. You can share small plates and/or a main course to keep your cost down.
Nashville has an exciting and expanding restaurant scene. Several friends of ours have been trying to find new places each month and while not all are "new" to the community, they are new to our group. This is one that was an in expected find thanks to a local restaurant rating I read, and it certainly lived up to the reviews and the raves. In addition, it's exciting to hear that they're opening another location soon in the Gulch. I hope they continue to maintain the quality, atmosphere, and reputation that we found delivered at the Lenox location.
Our group opted for the eight or nine course tasting menu. It was several small plates shared between each couple. While we initially were concerned it might not be enough food, we all left more than satisfied after three hours that passed quickly full of fun, conversation, and some amazing presentations that none of us would likely try at home.
The staff was very sensitive to any of our food allergies or dislikes, and after some initial instructions from each couple regarding goat cheese, mushrooms, and a couple other quirks, we started down the path of the tastings and everyone had one or two different favorites.
While I may not recall every one of them, we did begin with a duck breast meat ball served with a granny smith apple and cranberry purée that was amazing. From there, we tried a variety of dishes including shrimp and grits, baked beet in a butter sauce, crab-cakes, and a few others I can't recall. Don't worry, however, as the menu changes regularly and the tastings are designed at the whim of the chef and the ingredients available.
We tried a couple of their house made cocktails and if you're not sure exactly what you want, the bartender was very creative in preparing something.
For each couple, the total bill was just over $100 including cocktails. Or for an evening that was truly an event we will talk about in the future, it was well worth it.
I'm looking forward to going back again soon.
This restaurant is a hidden gem. We had the Brussels sprouts and ahi tuna small plates, along with tomato salad, ravioli and fish dish .. it was all delicious and perfectly presented. The service was friendly and prompt. Our waitress was personable and knowledgeable in the dishes. Didn't sit at the Chef's table this time but would love to try it in the future. Our service felt just as personalized even at a regular table. I was hesitant about the multi-diner tables but it was just fine and still felt private enough. Definitely recommend.
What a hidden gem. The experience at The Chef and I was totally memorable. The chefs and staff are so very friendly and accommodating. The food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere was fun as it's extremely delightful to watch a master chef create your meal right before your eyes!!
This was our first time to visit and - WOW - it was fantastic! We went for the 4 course chef's testing menu and the wine pairing. We literally ate every bite put in front of us and the wine pairings were fantastic. It was truly a culinary experience. Everything was cooked to perfection, right down to the crème brulee. We can't wait to go back!
My friend and I had a four course tasting menu created by Chef Peter. We began with a vegan option, as requested, which was delicious; avocado toast with a depth of flavors. For our second course, we enjoyed coconut risotto rice, and again there were so many different flavors and textures like lemon zest and pistachios. Then we enjoyed a green salad with a balsamic reduction, strawberries and pecans. My dinner companion, who eats meat, had a duck slider including bacon, brie, and a homemade jam. What an amazing creation! For dessert, there was a berry infused bread pudding. My partner also enjoyed a few creative cocktails and a Yazoo local beer. The service was spectacular. Our water glasses were filled regularly and plates cleared. Every employee was attentive, and we enjoyed friendly conversation with them as we dined.
Watch you dishes being prepared and interact with the chef. Or you can sit at bar style benches with a group of friends. Nearly all the dishes on the menu change every week. A few favorites remain such as the Brussels Sprouts. Hands down THE very best we have ever had. One visit and you'll be back to see what's new.
The food was exceptional! Actually the best I can remember. The people, both staff and others enjoying the food, were friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was low key, low stress and relaxing. And the food was very good, well plated and prepared to perfection. I would have liked a table for two instead of the long table with several people seated at it. The food was seasoned well, presented artistically and the servers expertly ex0lained each dish. Did I mention the food? It was AWESOME!
we were at the chef's table so it was great to talk to the whole team. We had the tasting menu and since i am a pescaterian the menu was totally spur of the moment. Great food and it was as i like it "temperature hot". A lot of resto serve their food barely warm which I cannot stand. Great place, great people and no indecent prices
Food was good and service was good but it took 45 minutes from time we ordered our entree to receive it . This was 45 minutes after we had finished our salad and small plate. We had a 6:30 reservation on a Saturday night. They have group events at the chef's bar at 6:00 and 8:00 that are 5 to 10 course events. If you are not a part of this event you are treated as a second class citizen. They were out of the featured wines listed and the freezer was out so their in house made ice cream which they claim they are famous for was not availiable. Staff very friendly at first but after they knew they were in the weeds they would not even make eye contact. Ordered Sea Bass from main menu and it was good if you have a high tolerence for salt. Portion was small compaired to compeirable restuarants. Overall disappointed as I had high expections
If I went again it would be ONLY for the event at the chefs bar and would call ahead to make sure they have featured items such as wines and ice cream. Others around us were disappointed as well.
Absolutely loved it! From the cauliflower app to the salad, crap cakes, scallops and hot chicken...wouldn't change a single thing! Incredible, delicious, perfection!!! Thank you! Can't wait to come again!!! Everyone was so sweet and friendly...the cutest place...just can't say enough good things!
Didn't quite live up to the hype from friends and the net. Maybe it was just a busy nite but everyone seemed a little off their game. The food was good but not outstanding, like I had been led to believe. Daughter in law got the best choices by far. For over $300 I had have hoped for something amazing. Will probably try it again and order from the menu instead of the chef's choice.
We dined on a Friday night, sat at the chefs table. The food was absolutely amazing!!!!! It was different that any other restaurant in Nashville. The sauces were so very good. I don't think I have EVER had better shrimp and grits. The duck was excellent. We brought our favorite wine and champagne and the corkage fee was reasonable. We will return.
Started nice, app was small but yummy. Didn't get our drinks or entrees. Had to ask multiple times where our food was to eventually find out it was never sent into the kitchen. When it finally arrived (after 1hr 45 min) one plate was delicious and one the meat was very dry. Server never checked up on us. Had to walk to the bar ourselves to get drinks and our check so we could leave. Overall terribly understaffed. Pass.
We tried The Chef and I for the first time for Sunday brunch. It was a fixed menu, but we are so glad we went. This was some of the best food we have eaten in Nashville. We are finicky about calling food great, but this was great food. It is also rare for us to try a restaurant and think immediately about coming back. We will be back for this one. Allow time to be there, though. There was one waiter serving as host, waiter, and bartender.
The Chef and I was Great! Very interesting experience with great flavors. Four of us got the 4 course meals, and told them what we did not like. Then they brought us the food. It was Great. Rarely do you have 4 people walking away from some place and say that was a great meal. But we did!
My husband and I enjoyed the 8 course tasting menu- we ordered one and shared each plate. There was Plenty of food and ALL the courses were creative, tasty and satisfying. I have been here several times, but feel that it has gotten so much better- taking the food and the experience to the next level. I highly recommend The Chef and I. They were very accommodating with food allergies, service was in point and cocktails yummy also.
We attended a function recently which was catered by the Chef and I, and the food was crazy good!
So we located the restaurant in Lenox Village (it is worth the drive) and made reservation to sit at the Chef's table at 6:00 PM. The restaurant is fairly small, but that contributes to a very intimate relationship with the food prep team.
We both ended up eating at other functions earlier in the day so we chose to try an assortment of small plates accompanied by a bottle of Pinot Grigio. Food was so good, and the wine was the perfect pairing. Sitting at the table in front of the chef and staff was both fun and informative. An all around great evening.
